Trevell was our valet driver for Courtyard Downtown Norfolk drop off and he was very nice and did a great job taking care of us.
Ernest retrieved our car in the morning and went above and beyond to help quickly and professionally!
The supervisor on duty Ms D was amazing! Her energy and customer service were off the chain!
Thank you the great experience!

Nadiya for PMC was exceptionally great with providing me with arrival and departure with my vehicle. Also Nadiya provided information for great sources to Norfolk restaurant's as well as beaches to see. She was very respectful and positive with everything. You good Nadiya 👍
The Marriott Courtyard Norfolk Downtown hotel was filthy. The room had feces smeared on the walls, peeling wallpaper, a lampshade falling apart, furniture was missing hardware, the varnish on tabletops was peeling, the beds were lumpy, the upholstery was dirty, the room stunk like heavy cleansers which housekeeping should have used to CLEAN the room instead of mask the stench of mold, and the bathroom was gross (toilet had black smears on the seat and on the caulk around the base, the bathtub was black with filth and mold).
The thermostat wasn’t working. It was set to 63 degrees upon arrival. Way too cold. When it was set higher to allow the AC to just turn off, instead, the heat turned on. The heat was smelly and disgusting. We called for someone to come and look at it. After an hour, we were heading for dinner, and called to tell them not to come now, and the front desk said they forgot. Great. Later, when someone actually was able to come to the room, they showed us a panel to remove, and flip the switch to OFF to stop the air/heat from infiltrating the room. The hotel knows the thermostats are in need of maintenance, and the solution is to just turn off the unit.
None of the ice makers were working. The lobby had no AC. Carpeting was buckled in the hallways. Door latches on some of the doors to the stairs were cut out, to not allow the doors to lock or latch. “Amenities” like the hot tub have been broken for over a year. The indoor pool was not maintained. The AC in the Wainright room, where we had our first dinner and all breakfasts, was not working. On the 3rd day, they added a window AC unit which did nothing. By the last day, there was a portable AC unit, but it was too little too late.
The reviews for this hotel are misleading and inflated. The last few months, Mark the valet posted many 5-star reviews boasting of his services, which artificially inflated the hotel ratings. When we asked upon arrival where Mark was, we were told that there was no Mark who worked at this location.
The food at this hotel was awful. The hotel breakfast did not have any yogurt, pancakes were burnt each time they were served, and suggestions to streamline the line by putting the bread and cereal over by the toaster and the milk were ignored. The last day, there was no bread at all. The staff claimed that the bread was frozen. Loaves of frozen bread can be thawed in about 1/2 hour, so if they were true professionals, they could have been prepared.
In summary, this is a filthy, poorly maintained flop house, and obviously needs to either ship up, or be removed from the Marriott Bonvoy brand.
Valet parking was great and our arrival went smoothly. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and well kept. Unfortunately, the pool area was in poor condition.
Valet parking was excellent and made arrival smooth. The rooms were clean and well-kept, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the pool area was in very poor condition. The indoor pool was unbearably hot—around 90 degrees—and parts of the pool itself were visibly crumbling. The water had an unpleasant smell, making it unusable. On top of that, noise was a major issue. Guests in nearby rooms played loud music through the hallway until 3:30 in the morning, making it impossible to rest.
Overall, while the valet service and room cleanliness were positives, the deteriorating pool facilities and lack of noise control made for a disappointing stay.
Drain in bathroom 205 did not work
ice machine broke,no smart tv to stream ac broken in the main lobby and the bistro never opened up
Our stay at the Courtyard Downtown Norfolk was great. Upon arrival our valet attendant, Ni’kia (apologies - not spelled correctly) had great customer service. Very nice and helpful young lady. Check-in was quick and simple, our room - clean and spacious and we all slept well!
Valet was excellent. Very polite and prompt.
Valet service was excellent.
Thank you, Donell, for your service and kindness.
Anaya was amazing and wonderful service altogether
The rooms were beautiful, everyone was friendly, and our Valet, Mark, was spectacular! Super kind, friendly, fun, and great at his job! The atmosphere and decorations were lovely, everything was clean and nice! My only complaint was that the pool was broken and there was an elevator that was out of service. Other than that, superb!
Great help with all of our stuff.
The Courtyard Marriott in downtown Norfolk was clean, conveniently located and the staff was all very kind and helpful! I used the valet parking as well and Na’Diya was wonderful and did an excellent job, she also explained the local bus system to me so that I didn’t have to pay for Ubers. Would definitely stay here again!
Mark was very helpful and friendly!
The Valet attendant Mark was extremely professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the digital valet system and made sure we were comfortable. He also promoted us to take a moment to provide a review.
Alyssa made check-in a breeze. She was polite and professional. She was extremely helpful to make sure we got settled.
The room was clean and spacious. We love that the love seat & chair provided an area for us to sit and relax. The bathroom is dated with a few modern touches.
The hotel was easy to find and conveniently located just 2-3 blocks from interstate. We were here for a wedding and the location was close to the venue. Overall I would recommend this hotel and choose to return the next time I have business in Norfolk.
I would like to give thanks to Mark at valet. He was very thorough in explaining my parking options and very friendly and courteous. He presented a great personality and professionalism.
In the financial centre if the city and was easy to reach on the light rail one stop from the Amtrak station. Front desk staff member that checked me in didn't seem that interested in me. One lift out of use. Room was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom in good order though one of the three containers in the shower was empty. WiFi worked well. Breakfast was basically service at the bar to order. Coffee in a paper Starbucks cup and the cooked item I had wasn't brilliant for extra I had paid.
Valet was great. Location is great. BUT! Room smells like a dirty litter box. Clerk at the desk couldn’t be bothered to assist us in getting a spoon that had not been stocked in the Market.
