Convenient for all transport hubs, lovely staff and great location

front of house both when we checked in and next morning we're lovely, all staff were friendly, hotel had a lovely atmosphere room was very nice and comfortable and clean,

We stay at the Marine Hotel at least twice yearly however this time will no doubt be the last
In November we were staying in a superior room and booked a family superior room to visit with our granddaughter in April. We had had a small issue which was resolved at the time by an excellent receptionist named Fiona who sorted our booking adding DO NOT CHANGE.
We arrived Wednesday 8th April as planned. We were shown to our room-standard room with barely any room to move. I went to reception to say we were not happy with the room. The receptionist who happened to be a manager covering the desk for a short period was less than helpful and her communication skills were appalling. We were eventually shown a SECOND room which would need a put up bed. Although not entirely happy as it wasn’t what I’d booked and paid for we agreed to the room. I unpacked our cases whilst waiting. When the put up bed came it was BROKEN. A lovely gentleman called Russell came to look at the bed, apologised which is more than the manager did, and went to try and source another. By then I was becoming a little angry and returned to reception to complain.
I pointed out I knew exactly what I had booked and when as I had seen a room before booking as my granddaughter has hip problems and needs a proper bed and I knew I had paid for a superior room. The staff whose names I have confirmed I was correct and despite it saying DO NOT CHANGE it had been. After a further wait we were eventually moved to a THIRD room which was what I had seen in November. We then had to repack some things and carry our clothes on hangers down a floor. We were assisted by a lovely member of staff again who was very apologetic. The following morning I spoke to a very kind Deputy Manager who was truly sorry for the events of the previous evening. The situation was discussed in a meeting in the morning and the situation didn’t warrant a complimentary meal as was suggested. It warranted FOUR mouth sized chocolates and a bottle of red wine which we don’t drink.
We are absolutely disgusted that having spent so much money the hotel considered it acceptable to move us despite what we had booked and paid for to a smaller standard room. I doubt they would have offered to refund the difference either
Although we could say more people need to check what they have booked and that they get it. It does have some lovely staff especially Russell and the gentlemen that serve breakfast but the Management need to step up and put wrongs right

Had such lovely stay at this hotel. Beautiful were it's situated.. Right on the beach... Really enjoyed it. Will definitely recommend we had a lovely room. With a Seaview... We will certainly be staying there again soon. Near to both Howth and Malahide... The man on reception was very pleasant and very welcoming.. Room was 143. Second floor. X

Grew up in the area, so am very familiar with the hotel and location. Didn't require breakfast, but have eaten there many times and the food is always very good. Staff are always attentive and helpful. Over the years, whether it be for food, drinks or an event, I have never had a bad experience.

I always love staying at the Marine Hotel when I'm in Dublin. The location, cleanliness and value make it my go to hotel every time. The staff are all so friendly and the food is delicious. Thanks for keeping such high standards!

The location.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff. We planned to go to howth for dinner but when we arrived we were peckish so had the soup which was lovely. The tables and floor in the restaurant weren’t the cleanest but we didn’t think it was bad enough to say anything. I called in advance to see if I could do anything special in the room for my partner for his birthday. The lady I spoke to said she would arrange an upgrade to a superior room which I was delighted with. The room itself was lovely and clean. But I don’t really suspect it was superior as it was small enough. The only downside to this hotel is its pool area. We didn’t realise we needed to get towels and a code at reception we weren’t informed at check in. It was raining heavily and the way to enter was from outside so we had to go back in the rain for towels after standing in the rain ringing reception for a code. The pool area was filthy so much so I actually couldn’t stay in the water. Under the exit doors were black with dirt and the tiles around the pool area were also dirty. The railings for the pool felt slimmy too and there was an awful smell. The changing rooms however were very clean. I did notice there were signs up that the pool would be closed on certain dates for maintenance so hopefully they will be doing a deep clean. We are planning to return in the summer as we really enjoyed howth and this location was perfect for a visit down there. I will probably avoid the pool area this time however. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Rakesh!
