Pro’s- this property is in an amazing location, close to restaurants, shopping, the water and bars. Rooms were very clean and appearance of the hotel is very nice! Complimentary breakfast was very good! Oscar was amazing- super friendly!
Con’s- lobby bar is “open” from 7am- to I think 10pm but there was never anyone behind the bar to order a drink. Rooftop pool is nice, amazing views but a bit rundown. Needs a deck refurbish and new patio/lounge chairs. A/C works well in the rooms but only works if room key has it activated- can’t run it while you are gone so coming back from a long hot day you have to wait until the room cools down again. We got used to it but a little much in the beginning of our trip.
Overall we will definitely stay at this hotel again!
My second time choosing to stay here. It’s now my “go-to” when I come to Cozumel! The front desk reception guy is so friendly and helpful the place has a nice “I’m at home” vibe! The rooms are comfortable— the beds are especially cozy and nice. The cleaning lady asked if the room needed refresh and was pleasant to organize a good time with us. Our terrace had an ocean view to the side, as does the roof deck with a palapa and some chairs and a pool—It was all ours when there with a panoramic ocean view. And the location cannot be beat! It’s a 3-mile walk to the ferry, and flanked by two awesome restaurants “Jolly Cafe” for late breakfast and great coffee and the “Maplehouse” for great baked goods, sandwiches, salads and more. There are convenience stores and a ton of other restaurants, bars and clubs in walking distance. The place and location are worth the stay and you can eat and drink there too when bar/restaurant onsite is operating. I liove it! We feel at home here!
we booked last minute - nobody was there after over an hour of sitting in the lobby - looked nasty broken windows - we just left
The property was very nice, older, but nicely kept. The owner was great, and went out of his way to ensure we had a good stay. A brief miscommunication was settled quickly and easily with no repercussion.
Check in and check out were great with no issues.
The price was a great value and the facility was quiet.
We stayed 5 nights (April 2025) and our included breakfast was delicious every morning.
The staff was friendly, always helpful but unobtrusive, and spoke adequate english.
The location in El Centro was convenient to everything needed, shopping, food, entertainment, etc.
Rooftop view was average and the rooftop pool was enough to get wet if you need.
There is no phone in the room and no tv so if that is what you are looking for (we were not..), this is not that type of establishment.
There is no elevator- it is 3 story walkup.
Rooftop lounge area included chairs and the small pool.
There is a bar in the lobby area that was quiet and underused.
Would definitely recommend and would definitely revisit.
Solo female traveler approved!!! The Flamingo Hotel is a true gem. I stayed there for 27 nights and here are some examples as to why:
1. As a female independent traveler, safety is paramount. The Flamingo Hotel has an excellent reputation for safety and Francisco, the night guard, is always promptly ready to keep an eye on the hotel after hours. All rooms are electronic-entry. The hotel is a peaceful oasis placing it close enough to the boardwalk for easy walking but not so close that you feel like you’re in the fray. It is literally the perfect location.
2. Staff is par excellence: The owner, Tom, is welcoming and respectful at all times. Tom was so helpful in obtaining a taxi, is bilingual, and can easily advise on nearby places to eat or visit. Oscar, concierge elite, is the right-hand man who ensures that guests are informed & comfortable at every level. He is at the top of the hospitality game! Many reviews mention how wonderful Oscar is and they’re all true. Next, Carolina and Angela prepare the BEST food with a full menu of healthy ingredients and delicious meals (I highly recommend the tortilla espanola, huevos rancheros, or the French toast!!).
3. Location, location, location: Positioned within quick walking access to the best burritos on the island (shout out to Crazy King Burritos), many shops, the plaza, and yes the beautiful ocean! You can see the ocean from the rooftop pool.
The Flamingo Hotel is a 10/10–and will be my go-to for many years to come!
This is a great hotel! The staff is VERY friendly. The location of the hotel is very close to the ocean with options for several restaurants around it. They offered a great breakfast included in the cost, and the rooms were big and clean. A/C, waterfall shower, and a balcony to sit and relax complimented this experience. We will be back!!
Thebpeople who worked there were FANTASTIC , helpful and kind. Facility itself was nicely appointed. Had an issue with A/C, and they switched rooms for us when the tech wasn't able to come that day. It's really quiet, but also super close to Centro. Easily walkable to shopping, dining, taxi stand, everything you want!
Perfect location and great staff!
Nice and clean.
No hot water for shower, no tv, bar not open
The owner Tom went above and beyond! We had a small situation at check in (we had changed our reservation last minute) but Tom was able to help correct it and we were incredibly happy and grateful! We even walked us around and showed us a couple places to eat and helped us rent a car. The complimentary breakfast was more than expected and very fresh. We look forward to returning soon 😁
Excellent location! So easy to walk to restaurants!
We loved the size of the hotel. The location was great and the pool is not big, but sufficient. The staffing was a bit sparce, but luckily we did not need much, so it really did not pose a problem. I will definitely stay here again. It is very close to the heart of San Miguel where you can do the touristy thing or go to the restaurants more visited by the locals.
Loved staying at the Flamingo Hotel. We’ll definitely be back!
The location is good, easy access to the beach, downtown, bank, superstore. Oscar, the manager is nice, he is trying his best to accommodate. Rooms are nice, quiet area, staff is nice. Be prepared for no TV in the room, wifi internet works only some times, water is city so sometimes can be off, owner did a good job with renovation, hopefully it will be finished soon!
I enjoyed my stay! I would choose this hotel again!
Staff is super nice but the place is very misrepresented online. When I asked ahead of time about parking I was told there is parking “right across street” not the case. 15 min walk to parking. Says it has “common area TV….it does by the TV hasn’t worked in months. The room has 3 ceiling fans, two of which do not have blades in them….open wires sticking out of ceiling. Takes 10 minutes of running the water to get any hot water….and it’s not hot. Never felt unsafe but the place is just not that great. WIFI constantly kicked me offline which made it impossible for me to work. Lots of potential but the owner appears to be unwilling to invest into making it nicer.
Staff is wonderful, fixed issues promptly. Excellent breakfast made to order by wonderful lady. Room was large and clean. Air conditioning worked perfectly. Water was out in whole hotel and within a few hours they had service man there and issue was resolved. Hot water was just warm not a steaming shower, but it got the job done. The rooftop area was nice with a couple of lounge chairs and a small pool that was immaculately clean. Area around hotel has many restaurants nearby all within a 20 minute walk. Traveled as a single woman and never felt unsafe walking in town after sunset. I would rerun without hesitation.
We had a great 4 day stay at the Flamingo. The room was large and had lots of closet space. The housekeeping was great with fresh towels daily and the beds made perfectly. The staff was friendly and efficient. Thevowner was very helpful with anything we had questions about and visited with the guests so it felt very nice. It felt more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel as the guests all visited with
each other and gave us suggestions of places to see or eat. The location was easy walking distance to the ferry and shopping and good restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.
This is a tricky review to write. Our room featured some nice decorative touches like new bathroom fixtures and a great ceiling fan. However, the room was lacking in some other areas: no coffee maker, no water bottles to get us started, no full length mirror, no drinking glasses and no places to dry towels and swimsuits, the over head light fixtures did not work so we made do with two side table lamps. There was no television and the internet was week in our room. The pool area was underwhelming and small, but had a great panorama view. Parking is street only and yes we did get a parking ticket. We had quite the adventure paying it at the government center.
The upside is that the morning staff were friendly and made a great breakfast. The location is great, there are several really great restaraunts within feet of the hotel. The Maple Bakery is awesome. We felt safe in the neighborhood. Expect a little noise at night.
All in all we spent this part of our trip out and about so it was okay that it was lacking in some ways.
