Like the location
The bed is too hard
It is a big hotel, the reception looks stylish and it seemed to be very popular, as there were many guests.
To travel from the hotel to downtown, you can take the bus at Tap Seac or Calcada da Guia stations that are 100m away.
The room did not look like 5 stars, the furniture is a bit dated and the toilet facilities too. But it was clean.
The hotel does not provide a free shuttle service anymore so you have to use public transport to get around. On the way from the hotel there are 2 stations with many routes but on the way back to the hotel, due to the many one way streets there are not so many possibilities, closest station being Calcada da Vitoria. You can also walk like 500m from Grand Lisboa, but the road is pretty steep and it would be a challenge with luggage.
The staffs were friendly and accommodating. Food is also good and hotel is clean.
Considering the price I paid, the view wasn't very nice either.
The hotel sits at the perfect location to see the tourist spots in the centre. The staff is friendly and check-in and check-out was very efficient. The room size and bathroom are ok.
The hotel is past its best years. I didn't mind outdated furniture but the room smelled moldy when we turned the AC off for a bit. The bathroom had a constant moldy smell which was irritating and only acceptable for the 2 days we were staying there.

Hotel che a suo tempo ha sicuramente vissuto momenti di gloria, oggi come 5 stelle appare un tantino meno luminoso. Stanza ampia e comoda, ottimi i cuscini, materasso duro (lo saranno anche quelli di altri hotel di pari categoria in giro per la Cina del sud, sarà forse il loro standard di riferimento). Presenza di frigobar e cassaforte (mai scontata). Posizione strategica per la visita appiedata del centro storico. Sala colazione panoramica con ottimi prodotti ed ampia scelta. Segnalo tra la frutta anche il frutto del drago e tra i (pochi) dolcini offerti dei mignon portoghesi veramente buoni.
Consigli utili: cambiate assolutamente al momento dell’arrivo (treno o aereo) del denaro in dollari di hong kong perché 9 tassisti su 10 accettano solo contanti (niente alipay, wechat ecc), stessa cosa per i mezzi pubblici con la tessera che si deve ricaricare con contanti, per cui potreste trovarvi in difficoltà se come me arrivate a tarda notte. Ho scritto dollari di Hong Kong e non Pataca di Macao perché in città li quotano in maniera equivalente per cui se dopo Macao intendente andare a Hong Kong sappiate che la Pataca lì non viene riconosciuta per cui è saggio cambiare direttamente in dollari di Hong Kong. Altra notazione utile il cambio praticato in hotel l’ho trovato più conveniente rispetto a quello praticato nell’unico punto cambio che ho incontrato girovagando per tutta la città storica pressi del casinò Gran Lisboa (ad Hong Kong invece sono praticamente ovunque) nei per cui potete tranquillamente cambiare il vostro denaro in albergo.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Royal Macau and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting the city. The hotel has a charming old classic feel, with a beautiful colonial-style design that gives it a unique character you don’t often find in modern hotels.
The location is excellent—right in the center of Macau—making it incredibly convenient to explore nearby attractions, restaurants, and historic sites on foot.
What truly stood out was the service. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and professional, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable from check-in to check-out.
The breakfast was another highlight, with a great selection and quality that set us up perfectly for the day.
Overall, Hotel Royal Macau offers a great combination of classic charm, prime location, and excellent service. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice staff
We really found the hotel’s location extremely convenient. We were able to walk around and explore the UNESCO World Heritage part of the city with ease.
The room was quite small, and the provisions were limited—for instance, there was only one tea bag or coffee sachet provided for two people, so we had to request additional supplies. On the positive side, the reception staff were very accommodating and kindly allowed us a late check-out, which we greatly appreciated.

Excellent support of hotel staff. I forgot my bag in the taxi on departure after getting dropped at HZMB Bus station. On contacting the hotel, the staff spontaneously found the taxi details through CCTV camera recording of the hotel. There after they contacted the taxi driver and directed him to deliver my bag at the point where taxi had dropped me. An excellent job.
