Pestana Palm Gardens

Old property. The kitchen door handle was broken. The bathroom tap kept dripping, no soap in kitchen. Frayed old towels. Baed room AC started dripping water on day 2 and had to shut it off.
Lady at the reception unhelpful and made comments about too many tourists.
Overall, not recommended.

We had a hassle on check in based on number in our party even though the room could easily accommodate us. The beds were hard and we didn’t get our queen bed. Towels weren’t the cleanest. Pool area was nice. Villa space was great as was the view

This place was wonderful! It’s a little piece of paradise in the Algarve. The units are large and very beautiful. The staff is amazing and goes out of their way to make your stay as great as possible. I will be back! Amazing!

The properly is run down. Aunts everywhere. Staff is not friendly at all and is a bit rude. Will not recommend to stay here.

We love the property and the friendly staff. The restaurant Sal & Tal was excellent.

I ended my stay at the Pestana Palm Gardens in Carvoeiro in the worst possible way. I was in my last days at the hotel and was walking past the pools with my husband, and I heard a heated argument between two women, these women were workers there because they were in uniform. One of them was treating another colleague badly, it seemed to me that they were cleaning the houses and one of them was the boss of the other. The one who seemed to be the boss was shouting at the girl with curly hair and with her arms in the air pointing her finger in her face, I found it despicable and very ugly and even worse because the customers saw everything. I hope that the hotel takes measures against the cleaning manager and that the same humiliation does not happen again.

10 minute walk to an amazing beach. Quiet patio for morning coffee. Allowed late checkout.

The washing machine was half filled with dirty water that smelled horrible. The entire room and hallway smelled. We got over this issue and the inability to wash our clothes midway through our trip but then the roaches started running around our room and we were done. The front desk did move use to a new unit at 1130pm for which we were thankful.

Wonderful tiny apartment. Very quiet area , super clean and kind staff. Parking right outside our door for the rental made coming and going a breeze. Oh!! And… there are 2 balconies!! Beds are extra firm but we loved it and rooms are decorated nicely and appear on the newer side. We loved our stay here, conveniently located close to a beach town (5 min away), Benagil caves ( 10 minute drive)). Well worth it! We will be back!

just returned from 4 nights. we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom. 2 storey house overlooking the pool. The house was clean spacious and had everything we needed.
However, although the house was lovely. with attractive surroundings. i would say that this is probably 3 not 4 stars. There is need for updating as well as repairing and upkeep of the hotel grounds.
we had breakfast included. This was lovely. great variety and nicely cooked. would definitely suggest new towels as they have definitely had their day.
Even though some negatives of this property i would say a lovely peaceful break was had and would recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Pestana Palm Gardens. The place was clean, quiet and perfect for kids. Nice pool, beautiful views and close to the beach. We’d definitely come back!

Looks very nice from outside but the property is old and not the best maintained. Staff are nice and responsive. The interior of the accommodation was very ordinary even the towels were old and worn. Near to the city center and somewhat walkable 20/25min to the beach.

I liked using this hotel as my base for many activities. I could walk to the beginning of the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail in about ten minutes by heading east. The views are spectacular. I could walk ten minutes west to get to an excellent place for breakfast or lunch "Earth Shop and Cafe." We had a car so we could also do outings, for example, Praia Nova (for the beach and the lovely chapel on the cliffs), and Silves for the castle and the storks by the river as you enter the town.

We stayed in Unit 60, a 2 bedroom unit with balcony. We requested a sea view prior to arrival and we were told yes we would have a sea view. When we walked into our unit we quickly determined that our lower level garden view was of grass and a wall and the sea view was an obstructed view of water from the far edge of the balcony, We went back to the front desk to advise there was not a sea view, we were told that RCI clients only get this if it is available. The front desk also indicated that we could see some water from the balcony so it was considers partial sea view. Additionally, we were advised only 2 bedroom units have a sea view.
The units are quite large, however very dated. Our 2 bedroom unit apparently sleeps 6, however 2 people would be sleeping on sofas. The kitchen had a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, stove and refrigerator. There is a mid size TV in the main living dining area and a smaller TV in the master bedroom. These TV’s are not smart.. no streaming/mirroring. The unit does not let in a lot of light even with curtains open. The kitchen was not well stocked with either dishes or cooking items. The dining area for “potentially” 6 is extremely small. The unit has two bathrooms. One with a very old shower unit and sink, the other with a very tall tub with shower head. Climbing in and out of this slippery tub was not enjoyable. There is maid service everyday, however we declined most days other than getting fresh towels as they were not drying fast enough as drying area is shaded.
There is a small play area for toddlers. The pool is large, however very very cold even for the very brave. There is a fitness centre which we did not use and rundown Tennis courts. The grounds could use some attention/maintenance. The restaurant – Sal & Tal is quite good and the pool bar was very reasonable. The staff are extremely friendly.
The 2nd floor balcony is very large, and has 4 loungers, a table and 6 chairs. Unfortunately it does not have a barbecue. There is not even a shared barbecue area of the complex. The patio furniture both on the ground level and up on the 2nd floor balcony is uncomfortable green plastic.
Palm Gardens Ocean & Golf Villas is walking distance from the pretty town of Carvoeiro in the Algarve. Note that the walk is a long steep uphill from the centre of Carvoeiro. If you stay here, I highly recommend renting a car to get groceries, visit all of the nearby “praia’s” and boardwalks along the cliffs. A boat trip to see Benagil Caves is a must do.
I would not stay here again as there a many other choices in the area that are well maintained and for a similar price point.

Check in was very quick. We asked fro a ground floor unit and they changed it for us. Once in the unit, it was fine but there were no blinds on front kitchen window and the bathroom was extremely small. The stove was hard to operate and we never figured out the wash machine. The entire property was clean but dated and the hotel next door was under a complete reno. Staff at the property were very courteous but very limited English.

I stayed there just for 1 night, room was clean and specious, area was amazing , went for morning walk the views were amazing. Had a dinner in their restaurant, food and service was great.

Stayed here for a little winter escape with my boyfriend. We were upgraded to a 2 bed villa which was a lovely surprise as ended up with so much space. The villa was very clean and the maids were lovely. The staff in the restaurant were very attentive and friendly.

Nice lodging units. We got upgraded to a 2 bedroom unit. The exteriors looks amazing. The interiors are awesome. The kitchen had everything you need, including a dishwasher and a washing machine. The pool looked amazing. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Many people were in resort for long stay and repeated customers. They had their own restaurant but were not far away from downtown full of restaurants and shopping.
