A wonderfully comfortable stay with excellent hospitality

We had a fantastic experience at Phi Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is calm, stylish, and thoughtfully maintained, which made it an easy place to relax after exploring the city.

Our room was spotless, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. The bed was especially good—supportive, cosy, and perfect for a great night’s sleep. Breakfast each morning was a real highlight: fresh, varied, and beautifully presented, with plenty of choice whether you want something light or something more indulgent.

We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant one evening, and it was an excellent decision. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and clearly made with care. The service was warm and professional, and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable.

Overall, Phi Hotel delivered everything we hoped for—comfort, quality, and genuine hospitality. We left feeling refreshed and very well looked after. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Stay and the Adventure of the Yellow Shirt
Pros:

Location is fabulous, but it’s Bologna! Breakfast was perfect and lovely, but it’s Bologna! The hotel personnel we accommodating to my temporary crutches situation with occasional scooter, to the point they allowed me to park it in a downstairs closet that one of them sweetly called a garage. 😁 We decided to go back and stay there again and even as we left they offered us wrapped candies for the journey. Little did we know at the time, we did something we never do: left a yellow shirt behind. We emailed the hotel 🏨 to receive a prompt reply and how to get it shipped to us in the US. After a user error in my part paying for shipping, the box arrived and it felt heavy for one linen shirt. Inside, we found a pair of pants, socks, tee, and the yellow linen shirt. All belonged to us. We are delighted to have the items but even more delighted to report that the hotel personnel were kind, diligent and patient at every turn. When we go back to Bologna, and we will, we will gladly stay at the Phi Hotel. Thank you people at the Phi Hotel whose work each day may go unnoticed. You are appreciated.

Location superb. Right at the heart of the old town. Staff could not have been more helpful

Cons:

Room OK, but overlooking the street, so noisy at night. Bathroom OK, but towels old. Shouldn't have had to ask for toilet rolls to be renewed. Breakfast average - bread rolls and croissants ran out without being replaced; scrambled eggs left too long before being refreshed; little fresh fruit (in Italy!). Because of the modest quality of the breakfast, never tried the hotel restaurant for dinner ... not a problem ... lots of excellent restaurants nearby.
