Today’s the day they closed for good thank God. Had to change our room two times due to hair on bed and in bathroom . Mold in shower plus hair ! Hair everywhere ! Yellow sheets . We ended up getting our own bedding and pillows . It’s run down hotel , pool closed for service they say and parts of hotel is closed sucks won’t even let me dog stay here .
Check in was awful. The guy at the desk took a super long time to check us in. As we were checking in a tow company kept coming in and asking about cars with out hotel tags hanging from the mirror to tow away. They were about to take a picture of mine and my husband stopped them. They dont accept credit cards there so you have to give a cash deposit and then at check out they go up and check your room before you leave and then if its ok, they return your cash deposit.
Property needs to be renovated. There aren't any refrigerators in the rooms. No ice machines, but has ice buckets. The towels are dingy. I spilled some water on the bathroom floor. When I wiped it with a tissue, it became black. There was long hair left on the bathroom from a previous customer . Note, I'm bald.
What may have once been a good hotel has been reduced to staying in a crack house. Warnings taped to walls about towing cars, no drugs and no weapons. Any police activity will result in eviction. I literally was scared to stay here. What attracted me was the price but I guess you get what you pay for.
The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating during check in. The entire hotel smelled of stale smoke and alcohol. The room was smokey, there were beer cans, and ashes fromnthe previous guest. There were roaches and mold in the bathroom.
I took some pictures of what me any my family had to forcibly had to accept because the hotel did not give back refunds! You’ll see roach, tv didn’t work, stains all over the room, water came out yellow, the Elevator went down almost got stuck with us in it. And room service never came to clean and patience was short with customers and when We needed 2 more pillows was denied.
no toilet paper, no paper cups, elevator not working. terrible place
The place was horrible, it was a welfare hotel, it smelled and was not taken care of. There was no maid service and no towel service. The hall ways were dark and dingy, the elevator had something spilled on the wall and it smelled. I will never, ever go to this place. Also i was charged 85.00 per night and the price on the billboard was 59.99 per night. Total disaster and should not be a hotel that is part of the Hotel.com offerings.
The rooms weren’t that good at all , old model , no working heat in the room and no wash clothes smh customer service was bad had to wait up to 30 mins to get deposit back. Would definitely not recommend to any one to stay even if one night
IT WAS NOT THE HOTEL THE INTERNET SHOWED. IT WAS A DISGUSTING PLACE TO STAY AND I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE.
This was the WORST mistake I could have made. We needed a room just got the night since having house work done. Found this and from check in to check out it was horrible. Dirty! Had wait 1.25 hours for them change linen because it was dirty! Then comforter she changed to had a 2 inch hole in it. Then the bathroom shower curtain had MOLD on it. There were bugs in the bathroom floor ! I can’t believe I used my hard earned money here. This is a JOKE.
Why this place is only taking cash? If people don't have cash they what they do?
Areas is so dirty, room so dirty, bed and sheet is so dirty., very bad area. don't go here
I paid for my stay through Hotels.com. Prior to checking in, I received an email saying that I was to pay a $3.00 tourism fee per night and put down a $50 cash deposit. I called Hotels.com customer service to attempt to switch hotels but that would incur a substantial fee. When I was shopping for a hotel, I was doing it based on price. I don’t want any surprise fees upon arrival. The WiFi was unreliable. There was no refrigerator. There was a picture of a restaurant seemingly within the hotel on the website however there wasn’t a restaurant in which I could eat. There was no daily cleaning service. There was no breakfast or even coffee in the lobby. Completely bare bones hotel. I could have paid less nightly and gotten more. The staff there did treat me kindly.
Not what I was expecting. Required cash for entire bill. Required $50 cash extra that was returned in the morning AFTER room was inspected. Staff was courteous. Room was very sparse (no cups, not even one plastic one).
Hotel.com is a rip off, daily rate was $15 less than "Special Coupon". Definitely not using this service again.
We booked a stay at the Akaza hotel while returning from a family vacation in NC. We decided to stop in Richmond to seek out and visit certain points of interest. I paid in advance for two nights at the Akaza through Hotels.com believing that I was booking accommodations in a clean business conference center hotel... NOPE. The business that is conducted at rooms in this hotel are not the kind that taxes are paid on. We didn't feel safe from the moment we arrived. My car was being prepared for towing by an aggressive "bandit" tow truck operator, within 15 minutes of arriving, while I was checking-in, and within 30 feet of the front door of the hotel (in the hotel's lot). A $50 CASH security deposit was required, the sheets and pillows were unclean, the shower curtain had mold, the room carpet had been soiled by unimaginable substances, there was an offensive odor in the room, and throughout the hotel, no iron, no wash cloths, no maid service unless you call for it. The key/door for the first room did not work, so we had to be given another room. The staff was unprofessional and 3 bottles of Corona beer were clearly visible on the staff's desk at the check-in counter. We checked-out after 2 hours. Our safety, and the preservation of my car and property, were more important than the cost of a 2-night stay. There was no manager on duty to express our concerns, only the staff with beer. Akaza refused to refund. Hotels.com offered $80 coupon for a future visit.
We arrived and checked in to the hotel which the sign face was literally falling off. The staff checked us in and required a cash deposit of 50.00. Upon entering the room the refrigerator was not plugged in, and the ice machine was no longer in the building, we later noticed a rat trap in the place it used to be. We checked the coffee pot to ensure there would be coffee for the AM. The filter was full of mold. The pot was replaced by a house keeper in street shorts and t-shirt that explained she came right over to take care of it after just opening her first alcoholic beverage. She seemed to live at the hotel? We left for the race in Richmond. Upon our return, we began to settle into the room. I turned back the sheets and went to move the decorative pillows to discover large rodent feces under the pillows. One of the pillows was actually chewed into. We immediately notified the desk we would be checking out and expecting a refund. They tried to offer an upgraded room. We had a loss in confidence at this point. We requested a full refund and were told to contact Expedia and Expedia would refund it. My boyfriend called his bank and we tried to call Expedia to explain the issue but the person who took the call was very difficult to understand and asked that we email.
All-around dirty, one TV station and loud guests yelling in hallways. Unsanitary their soap bar wouldn't even lather. Mold on shower curtain.
Bathroom floor was dirty and unswept. Base of wall behind toilet was crumbling. Tub drained slowly. Very slowly. There are better run budget hotels.
Once I arrived to the hotel, I realized that it wasn’t up to my expectations from the photos. The hotel looked like low encome housing from the outside. The hallways and room smelled like a locker room. And the room had an outdated tv from the early 2000s.
I will list the many reasons not to book here:
-No one mans the front desk. You have to call a number to get someone to come out the back (at all hours)
-There are crazy fees for everything. A $3 tourism fee. . .in Richmond, VA? A $50 hold is placed on your card for 7 days. Late check-out (we are talking 30 minutes) is $15.
-It was 11:30am when we were preparing to leave and Shanta, the manager, literally came into our room and demanded we leave unless we gave her $15 for being there past 11am.
-Shanta refused to give me her business card or contact information so I could file a complaint about the hotel. When I asked her for her name, she claimed she did not give this information out. Her name was on our "itemized bill" though.
-The rooms were very dirty and nothing worked - phones and TV were broken, there was used soap and dirty towels in the bathroom
-Very sketchy area
-No service whatsoever
-Pretty sure our "cash only" charges were all pocketed as the itemized statement they gave us did not allocate the funds we gave appropriately for a receipt
