This is the first time I have stayed here since the pandemic. Wow. What a decline. No room service, an hour late with my wake-up call (which fortunately was backup to my iPhone alarm), no tissues, not even a pen or paper. But it is very, very convenient. Perhaps this is the new norm. Disappointing for me.
Charlie with Hgv was amazing and soo kind. He told me and my friends along with his colleague about the vacation package here at the Hilton. Great deal!
We were removed from our flight by American after already boarding, making us 12 hours late to get home to our kids. They didn't give us a hotel voucher and we had an unplanned 7 hour layover in Chicago. We walked over to Hilton after midnight, exhausted, and Talathia was able to get us a good deal on a king bed room. It was so awesome to have a hot shower and a few hours of sleep before getting home. She also gave us tooth brush, tooth paste and waters. Thank yoiu Talathia!
Our flight was cancelled and so I ended up staying at Hilton unexpectedly. My flight was rescheduled for 2 days later. The front desk staff, especially Dahlia, were amazing in helping make my arrangements and making my daughter and I feel special. It was my birthday and we were even given a special treat. The service was great, the rooms were clean, and the location was ideal next to O'Hare. Highly recommend and be sure to say hi to Dahlia who was very friendly, understanding of our situation, and helpful.
Charlie with HGV was very helpful in giving me some ideas for future vacations. We had a nice talk in the lobby of a beautiful Hotel. I’m heading off to have lunch in your Restaurant before I get on a flight to Spain later tonight. I’ve got to find someplace warm. 😮💨
Like so many people, I got stuck at O’Hare due to the travel mess of storm Fern and chose to stay there because I had an early flight the next morning and liked the convenience of being able to walk to the terminals through a tunnel from the hotel.
That is the ONLY positive feature of this hotel.
I’m not sure when it was built but the rooms probably haven’t been updated since then. They are dark, dirty and grimy. In addition, mine was a “no allergy” room with a weird smell.
The worst thing of all is that it was freezing in the room even though the heat system was turned on to the maximum.
I didn’t get any sleep and was happy to have to get up at 4:30am to escape this depressing hotel.
Oh, and no water bottles in the room even though I’m a HH member
Charlie with HGV was very professional, funny and informative in helping me out with using my honors account and getting the best deals on future trips.
We stayed here due to an early morning flight out of O’Hare. It cost over $400 due to the convenient location. While the convenience was great, I would expect to not find holes in the carpet, worn furniture and patched up wallpaper. The shower and in-room coffee was pretty good. It wasn’t very loud. The air system looks like it was installed in the 70s, but it kept the room warm even with below zero temperatures. There are lots of other hotels very close by that are much nicer and a lower price point. We will do that next time.
Jeff from HGV was amazing in helping me understand my ownership and packages. I will book more.
I had a great experience speaking with Charlie from Hilton Honors. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the different benefits and offerings available. He made everything easy to understand and was genuinely pleasant to talk to. Excellent customer service!
Was an ok hotel clean easy acess , great veiw from our room good bathroom had a good sleep very quite st night we felt safe overall happy
Location is great if you are stuck at the Chicago (ORD) airport. However, for the cost the value is not great. While the lobby gives the vibe of a luxury hotel, the room provides a Motel 6 experience. The carpet was worn and dingy, trash cans designed for appearance and not use, bathrooms dated, and furniture very basic. Arriving late can also be a risk as the bar is open later than restaurants, but the staff can be short and dismissive. The small coffee shop is more helpful, but if you need anything from the kitchen you can tell the same bar staff experience places unnecessary and unprofessional stress on the coffee shop staff. If not for the helpfulness of the coffee shop person and the front desk employee that checked us in, the review would have been one start. The price you pay is for location, not for what the hotel actually provides.
The people running this hotel are, indolent, incompetent and dishonest.
We went directly to our room at about 7:30 pm on 12/18. The room on the 9th floor was frigid. We tried turning up the heat and could tell it was not working.
We also have discovered that there was no water bottoes in the room.
I called down to ask for assistance with the heat. Then I asked for water. The desk agent rudely stated,”the runners don't deliver water to the rooms. You have to come down to front desk. I explained that I had arthritis in my knees. She still was rude and dismissive. I asked for the manager. Then she agreed to send water up.
The person arrived to fix the heat. He looked briefly and told me it was 50 earlier in the day. I told him it's December in Chicago and no one should be surprised at 27 degree temperatures. The room should be warm. He was snippy and told me thank you for the education.
I asked for a manager on the phone. I explained my frustrations. She agreed to take 50 dollars off of the room.
When I got the bill no reduction.
For 426 dollars a night this is disgustingly pathetic.
The man
I had a great experience thanks to Charlie at HGV. From the moment he introduced himself to me, he was extremely welcoming and friendly. Even though I was only in town for a few days, he took the time to talk with me for a while and really made me feel at home. He also offered some great deals and helpful options for a future stay, which I truly appreciated. Charlie went above and beyond, and he definitely made my time at the hotel even better. Highly recommend!
I arrived at the hotel yesterday at 10:00am. They told me that there was a room available but I would have to pay $75 to check in early. It is one thing if I called ahead and had guaranteed early check in but to do that on arrival when a room was available is unacceptable. I complained and then they offered me to only pay $25. At that point I asked to speak to a manager. Keep in mind that I am a Hilton honors member and the room rate was $300+. As a result I cashed in 100,000 points for one night. The person checking me in did not great me, he did not thank me for being a Hilton honors member, he just grumbled “are you checking in or checking out”. Not even a hello. He went to the back and left me standing there while he looked for a manager, and then came back and said they would make a one time exception and not charge me. I appreciated that, but the whole unfriendly experience did not start my trip out well. I went to my room which was fine. Nothing special but acceptable. I was feeling very discouraged. I left the room to take an uber to the city and was greated by a new employee in the lobby named Jeff. This man was exceptional. He asked me about my day and helped guide me on where to get an uber. Management would do well to put him behind the front desk and reassign the grumpy gentleman who checked me in. Jeff is why I gave this review 3 stars, that and that in the end I was not charged to check in early. In the evening I went to the restaurant and took my one year old granddaughter. The wait staff was very nice. The Mac and cheese for my granddaughter was exceptional but my pizza was hard and awful. In the end staying at the airport was very convenient, but if you want customer service and a more affordable option I would take the airport shuttle to a Marriott.
Charlie was great and helped us get some really fun vacation ideas with Hilton! We look forward to the vacation package we set up with Charlie
Jeff was very nice and informative explaining the hilton honors program! He showed us the different locations that are offered.
I had an early morning flight scheduled and despite the $350+ nightly rate I decided to splurge on the Hilton O'Hare. Its perfect location allows me to get up and just walk to the gate.
But, at that price and having lifetime status with Hilton, I normally expect some recognition and extra touches (water in the rooms, robes etc.) The room was just basic. I've stayed here many times over the past decade and I am amazed that the rooms never get renovated.
When I got up the hotel had no water available from the hot tap, just air.
Went to check out and the one very overburdened person at the counter worked really hard servng a string of flight crews that just kept cutting in line. When I got to the counter I was promptly offered a refund. So the Hotel gets credit for doing the right thing.
Until this place gets a thorough refresh, and adds some reception staff I n think I'll start staying elsewhere.
1st time using airport assistance, for my spouse, to get around, both departing and returning.
EXCELLENT!
Met at ticket counter, escorted thru TSA, down to gate, while there, offered to assist for anything personal. On return, met immediately at plane, escorted, and waited, till Uber arrived.
It was early November in Chicago and Hilton still hadn’t switched their system over to heating. Not even the fan system worked. We were given a space heater and told it should be switching soon. Wake up at 2am heat blaring and fan on high. Very noisy hotel. Something outside - not planes runs every 5 minutes. Staff helpful enough but just not the Hilton standard one is expecting.
