Worst hotel ever I stay. When check in at night 11:30 they gave Room number 205 & that room already occupied. So I told then they give room 24 triple room was very unhygienic, toilet was unclean, fan not working. I complain but no listen. I already informed at the time of booking that we are vegetarian so provide veg food no egg, then also not provide then I again argue then they provide vegetable.

But experience of checking out will send soon. And I want my money spend in room want refund by hotel.

Wonderful architecture and ambience. Older building, no elevator but stairs. Muslim environment but not overly so. Good solid breakfast. If going out after dark travel in a group or request a taxi to the hotspots of town. I love this place but if you want shiny and new with hot and cold running staff, it's not for you. If you want to feel like you are on Stone Town, almost like a local, this is the place to be.

The manager did what he could to make it good for me. The hotel is just woren out. The shower was not working and toilet had s bad smell. The hotel is located next to the port of Zanzibar - so there was noise 24/7 from the street - very hard to sleep. The hotel is located close to forodhani park which is convenient.

Very kind Staff. But it was not possible to get in touch, neither with E-Mail nor by phone. But once we got there, we were very well received

Convenient location right at the ferry and close to most things in Stone Town. The air condition worked well and the hot water too. However the room itself was terrible, it had a foul smell of mold, and the bathroom is the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel. The shower is basically on top of the toilet, meaning everything gets wet whenever you want to take a shower there. Breakfast is basic, but somehow alright. For the price you can definitely find better options in town.

We booked this hotel after having read reviews and were a little disappointed considering the price that we paid and the images that we saw. We felt very deceived as you pay a lot for not much. The room itself is basic (images uploaded) with a very hard mattress and extremely squeaky bed - it makes noise with the slightest of movements. The WiFi works well in the lobby area but is poor inside the bedrooms. Also, the breakfast that we paid extra for our convenience was not worth the money considering the options are limited and they were out of many ingredients; for example, they’d only have the egg and toast as part of the full English. The staff on the other hand were great, they were extremely friendly and helpful. They’d go out of their way to help you out!
Overall, our suggestions for Stone Town would be to look into a cheaper hotel as all you need is a place to stay or look into an Airbnb as the location and pricing would be more value for money. Everywhere in Stone Town is of walkable distance so don’t worry too much about location.

Its an alright place to stay for a night or two

Great place to stay for a few days, excellent service & great rooms.
It was noisy in the area but not too bad that you can't get some sleep.

Staff were lovely!

I was supposed to stay in this hotel for two nights. My room was on the ground floor (G01) and it smelled terribly due to big mouldy parts on the ceiling. I talked about the smell with the staff, but they were not able to offer me another room even though they were aware of the smell. The windows in this room could not be opened. When I came back after dinner they had sprayed the room against insects. Three big dead cockroaches were now lying around the bed and in front of the fridge. The smell had also gotten unbearable and there was no one at the reception anymore. Since I could not breathe in this room, I moved to another hotel. The next morning I officially checked out. They did offer me another room for the second night, but after the experience I had, I preferred staying somewhere else. However they didn’t offer me a refund even though they could out rent my initial room and the replacement room in the second night again.

The room is very clean (always clean!!!), excellent staff - they very friendly, great location, breakfast is excellent,
All the things in the room were excellent!

We stayed 3 nights to explore Stonetown.
The location is good for exploring stone town, but a little bit noisy with construction and traffic.
Breakfast was good and sheets were clean 👍.
Bathroom was not good. Lots of bugs and not separate shower.
Aircon not work so good.
Price is fair.
Good for short stay
