Everything
Nothing
The staff of the hotel is very nice. The hotel also provide free car to send guest to nearby places.
We used the Kempinski in St. Moritz as our home base for the Milano-Cortina 2026 events in Livigno.
Olympic Logistics: Staying in St. Moritz provided a luxurious and relatively convenient gateway to the snowboarding and freestyle skiing venues in Livigno.
The concierge was an absolute lifesaver. They were incredibly helpful with our travel arrangements between Switzerland and Italy and secured fantastic restaurant reservations for us.
Our room was excellent—well-maintained and sized appropriately, providing a comfortable space to recharge between trips to the Olympic venues.
Alpine luxury, this hotel is a perfect choice. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat!
While our stay at the Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski had many highlights, there were a few disappointments regarding the availability of on-site amenities during the early week.
Limited Openings: We stayed on a Monday and Tuesday, only to find that several of the hotel’s premier venues—including the Beluga Igloo Bar and Billionaire—were closed.
Missed Experiences: Not being able to access these specific spots was a letdown, as they were a big part of the draw for us.
Lesson Learned: In hindsight, if I had realized these facilities would be shuttered during our stay, I might have opted to stay directly in Livigno instead to be closer to the Olympic action.
Pro Tip: This may have been a scheduling oversight on my part rather than a fault of the hotel, but I highly recommend checking the operating days for their bars and clubs before booking if those are a priority for your trip!
The idea of staying at another Kempinski, this time in St. Moritz, really excited us both. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the service was generally excellent. We had great communication with the concierge before arriving, and the complimentary shuttle service worked perfectly — meeting us at the railway station and driving us wherever we wanted to go.
Our room was spacious, well stocked, and lacked for nothing. There is also a basement area for skiers to store and prepare their equipment — we weren’t skiing, but staff were happy to explain how everything worked if asked.
Now for the downside. If money is no object, you can stop reading and simply enjoy the hotel. While we can afford what the hotel offers, the prices were stupidly expensive, even by Swiss standards, so we chose carefully out of principle.
On our first night we ate at the Neora “Greek” restaurant. I have no idea what they were trying to achieve, but aside from the hugely inflated prices, Greek it was not. The tzatziki was the worst I have ever tasted, and many traditional Greek dishes were missing — where were the gyros, souvlaki (although there was one on the menu but chicken), kleftiko, Stifado? And in what world does anyone pay CHF 90 (around £90) for Garides Saganaki (red prawns) as a starter? The rest of the menu was equally exorbitant.
Another issue was the constant, awkward expectation of tips. Every time a member of staff did anything, there was a pause that made it clear a tip was expected. We only tip when we feel it’s deserved — for example, we gave our driver £20 when we left because he genuinely went above and beyond — but this led to many uncomfortable moments during our stay.
This atmosphere spoiled the experience somewhat and made us feel that this hotel perhaps just isn’t for us.
The saving grace was the absolutely superb breakfast, which had everything you could possibly wish for, served on beautiful table linen. That said, even here the service felt over-the-top — the moment a second set of cutlery was placed on the plate, it was whisked away.
In summary, while the hotel is undeniably beautiful, the pretentious, pompous atmosphere, the excessive prices, the overbearing service, and the expectation of tips mean that, for us, this hotel is not the right fit.
First time in Switzerland for my wife and I, it set an incredibly high standard for the rest of the trip 😅😅
Where do I start?
SERVICE - TOP NOTCH. 💯
Extremely friendly, approachable and accommodating staff in all areas from concierge, restaurants and spa/pool.
Breakfast buffet was absolutely divine. Buffet, omelette station, a la carte, whatever you want.
AMENITIES - WHAT DONT THEY HAVE? 🌟🌟🌟
Stunning double pool area and spas, with services on top to relax from a day on the piste.
Transport to the St Moritz Dorf and back during the day on schedules.
Can organise ski passes and other services but best to book in advance if you need lessons.
Restaurant offering is vast and an excellent set of lounge areas to wind down with a drink of your choice or a lighter dinner. PS - we were the very first customers of Neora (new Greek restaurant in hotel) and it was an amazing experience.
LUXURY - EVERYWHERE 🏛️❄️🪙
Look anywhere, its luxe in any direction. Plenty of room space, great views from your window and a cosy stay. The hotel itself from the outside is a wonder!
Everything was excellent. You are welcomed by a team that leaves no room for even the slightest dissatisfaction. A truly outstanding, friendly, and courteous staff who consistently go above and beyond to ensure their guests are happy at all times.
The only small drawback I could mention is that the rooms could benefit from a bit more natural daylight.🥲
Staff, location, rooms are great highly recommend
Nothing
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in - and we have stayed in many 5* and highly-rated hotels.
It is beautiful with amazing views, and very efficient service - as you would expect, but do not always get. The real USP though is the staff. Every single one was charming, friendly and helpful. Special mention goes to Tobias who checked us in and then drove us to the station for our onward journey. Our driver the previous day actually took the trouble to bring the Maybach to collect us from our trip - because my husband had expressed great enthusiasm when he saw the car. It was such a kind gesture and much appreciated.
We also enjoyed included access to cable cars and funicular.
Honestly can't fault - we are now saving up to return! (Swiss prices - eek!)
This hotel is so beautiful and the people make it extra special. We are from NYC and came here via Italy, and I injured my back during my travels. Everyone including the spa staff helped me get back on my feet and Simmons, the concierge helped arrange an ER visit ( which by itself was very good) . They all checked on me repeatedly. It was such warm Engadin valley hospitality. Food was great and the room was very well designed and spacious, and we enjoyed the pool and spa as well. They had recommendations for local activities even before we arrived. St Moritz is lovely. This was our first visit to the Swiss alps - and we’ll definitely be back, to this hotel as well as to the Swiss alps!
A true 10 out of 10 experience !!
