Staybridge Suites Colorado Springs North – A Tragicomedy in Six Acts
Pros:

Staybridge Suites Colorado Springs North – A Tragicomedy in Six Acts
★☆☆☆☆
Once upon a time, in a land of majestic Pikes Peak views and free breakfast, there existed a hotel that promised the comforts of home. What we received instead was a masterclass in absurdist theater, directed by broken locks, dying air conditioners, and a front desk that treated guest complaints like unexpected plot twists they refused to acknowledge.
Act I – The Arrival
We checked in on a Thursday, full of hope and medical optimism. Our first room greeted us with the warmth of a sauna: 81 degrees and an air conditioner that had clearly given up on life. We reported it. The hotel nodded solemnly, as if hearing a tragic backstory, and did nothing of substance.
Act II – The Great Migration
By Friday the AC was still deceased. We requested a room change. The new suite welcomed us with the lingering ghost of cigarettes past and a filter that smelled like it had personally witnessed the fall of Rome. We bought our own air freshener like medieval peasants purchasing their own candles. The smoke eventually faded… after a full day of effort on our part.
Act III – The Key Card Rebellion
This is where the true farce began. Nearly every single day, the key cards staged a coordinated uprising. Locked out after breakfast. Locked out after appointments. Locked out with dinner in hand, standing in a hot hallway for over thirty minutes while the front desk called for reinforcements. Our dinner died a slow, cold death. Maintenance arrived with the energy of people who already knew the ending: “It’s a connection issue. We don’t really have a fix.” Battery changes. Card resets. Reader tinkering. Same result.
Act IV – The Supporting Cast
One front desk associate appeared to be operating on a different frequency entirely (the herbal kind). The General Manager, Sonia, handled our concerns with the warmth of a tax audit and later suggested we had been the rude ones. (For the record: a key card was placed firmly on the counter. It was not hurled like a medieval weapon.)
Act V – The Medical Irony
We had come to town for my wife’s minor medical procedure. Her doctor’s orders were simple: limit stress. The hotel interpreted this as a challenge and rose to the occasion with daily lockouts, heat, smoke, and institutional indifference.
Act VI – The Resolution That Wasn’t
We checked out early. The hotel’s grand gesture of goodwill? One free night and a waived cancellation fee for nights we no longer wanted. When we asked for something closer to fairness, we were told this was “appropriate.”
This stay was not merely inconvenient. It was a prolonged exercise in futility, performed under the bright fluorescent lights of a corporate extended-stay hotel. We paid for functioning air conditioning, reliable access to our own room, and a space that didn’t require personal hazmat intervention. We received none of those things with consistency.
If you enjoy improvisational theater where the audience is locked out of the theater, this is your venue. If you simply want a hotel room that works, keep driving.
We have the receipts, the timeline, the ruined dinner, and the photographs. The tragedy was real. The comedy was unintentional. The one-star rating is generous.

Gross and poorly ran
Pros:

Go elsewhere.

This was our experience during our stay. Our room was dirty, and the beds were broken. The second-floor hallway and the main stairwell had a strong odor that smelled like vomit. The pool was green and appeared to be poorly maintained, and it was closed during our stay.

While we were at breakfast, we overheard an employee discussing the pool closure, and staff were cleaning extensively around the hotel that day. We also heard other guests say they believed the health department had been involved, but we can’t confirm whether that was true.

Overall, the property gave us the impression that routine maintenance and upkeep had been neglected, with problems being addressed only after they became significant. Breakfast was also disappointing. On multiple mornings, several food items ran out early, and we were told they would not be replaced for the remainder of breakfast service.

To be fair, not everything was negative. The evening social events were ok, and the live music was excellent. Unfortunately, those positives weren’t enough to outweigh the condition of the hotel, and we would not stay here again.

Broken AC and no help from Management
Pros:

We arrived to find out that the room they had for us had no Air Conditioning on a very warm day. The only other room available also didn't have AC. So the next day they moved us to a non Suite room which wasn't what we had originally paid for/booked. We spoke to multiple front desk people and the manager while we were there about getting partial compensation for the inconvenience as well as giving us a lower tier room. They kept delaying, after checking out, I called them and still didn't receive a call back. Due to horrible sleep on a hot night and the apathy from management, we cannot give it more than one star.

Stay far away from this dump
Pros:

I have no idea how this hotel is rated so highly here. My wife and I tried to stay at this location for a family event. The service and the hotel were just plain bad. The front desk clerk literally rolled her eyes at my wife when we first got there, and things only got worse from there. They were doing renovations -- replacing all the doors -- while still operating the hotel. The room we were assigned smelled like it was on fire (due to the construction), along with the entire hallway. I have asthma and allergies and couldn't stay there. To their credit, the front desk clerk and manager tried to find another room for us, but that one smelled like mold, so that one didn't work either. We ended up getting another hotel altogether, which made for a stressful night but was well worth not staying there. Other family members who stayed at the hotel had bad experiences -- holes in the doors so people could see inside, workers coming into rooms unannounced and being rude when questioned, and parts of the hotel (the basement or "1st floor") smelling like a combination of "cats and vomit." And the place isn't even cheap! Stay far, far away from this dump.

Stay elsewhere.
Pros:

We typically love to stay at Staybridge inn suites but this one just did not live up to the Staybridge name. Our stay was five nights. We were given a handicap room on the first floor which was fine. We asked the person at the desk where the ice was, she wouldn't tell us - she's like well there's an ice maker in your freezer in the room. And we're like okay. So we walked in first thing we noticed was a smell like vomit. The freezers ice maker didn't have an ice bin, so my husband went back down that ask for ice bin and was giving a metal bin that was much too large to put under the ice maker. So I had to use one of the cereal bowls in the room to try to catch ice. Next let's move on to the bathroom, it was a handicap bathroom and it had a bowed shower curtain. But the unit itself was rectangular had a 1 inch lip on it and so no matter how you fussed with the shower curtain you could absolutely not keep water from going all over the floor. The lighting in the bathroom was so dim it was almost night light quality. Housekeeping is every other day, which is fine, but there was no extras left like makeup packets or even toilet paper, we had to constantly go down for other supplies that should have been standard stocked when tidying up a room.

The breakfast was basic and no variety, it was the same all five mornings we stayed. The lady at the breakfast area struggled to keep up and a lot of things were empty and not replaced in a timely manner.

Evening reception- we attended on Wednesday. They offered macaroni and cheese and macaroni and some type of meat, maybe goulash, and they have a huge bin of salad. We got there about 15 minutes after it started and there was the smallest bottle of ranch dressing available for this huge bin of salad. Well, needless to say it was almost gone when we arrived. We asked for more and the lady said no that's all they had.

Over flowing trash cans and no one to attend to them. The hot tub was out of order and it looked like it had been for some time as it was absolutely no water in it at all. The pool is outside and is not heated- it was very cold. There were towels available in the pool area and plenty of seating.
This Staybridge is in need of major improvements.

Outdoors needs serious help
Pros:

We always stay here when we come thru for work. We love it when we find a place that's clean and looks good, feels like home away from home. However this last time we was there, the outdoor looked abandoned. Bushes need a good trimming, can't really walk on the side walk with out snagging on them, grass not mowed, garbage under the tree. Usually we noticed when they stop doing the outside, the inside goes down as well.

REMARKABLE, NEWLY RENOVATED, QUIET AND BEAUTIFUL GETAWAY!!!
Pros:

From the moment we were checked in by the front desk assistant manager Jordan, we were made to feel most welcome! It was immediately apparent that this property had undergone an extensive renovation from our previous stay a few months prior as the hotel sparkled brilliantly from the front lobby throughout the hallways and exquisitely displayed two-bedroom suite we enjoyed with the most breathtaking mountain view and scenery you will ever find! The personal touch and family atmosphere was apparent throughout our 4-day staycation. General Manager Scott Duarte is not just a figurehead but is immerses himself in hands-on duties that includes taking out the hotel trash and helping guests with whatever issues and questions they have. Many hotels advertise “Pet Friendly” but his hotel truly shows love and appreciation towards your pets and loves on them as if they were their own. Our Westie definitely appreciated the love and attention he received! We desperately were in need of quiet and relaxation during this staycation and we definitely got both during our stay here. We HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this absolute treasure for a getaway!

Gave away our handicap accessible room
Pros:

We had a very awful experience with this hotel. At least 6 weeks prior to staying at this hotel, we reserved a handicap accessible room with a roll-in-shower because we have a daughter in a wheelchair. When we arrived at the hotel, the manger Scott said they had upgraded our room to a two room suite. Immediately we said is it wheelchair accessible and of course it was not. They had not paid attention to that at all and gave our original room to someone who wanted to stay an extra night in that hotel room. No one called us or anything. The manager was somewhat apologetic but not overly. Of course, they had nothing else to offer us. Eventually, after some prodding, he called around other hotels and hooked us up with another hotel but had failed to tell them we needed a roll in shower. Eventually, we did the work and figured out how and where to stay to meet our needs. What bothered us the most is that we had specifically asked for that room and they completely ignored our request. Just curious as to their procedures on meeting the request of customers.

One complaint would be the smell of dog in the room I had. I found this may have contributed to some of my breathing issues as I am allergic to dander
