Difficult to find
Very friendly staff, peaceful relaxing bedrooms and delicious dinner in the Woodlands restaurant. Lovely getaway location.
Location and the food was above expectations
It does need a little TLC, upgrade in bathrooms/ bedrooms & main carpet in hallway.
2 min walk to Grafton street
Heating wasn't all that good, considering we had a very large room. However it was ok.
Great location and good facilities. The staff were really friendly.
Booked directly for Valentine's weekend €208 pp B&B. I called reservations a few times and left a voicemail after booking to confirm we had a double room and query whether a room with a view was available. The phone was never answered and I didn't get a call back, but we did get a double room. Check in after 4 was quite late but checkout of 12 was great so not an issue for us and it was made clear in the booking confirmation email. Location was great just off the M50 and close to the Sugar Loaf, Glendalough, and Powerscourt. Check in process was smooth and valentines cookies offered which was a lovely touch. Check in team were very friendly and helpful. Hotel seemed a little dated/tired but clean. Room was standard, cozy, and clean however no vanity items in bathroom beyond a soap bottle screwed to the wall and similar for a bottle of hair/body wash in shower. Brown staining on bathroom floor tiles. These aren't huge issues but not what I would expect in a 4 star hotel, this feeling unfortunately lingered on other aspects of our stay. We spent time in the leisure club, bad leak coming through one of the reception area walls but the facilities were excellent; sauna, steam room, pool, outdoor hot tub, jacuzzi etc. We didn't brave the cold plunge! Changing rooms were lovely and clean too. We were told no need to book the bar for food on check in, we were then told there were no tables when we got to the bar but the staff accommodated us after a short wait. It was busy but a good atmosphere. We found the menu limited but this is possibly more personal preference, our mains weren't great but did the job and pricing was what you would expect for bar food in a hotel. Our dessert was unfortunately inedible, a raspberry pistachio cheesecake that was a plate of flavoured gelatin. Staff were friendly and service was good overall. Dessert was removed from the bill, but the food wouldn't draw us back. The breakfast service the following morning was fine. Continental and hot food options. Staff seemed a little inexperienced/lost but were friendly and helpful. My partner got a full Irish; hashbrown was burned and sausages were small cuts of shrivelled grizzle. I got avocado and poached eggs and the whole meal tasted very strongly of a vinegar flavour. Again it did the job but wasn't great. Check-out process was quick and easy. Overall the experience was fine but elements were disappointing as we were paying for a 4 star hotel but unfortunately that didn't really line up with our experience. We don't go away regularly so it's more we had budgeted for this trip and were looking forward to it than griping over wanting absolute luxury. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The location and leisure facilities are excellent but the food was a real let down. Hits and misses throughout.
Lovely setting in amongst the trees and valley, first impression upon entering the lobby was clean, warm and nice atmosphere with a few people about, reception staff were friendly and efficient checking many in around same time, standard double room was spacious clean and warm, room had double bed, lockers with lamps, table two chairs separate dresser, two wardrobes, tv with decent channels, iron, hairdryer and well tiled bathroom with large bright area for mirror and sinks.
The conservatory bar on the friday night was busy enough and we both ordered different dishes which were tasty with no complaints, cocktails good as well, again the staff were friendly and efficient, the woodlands restaurant on sat feb 14th valentines night the staff were great and the food was exceptional, compliments to whoever was responsible for the food and presentation, the restaurant itself that night was busy but tlonly for the valentine menu it, could have been any night, perhaps a bit of red decor or hearts next time. Breakfast was great both mornings. Overall we both ejoyed the weekend here and would stay again, plus close to many attractions such as avoca house, glendalough, wicklow town and others.
Passed the Glenview hotel many times thinking I must stay there. So glad we did! The whole experience was fabulous. The hotel is beautiful, the food in the bar and staff on the first night was great. The food in the restaurant on the second nights was exceptional. So many flavours complemented each other in every dish, delicious. Again the staff were really lovely.
Breakfast was really fresh and plenty of choice.
The Glenview is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Wicklow and an ideal spot for sightseeing around Wicklow or just to simply enjoy the hotel and grounds.
Location close to bray and greystones.
Pool was great.
Found breakfast but overpriced for what you got
Pool
Rooms are old
Very poor room in need of repairs and carpet breakfast no fruit not a 4star hotel maybe 3 asked for fish and chips in restaurant got what I can only call fishfinger not good need to spend money on rooms and food 😞
Another 5* experience at the Glenview Hotel. The rooms, staff and facilities are five star level at four star prices. The view is incredible and there is beautiful Wicklow to explore during the day.....it's faultless
Really pleasant weekend break with family. Rooms were clean and well stocked daily with liquid refreshments, Pool and gym were fine.We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night. Staff in Restaurant were so nice and friendly to deal with. Gary and Aine looked after 8 of us so well, Such nice people to represent the hotel. They made our experience extra special. Stayed in the bar the second night and had a very enjoyable evening. Food was decent. We were fairly tipsy going to bed ( Sure why not). Definitely recommend👍
