Pros:

We had a fabulous stay!!
An atmospheric beautifully renovated country pub with fabulous rooms and a great easy access low level suite too.

FRUSTRATING.
Pros:

MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT WRITING THE REVIEW, AS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE PUB IS GOOD. WE STAYED TWO NIGHTS AND ON BOTH NIGHTS AND AT BREAKFAST THE PUB WAS UNDERSTAFFED. ON THE SECOND NIGHT WE HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR FROM ORDERING OUR MEAL TO RECEIVING IT. THE STAFF WERE DOING THEIR BEST AND APOLOGISED BUT CLEARLY UNDER TOO MUCH PRESSURE. THE FOOD WHEN IT ARRIVED WAS GOOD.

Cons:

MORE STAFF TO HELP RESPONSE TIMES WOULD HAVE MADE OUR STAY MUCH BETTER.

NOT 5* but a pleasant 3* stay.
Pros:

Clean rooms.

Cons:

This is NOT a 5* hotel. It’s a good 3* and should be considered as such. The rooms are nicely decorated but lack the extras needed to be considered 5*. Breakfast is chaotic. One member of staff working only, including taking orders, topping up the continental buffet, serving, sorting out checkouts and answering the phones. Dinning space is so dark that you can barely see your food. Maybe this is to disguise the cold fries and blood all over the plate from the un-rested steak.

Pros:

Edificio muy bonito que alberga un clásico pub-restaurante y habitaciones. La nuestra era muy amplía, cómoda y con todos los servicios. Nos encantó relajarnos enfrente de la chimenea y luego cenar. Está situado en un pueblo muy tranquilo y eso hizo que el descanso nocturno fuera impecable. Me encantaría volver alguna vez.

An enjoyable stay, close to Oxford, but unlikely to return.
Pros:

A charming country pub, restored to a high standard. Room, whilst compact, was functional and clean with a large bathroom and walk in shower.

Cons:

Food was ok, but the preparation, presentation and taste were all lacking for most of the meals (breakfasts and one evening meal). Issue with a discount voucher sent to me at the time of staying, proved problematic when attempting to utilise at the time of clearing the bill for a two nights stay, which tainted the experience - the wording on such vouchers should be much more precise as to how they can be redeemed.

Lovely old pub, very comfortable and lovely staff
Pros:

Breakfast was Ok, bread was not particularly good and tasted a bit stale. Dinner was very tasty, as were the drinks. Room was great and very comfortable.

Cons:

Housekeeping need to look higher than eye level to get rid of the cobwebs and dead creatures in the rooms. Hate the little tubes of milk, tends to go wherever it feels like but not in the mug.!!!

People were very nice, we felt sorry for them as they’ve been working so hard and you can tell they are extremely understaffed.

Cons:

I would not rate this place 5 stars, not even close. The waiting time for food in the evening and for breakfast in the morning was unacceptable and the restaurant wasn’t even full. The food was okay, coffee was terrible. There were no towels in the room, and I had to ask for them. The wine was served in a dirty glass. This is absolutely not the fault of the lovely girls working there; they just had no time to check everything properly. There was one girl in the morning to do everything - from taking orders, serving breakfast, making coffee to doing check outs. As a guest you are coming for breakfast and all the tables are full of dirty dishes cause there is no one to clean them up. Table we had for dinner was so dirty that it was sticky. If you want to pay for 5 star hotel experience is not the place.

Habitación con muy linda decoración.
Desayuno muy bueno, jugos naturales.
Buena calidad de sábanas, excelente calidad de productos de tocador.

Cons:

2 arañas muy grandes que encontramos, una en la habitación y otra en el baño.

Really enjoyed our stay but could have been excellent more staff with more staff were employed.
Pros:

Location, character of the building and cleanliness. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and pillows. The toiletries were good quality. The staff were friendly, helpful and extremely hard working

Cons:

We had to wait longer than normal for food service. It was not the fault of the 2 staff as they worked very hard but there were not enough of them to serve a restaurant full of people and others drinking in the bar.
