Location, atmosphere, smell, and look.
Only bar wouldn’t let me order a drink and I was waiting due to me wearing a hat.
Great location and the staff was very friendly, the valet especially. We had a slight issue with the shower flooding the bathroom floor and the staff handled the situation promptly and effectively by moving us to another room. The rooms were very comfortable and large, which I appreciated! My only complaint is that I had a couple of special requests ahead of my stay as it was my son’s 20th birthday. As per the suggestions of reservations, I emailed my requests to: sjreservations@valenciagroup.com, I sent two emails that unfortunately were never were responded to.
Location. Everything.
Balcony doors need repair.
Location was perfect and the vallet/doorman were prompt and polite, but it was downhill from there, at least for us. Our room wasn't ready upon check-in even though it was after check-in time. Not a big deal, but when we did get our keys, we found dirty dishes directly in front of our door and a clogged bathroom sink waiting for us as well. Kinda gross. Took a lot away from out initial impressions. We reported this to the front desk worker, who was apologetic and offered a complimentary room service snack. He said he would speak to the manager about it, but she didn't seem too concerned. It also took longer than expected to receive deliveries from the hotel service staff (food, towels, etc). One request, for a room service table to eat our food on went totally ignored, but by then, we had grown so exhausted we just let it be and ate standing over the room desk. Disappointing as I really wanted to like this place. Maybe my expectations were too high.
What a gem 💎 of a hotel in the middle of an amazing mixed use redeveloped area called Santana Row in San Jose. High end shopping, many restaurants, tree lined streets etc. I can’t wait to go back so I can explore more! Room was fabulous and there is also a great bar. We arrived too late for the restaurant but I look forward to dining here. I believe there is also a roof top lounge.
We really enjoyed our meals at the hotel. We had breakfast, Sunday brunch, lunch and dinner during our 13-night stay. The food was excellent; therefore compliment to the Chef. Our server (a young woman) was great, attentive and patient in explaining to us about the various dishes.
We were disappointed with the Guest Services or Front Desk. We asked the Guest Services personnel three times to unlock the refrigerator for us, and for whatever reasons that was never done during our 13-night stay.
Further, in order to avoid the morning traffic from San Jose to SFO on Highway 101 on a weekday (since we were leaving the US on an international flight at 11 a.m.), we wanted to change our 14-night stay to 13-night stay at Hotel Valencia. While Booking.com personnel was helpful, Hotel Valencia Guest Services personnel was not. I talked to the hotel personnel (this was the first time) and was told to contact Booking.com. After Booking.com informed me the changes were fine and that an email had been sent to the hotel, I talked to the hotel personnel again (this was the second time) and was told that they had received nothing. I reached out to Booking.com and was assured that the change was fine and another email was sent to the hotel. I talked to the hotel personnel again (this was the third time) and was told they had received nothing. The third and last time I reached out to Booking.com, Booking.com personnel told me the change had been and confirmed, the refund was already processed, and that I didn't have to worry about talking to the hotel personnel. The process of requesting a simple change, having to go back and forth 6 times between the hotel and Booking.com, was a very frustrating and unpleasant experience.
The Sangria drink upon arrival. The cleanliness. Breakfast prices were reasonable. Located in beautiful Santana Row. Gorgeous bar.
Nothing I can think of.
This beautiful hotel is always impeccably kept , smells divine and a pleasure to arrive at...every time!
The bar/restaurant and the street outside (Santana row) can get loud.
Great location on Santana Row. Beautiful hotel with an awesome vibe. Room was comfortable with a nice balcony overlooking the city and mountains beyond. Would definitely recommend if in the area.
Felt very upscale. The bed was comfortable.
This is a beautiful property and the location is perfect! The bell and valet staff were wonderful and kind and helpful.
#1 NO hot water in the shower in the morning!!!! Inexcusable and unacceptable.
#2 I had reserved two rooms and I had to wait 2 hours past check in time for my second room to be ready, but…..
#3 When I finally walked down to the front desk, after the two hour wait, to demand my second room, there was a different front desk woman who overheard what was going on and was able to instantly find me a clean room right across from my first room.
#4 The front desk staff at check in seemed like they had no idea what they were doing and didn’t seem to care either. I had to ask how to get to the elevators to get to my room and all I was given was a key… no map, no verbal information on the hotel layout or amenities, not even how to access the hotel Wi-Fi.
The hotel is in a great location with plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area. For the price, however the service was subpar. Room service took over an hour each time. Had to call every time asking what was going on. The lobby bar is popular with stereotypical Silicon Valley crowds and the bouncers and bartenders have a pretty big Vegas or LA complex. Totally disregard the fact anyone is already paying a ton to stay in the hotel.
Large well designed and clean rooms. Beautiful courtyard and bar areas. Nicely situated lobby on upper floor, creating a very uncrowded and exclusive feel
