This hotel is one of the best value-for-money properties among Hilton hotels in Shanghai. It always offers members exceptionally generous and attractive suite upgrade opportunities. The front desk service is also highly commendable for its courtesy and efficiency, and the ladies there are warm, kind, and truly deserving of special praise.
I would not recommend this hotel, as the property feels quite old and in need of renovation. While the location may be suitable for business travelers or those attending meetings or conferences, it is not ideal for leisure or sightseeing purposes.
The breakfast area is very small and overcrowded, with long queues during peak hours, which made the experience uncomfortable.
Service was acceptable but lacked warmth — the staff appeared very busy and there was little interaction or friendliness, with hardly any smiles. Overall, this hotel may work for work-related stays, but it does not offer a pleasant experience for travelers.
I was on a three week business trip, and of all the hotels I stayed at this was by far the worst service. They treat people who are brown like dirt, as a hilton honors gold member I have never experienced such service. Concierge doesn’t come up to get your luggage , doesn’t help you weight it , apart from location there is nothing good about this hotel I will never stay here nor recommend anyone to stay here, overpriced for a crappy service.
Checked in for 2 nights at DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai Pudong. As Hilton Honors Gold got upgraded to Executive room. Lucky me !
Hotel is right next to Lancun Road metro station so very convenient.
Loved the warm cookies at check in. So nice maybe because I was hungry lol. The room view is everything facing the three siblings Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center.
Breakfast is great with more vegetarian options for my halal food. There is a good halal noodles restaurant across the road. Yummy.
The staff in Doubletree Hilton Shanghai Pudong is attentive and well trained, making the stay even more pleasant.
Solid choice for Pudong stays.
Had a good couple of nights stay here with great views from the upper floors.
Room was comfy and had everything you needed but to be honest ours could have done with some attention to detail as bits on the carpet that hadn’t be vacuumed up properly and some bathroom grouting that needed scrubbing / descaling.
Breakfast was pleasant with a good selection of hot and cold food. Would stay again if in the area.
The Doubletree by Hilton Pudong was such a nice hotel. We were only there for two nights but loved the service, the amenities, and the location. The room had an amazing view of the city. It was very spacious and clean. Definitely recommend the breakfast buffet as it is very convenient, reasonably prices and has lots of variety of foods.
The hotel has a very dated feel to it.
I was really looking forward to enjoying the pool after a morning of meetings but felt incredibly uncomfortable going there with 3 male lifeguards who insisted I wore a swimming cap. I went for 10mins in the end and never went back. Probably would have been ok if there was some music or something.
My room had a kitchen but there was only a cup and glass to use with the kettle and fridge. No cutlery, no spoons so it was completely pointless to have.
The room was spacious and a good space to work from.
The cleaner came really early each day so I had to remember to turn the bell off and hang the 'Do not disturb' banner on.
I liked the morning Shirley Temple dispenser
My 1-night stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai Pudong (Sept 27-28) was absolute perfection—this hotel truly knows how to make guests feel special!
First, the Front Desk team deserves a huge shoutout, especially Sakura Li. From check-in, she greeted me with a warm smile, walked me through all the hotel perks, and even gave tips to make the most of my view room. When I asked about nearby spots to explore later, she didn’t just answer—she printed a little map with recommendations. Her attentiveness turned a simple stay into something memorable.
The view room itself was a highlight! The panoramic view was stunning, and I loved sipping coffee by the window in the morning. Plus, the breakfast buffet blew me away—so many fresh options, from classic Chinese dishes to Western favorites, all delicious and well-prepared.
Every corner of the hotel felt clean and well-maintained, and every staff member I met (from restaurant servers to housekeepers) was friendly and helpful. This isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a hotel that cares about every little detail. I’ll definitely be back and have already told friends to book here next time they’re in Shanghai!
Stayed two nights , lovely large reception area with plenty of seating near bar. The rooms were bit small but fine, nice bright clean rooms with good size bathroom, shower enclosure and bathtub. There weren’t many amenities in bathroom like toothbrush or shaving kit. The breakfast had all the normal foods. Nice place to stay for few days in Shanghai.
Good
Highlights
- it’s very convenient to take the or Maglev train combined with Uber from international Pudong Airport to the hotel
- it’s even more convenient to explore the main sites in the city without much additional effort
- the biggest plus is to order anything online prior to check in without any problems the parcels will be delivered to the concierge with your room confirmation number even without knowing the exact room number
- The executive one bedroom suite in the West Wing has an extraordinary review of the skylines and surrounding areas in Shanghai
Improvement potentials
- The breakfast area is too small starting from 8:30. It’s overfilled and all the guests had to wait at the entrance until a table is available. It’s also a big chaos in the restaurant because too many people are having breakfast at the same time. The weekend days are even worse.
- Some of the service teams in different areas were playing with their mobile phones all the time. I don’t think it’s a good sign to be seen from the guests
My family and I always stay at this DoubleTree when we visit Shanghai. As usual, our stay was great with no disappointments! Front desk is friendly and very helpful for any questions about the city, rooms are large and clean, and the location is convenient.
Front desk is very professional and friendly. Immediately felt comfortable and welcomed when checking in. Will definitely be coming back for future stays
The front desk was exceptionally friendly. Yuki Yuan was particularly professional and helpful. My family and I enjoyed our stay very much.
This hotel was outstanding! Above excellent! The location, quality of staff and the cleanliness and modernity of the hotel building was outstanding! I would stay here again without hesitation.
The lobby looks great, the room was nice but not as big as I thought and also not much view, didn't like the photo on the page,
Staff are helpful, overall experience was good
excellent
I recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Shanghai - Pudong and had an overall pleasant experience. The hotel is conveniently located close to a metro station, which made it quite easy to reach all the main attractions in Shanghai. The hotel itself is beautiful, although the room we received had rather old-fashioned furniture. However, this was more than made up for by the stunning view from the bathtub next to the window in the bathroom on the 31st floor – truly a memorable experience! Breakfast at the hotel was delicious and offered a wide variety of options. On our last day, we had to check out very early at 5 am and requested a breakfast box. Unfortunately, the quality of the breakfast box was quite poor compared to the regular breakfast. One highlight of our stay was the hotel concierge, who was helpful and friendly. They assisted a friend of ours in sending a package from Shanghai to Beijing, which we greatly appreciated.
The lobby is new but the rooms aren’t. The carpet looks like casino carpet ! The rooms are not refurbished. Staff are untrained and impolite , they care more about Chinese customer comparing to foreigner , the breakfast buffet isn’t impressive , lettuce were old and options were limited
I’m a Hilton Gold Member and always prefer staying with Hilton properties — and as expected, the DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai Pudong did not disappoint.
From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We were allowed to check in early around 10am, which was a great start to our 6-night stay.
The room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was excellent every morning — a wide variety of options and great quality.
We needed to change our room from the West Wing to the East Wing due to accessibility needs, and Heidi Huang from Reception was absolutely fantastic. She immediately helped us change rooms and even showed us the new room in advance to ensure it met our requirements. Her professionalism and kindness truly stood out.
A special shoutout also to Jimmy Zhang from Concierge — he spoke great English and was extremely helpful in recommending local restaurants and must-see attractions. His local knowledge made a big difference in enhancing our trip.
All in all, we enjoyed every minute of our stay here. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Shanghai!
