Everything! Staff was friendly, good location, complete breakfast, and room comfy and clean.
Die Unterkunft war sehr schön und sauber
The Kioro was in a really beautiful location near La Fortuna, very close to the volcano. The grounds were gorgeous and well maintained, and the hot springs were clean and beautiful. While the room was a little dated, it was huge, with high ceilings. While the hot tub in the room was a nice touch, you don't really need it with the hot springs on the property, and it was kind of loud during the night. Everyone at the hotel was really friendly and helpful. I would recommend the hotel for the location alone and the grounds made you not want to leave to go down the road to busy La Fortuna.
Superbe hôtel dans un environnement enchanteur ! Nous avons passé un magnifique séjour avec vue sur le volcan et profité des sources chaudes au milieu de la végétation luxuriante.
Gorgeous grounds, comfortable beds, very close to the Arenal volcano; wonderful staff. Special thanks to Melvin, Cristian, Nelson, Davi, Jeffrey and all the staff who have contributed to a wonderful stay! Obrigada!! 🇧🇷 Pura vida! 🇨🇷

We enjoyed a three-night stay at Arenal Kioro and had a very pleasant experience.
The grounds were beautifully maintained and created a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere with the surrounding natural beauty adding to the overall experience. The staff were one of the highlights of our stay. Everyone was friendly, personable, and welcoming. I especially appreciated that staff members remembered me and addressed me by name whenever we crossed paths, which made the experience feel more personalized and warm.
The room was comfortable and matched the photos shown online. The layout was different from what I was used to, but it was exactly as represented, so there were no surprises. The bed was decent and provided a comfortable place to rest after exploring the area.
The breakfast was decent, with enough options to start the day. Also loved having Tito’s hot springs available as an amenity at the hotel.
Overall, Arenal Kioro provided a relaxing stay with beautiful surroundings, excellent hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere. The genuine friendliness of the staff truly stood out and made our three-night stay enjoyable.
Everything was great, definitely recommend.
We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Kioro. The location is very convenient to the many activities around Arenal, rooms very comfortable, service fantastic, thermal pools perfect, stunning views and food was way better than typical resort food. We had a truly memorable stay. My kids loved the grounds and the pool area. We arranged for multiple activities through the resort (zip lining, hanging bridges, ATV tour) and all were great. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful resort in Fortuna.
We had a fantastic stay at Arenal Kioro with our family of four! It is absolutely 5 star accommodations from the food to the attentiveness of the staff. We would definitely stay there again!
Excellent location. Hugely overpriced, hotel in need of urgent renovation and maintenance. Old facilities and furniture. Hotel rates of an exclusive, top of the range hotel. Thermal springs beautiful but overcrowded, full of US holidaymakers leaving their plastic cups behind. Friendly staff. Breakfast quality average. My sincere advice is choose a different hotel. Really disappointed with the choice .
Our stay at Arenal Kioro was one of the highlights of our Costa Rica vacation! The setting is absolutely breathtaking, with incredible views of Arenal Volcano right from our room. Waking up each morning to that view felt unreal.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and we loved having our own in-room jacuzzi. The natural hot springs on the property were peaceful and relaxing after long days of exploring waterfalls, hanging bridges, and the rainforest.
The staff was warm, welcoming, and always happy to help. Breakfast had a great variety of fresh options each morning, and the food throughout our stay was excellent.
What we appreciated most was that the resort felt surrounded by nature. We saw beautiful birds and wildlife around the property, and it had a quiet, authentic Costa Rican feel while still offering all the comforts of a luxury resort.
If you’re visiting the La Fortuna/Arenal area, I highly recommend staying at Arenal Kioro. It’s the perfect place to relax while still being close to all the area’s adventures. We would absolutely stay here again!
As many other reviews have said before, the whole hotel is very dark and dated and in need of updating.
We were constantly needing to get our phone torches out to find things in our room because the lighting is so bad. The reception area is dark and uninviting. We never saw anyone in the lobby bar and it just isn’t a hotel that invites you to relax in the surroundings.
The pool area is quite nice and the pool bar is the only area that feels modern and bright and therefore more inviting. The food and service there is also very good.
You’d think the hot tub in the room would be a real highlight but it just wasn’t inviting at all. It’s in a dark corner of the room with a slightly murky window next to it. We never used it.
The curtains were hanging from the track in places and some of the upholstery in our room had stains on - the whole room needed updating. There is no extractor fan in the bathroom and the toilet paper bin has no lid on it which is pretty gross.
We never saw anyone maintaining the grounds and that is quite evident as there are lots of leaves and branches obstructing the winding pathways that lead to the rooms. This made for a tricky journey at night as the lighting is pretty non existent.
On the plus side, we had room service one night, just burgers and falafel but it was really good. The view of the volcano is amazing and The hot springs are also nice but I guess most of the hotels in the area have this too.
We saw howler monkeys and some beautiful birds on the grounds.
The rooms and grounds are very clean and never felt busy.
Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again but I’m also not sure if the nearby hotels are much better.
It certainly isn’t 5 star - not sure how they reached that rating - maybe in the 1970s!
