Cosy hotel with excellent location
Pros:

Perfect location in central but quiet area. Extremely helpful staff. The breakfast is a la carte so it's prepared fresh for you (which can take some time but if you need to leave early, the breakfast can be packed for you as a takeaway in advance). The room was nice and cosy, beautifully furnished, with a balcony. There is a small gym with 24 hour access.

Cons:

Everything was perfect.

Pros:

Our room was very spacious and we loved the design. We even had a rather large balcony and could sit outside as well.
Breakfast was also great! Everything was made fresh to order instead of a buffet breakfast, including bowls, pancakes, eggs, ... and with different juice, cake and jam every day. On the last day we needed to leave early before the breakfast service started; instead of breakfast we received a picknick bag with fruits, rolls, nuts, etc.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the breakfast for the hotel guests did not include the scrambled tofu and we had to pay extra for that.

“I had a fantastic stay in caju- from the healthy breakfast and the feel of being safe and looked after to the effort of going over and beyond celebrating my friends birthday with a candle at breakfast and special letter and chocolates in the room. These surprises made our stay truly special.”

Sehr gut gelegende Unterkunft in der Altstadt. Architektonisch schön modernisierter Altbau

Sehr gutes und ausreichendes Frühstück. Zimmer im 3 & 4. Stock mit Blick über die Dächer der Stadt

Cons:

Zimmer wirkt auf den Bildern grösser als es ist. Übler Geruch im Untergeschoss wo sich der Wasserspender befindet. Wohl ein Problem mit der Lüftung der Toilette im UG

This is a stylish small place for a comfy sleep in a good location.
Pros:

This is a stylish hotel in a great location with an adjoining cafe with tasty healthy food options. I had to leave for an early flight and they provided me with a takeaway breakfast which I appreciated. The bed was very comfy with good sheets and little noise so I slept well.

Cons:

I couldn't change the TV subtitles to English. I always watch TV with the volume low in a hotel because I am a very considerate traveller.

we’re definitely stay again great price
Pros:

excellent location close to everything in FUNCHAL. Staff was lovely.
The deadbolt on my door wasn’t working, which coming from the US and a city dweller was a bit unnerving at first, but I was assured nothing to worry about. Make sure if you get the breakfast included that you remind the waiter waitress that your breakfast is included so they give you a different menu.
I loved the location. The room was comfortable plenty of room.

Cons:

comfortable, great location not much of a view but right in the city so vocation was more important than view

Really enjoyed my 5 night stay at Hotel Caju, the hotel is right in the centre of everything which was very handy!
Will definitely recommend to anyone coming to Funchal for the first time.

Cons:

There's no bar and the restaurant is only open till 4pm.
