A hotel that knows how to do it right.
Pros:

My husband and I just had the most wonderful stay at the RAPHAEL in KC. First, I’d like to offer a huge shout out to Tracee, who went above and beyond to insure we enjoyed our stay. I’d asked her the day before if she might be able to upgrade our room to a PLAZA view (so we could enjoy the beautiful PLAZA Christmas lights). Tracee upgraded us to a luxurious Premier Suite, complete with a complimentary breakfasts and a bottle of wine. It was truly amazing!

The RAPHAEL is such a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. Their CHAZ lounge and restaurant are also exceptional. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the AM, and drinks listening to smooth Jazz in the evening. What could be better?

I would most definitely recommend the RAPHAEL!

For $900 for a 2 night stay. I expected much more. I will never stay there again
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Room view. No pool. Not at all what I expected for my money. Even the floor in our room was slanted and in the bathroom, I kid you not, was the type of toilet you find in a school locker room! Room view out of all windows was either the parking garage or a great view of a large a/c unit or some sort of generator. Opened up the sleeper sofa and was greeted by a spider.

The Raphael Hotel is Superb
Pros:

My wife and I were in Kansas City for three nights and could not have been more pleased with our decision to stay at The Raphael. This hotel is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, of which I am a big fan. All Autograph Collection hotels are unique and held to very high standards, and The Raphael is certainly no exception.

The building housing The Raphael was built in 1928 and was originally an apartment building before being beautifully restored as a top-tier hotel. Our “Deluxe Guest Room” featured a very large sitting area with windows overlooking the Country Club Plaza shopping and restaurant district.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant and bar, Chaz, is as unique as the hotel itself. I am always impressed when locals drive in specifically to dine at a hotel restaurant. If you’re heading to Kansas City, The Raphael is highly recommended.

Treated like Royalty
Pros:

19227 For a couple of decades my wife and I have stayed next door at the Intercontinental for our anniversary celebrations. Last year was our 50th and I wanted it to be perfect. Called 3 times to be sure flowers , a fruit tray and wine were in the suite for our arrival. When We arrived I got in the long line not dreaming of any issues, especially due to my Diamond Ambassador status. When we arrived the lobby was full and it took perhaps 10 minutes to get to my turn at the desk. I introduced myself, giving the Lady my card and DL. She looked at me and said" You go sit down until I decide to talk to you". Honest to God. Well we spent 90 minutes in the lobby then got a terrible suite with none of the stuff in it. Needless to say our 50th was completely ruined and I swore to never stay there again, cancelling my membership. Now bring us to the 28th of Dec 2025. We had seen the Raphael for the decades next door so I made reservations for a nice Plaza View suite. I got emails from The Staff at the hotel 2 days before confirming my requests. We valet parked, checked in and from the very beginning of our stay we were treated like royalty. Everyone in the building seemed to know us and that is was our anniversary. The room was stunning, flower petals on the bed and as a corner room we had a complete view of all of the lights. Our stay was wonderful and I would gladly recommend this property to everyone.

Raphael and Chaz don't disappoint!
Pros:

We've been staying at the Raphael off and on for years, and it's safe to say, the service and hotel are holding up well. It's always solid and reliable. This month's stay was no exception with a special highlight for the folks in Chaz.

When we arrived, the drive, valet and lobby were slammed, but all the available team members jumped in to keep the flow of guests moving and acknowledged. Everyone was super friendly and worked efficiently through the waiting guests. Our connecting suite was spacious and clean, perfect for our family. Love these showers!

Dinner and snacks in Chaz were really great and the service was friendly and efficient. There are many places to eat on The Plaza, but don't skip out on Chaz!

Old school but great staff.
Pros:

The staff here are great- from the front door people to reception--it snowed quite a bit today and the staff was out there shoveling and salting the street, and doing what they could in the garage. Its an excellent team.

the hotel itself is a little odd--my room was very big (a suite) and perfectly comfortable (especially the incredible bed), but its as if someone froze the whole place in 1995. Very old fashioned decor, an old toilet and tub. Even the physical building is red brick from another era.

All fine, but caught between classic and modern. Still, easy parking and pretty area of the city, and i slept well.

Outstanding upscale hotel on the plaza
Pros:

This is my go-to to upscale hotel in Kansas City. Fantastic unique autograph collection property, charm, well appointed rooms, and the restaurant/lounge like no other. I particularly enjoy the food at the lounge at the live quiet music in the evenings. The staff is always friendly.
