An obvious first choice
Pros:

I stayed here twice this month at the start and finish of a three-week trip. I was most warmly received on my return and was given Room 27, I think a superior room, with a four-poster bed, and a separate small dressing room, with wardrobe, storage space and a fridge. There were views of nearby Santa Maria Novella and the Duomo. The bathroom had been modernised but had a bath with overhead shower rather than a walk-in.
All staff were most efficient, friendly and helpful. A good buffet breakfast was included. The hotel is centrally located, with most sights and galleries within comfortable walking distance.

Cons:

Being fussy, I would have preferred a walk-in shower but it wasn’t an issue for a two-night stay.

I would stay at Palazzo dal Borgo again, and I would recommend it to my friends who love Florence!
Pros:

Charming hotel that was formerly the villa of a relative of the Medici family. The rooms were grand and spacious. The staff were super professional, friendly, and helpful. A wonderful breakfast brunch was included in the price of the room. Plus it was conveniently located to almost everything you could want to see in Florence.

Cons:

Because we travelled to Florence during the Christmas holidays, we found the room a little cooler than we would have liked. We needed to run the slimline HVAC system everyday we were there to maintain an acceptable temperature. But the HVAC unit in our room wasn't that quiet we we went to bed at night.
