Excellent location! An easy walk to restaurants and shops. The Metro was less than a 10-minute walk away. Check-in was prompt and friendly. The property, including our guest room, was meticulously maintained.
After a less-than-great experience previously, I want to recognize Yabi for doing an excellent job. He was professional, courteous, and efficient, and completely turned things around. Service like this deserves to be acknowledged.

I've stayed here on multiple occasions and always have wonderful time. The rooms are clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed — comfortable without feeling sterile. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and I especially want to thank Ryan, Darius, Efren, Dana, and Christine for making my last stay smooth and enjoyable. I’ll absolutely be staying here again and would highly recommend the Thompson to anyone visiting DC.
The room was clean and quiet but otherwise lacking.
I emailed the morning of the day before my arrival to request hypoallergenic bedding. I hadn’t heard back so on the day of my arrival I called, but was placed on hold for 40 minutes before they hung up on me. I sent a follow up email in hopes someone would see it. When I arrived late in the evening,my room was obviously not defeathered. I went to the restaurant and requested that housekeeping address the bedding while I was out of the room. When I arrived back in the room, it had not been handled. Luckily, there was one foam pillow and the duvet insert was also poly fill.
The bathroom door (pocket) was almost impossible to close and didn’t close all the way. The room was bare and didn’t have a desk or guest chair. The lighting was barely existent- 2 dim sconces at the bedside on pull-chains and 2 reading spot lights.
No top sheet and the bottom sheet was a flat one, oversized and slipped around on the mattress protector. The mattress was super firm, and usually that is my preference, but this one had zero give and my sleep quality suffered.
This one missed the mark for a higher-end hotel. I’ve stayed in many more similarly priced hotels in DC so I won’t be returning to the Thompson.
Absolutely beautiful hotel with equally amazing staff & service. Stayed here for a business trip, but I will definitely be returning for personal travels.
Hotel accommodations were great. Everything was clean and well kept. Staff was very pleasant. A special shout out to Dillon (concierge) who worked the front door. He was kind, uplifting, happy and eager to help.
Artwork in the room was odd. Also not a fan of the $30 destination fee, but everything else was great.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to John James, Food & Beverage Manager, for the outstanding hospitality we received during our stay. On 11/28, our food took longer than expected, and John went above and beyond to make it right by comping our entire food and beverage, offering us complimentary breakfast at the rooftop bar the next morning, and even giving us a $50 gift card voucher. A huge shoutout as well to the bartender at the rooftop bar that night on 11/28 who advocated for us and made sure we were being taken care of. Her attention to detail and effort to prioritize guests did not go unnoticed!
Anytime, John saw us throughout our stay, he made sure to check in, ask if we were okay, and offer such a warm, sincere apology for the experience we had. But honestly, we had nothing to complain about because the respect, care, and amazing treatment he gave us exceeded anything we could have expected.
I also want to recognize Ms. Blue, the Food & Beverage Supervisor at the Surveyor, who was absolutely incredible. Even though the restaurant was short-staffed on 11/29, she was everywhere — bussing tables, helping her team, keeping the place moving, and still providing excellent customer service with so much grace. I wish I could’ve tipped more because she genuinely deserved it! In addition, we want to recognize our server on 11/29 during breakfast at the Surveyor. Although they were short-staffed, she was incredibly apologetic about the wait and even offered us handcrafted beverages on her own tab as a sincere gesture — even though none of it was her fault. She just genuinely wanted us to know they were doing their absolute best with the team they had.
On 11/29 at the lobby bar, our server during lunch also delivered amazing service. My steak took longer to come out, and without hesitation, he offered complimentary prosecco and apologized sincerely. The whole team was attentive and committed to making sure our experience stayed exceptional.
From the servers, receptionists, managers, supervisors, and crew, everyone at Thompson DC showed top-tier hospitality. You can tell they truly care and are doing their absolute best to give guests an exemplary stay.
I’ve never stayed anywhere that prioritizes hospitality and guest care the way Thompson DC does, especially when things don’t go as smoothly. We are genuinely in awe of how they treat their guests and how committed they are to providing an exemplary experience every single time. I’ll definitely be coming back. Keep doing what you’re doing — the heart and dedication of your team make all the difference.

The rooms were spotless, the location was excellent, and the music in the lobby created such a great atmosphere. The whole place just felt warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated.
Upscale boutique hotel with nice ambiance and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms with all amenities. Would definitely recommend as a great place to stay and tour Washington!
The Thompson is a great hotel in DC. The facilities are fantastic but what makes the hotel my go to when I am in town is the people . Everyone is kind, welcoming and exemplifies what service is all about . One particular individual always brightens my day . Dylan works the valet stand and is enjoyable to interact with . He brings a smile and a warm welcome to each day. I am thankful for him and many others at the Thompson
Second time I've stayed at The Thompson DC Navy Yards and I'll definitely be back. The hotel is convenient to DCA - quick Uber ride but you can also take the Metro - and has a lot of restaurants within easy walking distance. The actual hotel is super clean, and the rooms are very nicely decorated with super comfy beds and pillows. There is a very nice bar in the lobby - very lively on the weekend - and a rooftop bar with nice views. Wonderful stay and will be back the next time I visit the DMV.

My sister book me and her a room for the night and we had the best experience ever ! Not only did I walk into a beautiful hotel room that was decorated just for me ! The bathroom was so clean and the robes they give you make it even more special! My room was on the 10th floor so I didn’t hear a word of noise
