The location was incredible. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you! The food was also incredible and reasonably priced. The room was clean and had an amazing view.
The WiFi wasn’t great, we couldn’t get anything to connect but we just used our own internet on our phones so it wasn’t a big deal. There were some quite loud guests on our floor which woke us up during the night but that is not at all the fault of the hotel, just a few people enjoying some drinks on a sunny day!
Thick with Dust!!
No change offered when paying Accommodation!
I had an EXCEPTIONAL experience at the Avoca Hotel! I had originally scheduled 4 nights at a local B and B. When I arrived at the B and B, I was informed that it was no longer in business. Within a half hour, my tour guide located the Avoca and they had offered me a room for the four nights, plus breakfasts and 2 additional meals. I went from a really scary experience (in a different country with no housing) to feeling like family! My room was gorgeous - all stone and brick - and cozy and clean. I slept very well in the comfortable bed. The private bathroom was modern and efficient.
The staff of the Avoca went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Alycia, Clare, and Sarah on reception, Francis and Ihjaz in the bar and restaurant, and servers Sinead and Shawneen were outstanding in every way. My room was clean and made up every day by housekeeping, including Julie.
I will definitely be back to Newcastle, and when I do return, I will be visiting the Avoca Hotel. I offer my highest recommendation!
Location is great, room was very cosy smaller than the pics. The staff were fantastic and the room
Especially the bathroom was gleaming
The room was boiling we tried to turn the temp down but it kept going up and up and was 25 overnight
The pillows were so so thin
The hotel and staff were great. Great food and drinks area.
The room got a little hot which was hard to regulate
The best staff and food ever the room was great 👍
The hotel is in a great location on the promenade with fabulous views. Our room was lovely with quirky decoration and fixtures.nice to see lots of character. We had a room with sea view and enjoyed watching the tide come in and out and the dog walkers on the beach. Room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a bit basic it really could do with a shelf near the wash basin for toothbrushes and cosmetics as the only other ledge in the bathroom was behind the toilet and id not like to put toothbrushes there!, a towel rail and somewhere to put clothes while showering would be good too, there was only a small hook on the back of the door and no where to dry towels.
We had an evening meal which was Ok ish the curry was tasty but came in a large soup bowl and the consistency was more like soup having to fish for the bits of chicken at the bottom of the bowl and stopping the rice from submerging. We felt a bit uncomfortable in bar/ restaurant as the two males were stood at the other end of the bar just watching us the whole time and didn't engage in conversation with us at all, as visitor to the area asking how our day had been and sharing local knowledge would have helped even though it was quiet one of our orders was wrong. In contrast the two ladies on duty the next morning were delightful they chatted about the area made us feel welcome and had a smile on their faces.
The breakfast again was ok the continental part of the breakfast was basic no fruit juice on offer and cereals , pastries , toast and preserves limited choice and displayed in a dark area near the kitchen. the cooked breakfast was nice.
I wouldnt stayhere again and i probably wouldnt recommend the hotel apart form its location and quirky decor and at £200 a night for two people it is was overpriced .
Very welcoming staff. Room was beautifully decorated
Amazing cocktails
Cosy Hotel, well maintained and roomy bedrooms. Great food and breakfast.
Great location.
Friendly staff.
Room was
Limited street parking. Parking area 3 minutes walk away which is not great with baggage and bad weather as it was the case this weekend.
