There are at least four Quest Hotel locations in Wellington CBD. They are all quite different from one another. This is about the one located at 33 Hunter.
The location is ideal for tourists. Halfway between TePapa Museum which is on the waterfront and the Parliament building, it is within a block of the Red Cable Car which takes one up to the Botanic Garden and the free shuttle to Zealandia. It is about a block from the Airport Express Bus Stop. There is no need to hire a car. Driving around the CBD is much more cumbersome than walking.
33 Hunter is an old building. It has beautiful wood paneled elevators, interesting lighting fixtures and intricate moulding in both the common areas and the units. The common area is generally well maintained, although could use a deep clean. The lobby did not smell fresh and there was dirt along the floors edges and corners of the elevators.
Our unit was a one bedroom, had a kitchenette, washer & dryer, a large TV and comfortable bed. The remainder of the furnishings were hodge podge and worn, but sufficient. The unit was clean except for some mold between tiles in the shower. It was in good repair except for a couple cracked tiles in the shower. The lighting was lacking. There were no good lights by which to read or work. Rather, most lights were in the high ceiling. Considering it is in the midst of the CBD. It was relatively quiet.
We stayed for a couple nights. It was certainly adequate, but nothing exceptional.
All ok , bring earplugs for a non distrusted sleep eg scafolding outside my room all night haha didn’t worry me cause I had earrrrrplugs lol ta
Staff are very nice, short walk to everything. It’s like staying in a hotel and you can cook.
We paid over $700 for two nights expecting decent, comfortable accommodation. Instead, we got torn curtains, mould in the shower, a broken heater, and a drab, outdated room with mismatched furniture. Street noise was constant due to single-glazed windows. Staff were polite but didn’t acknowledge how unacceptable the room was for the price. Overall, very poor value — there are much better places to stay in Wellington. Would not recommend.
Old fit out . Dirty toilet. Very old scratched furniture. No soap holder in shower. Do not stay at this hotel. This was just bad
Tidy and clean but needs a revamp, rooms are tired and very basic. Chairs were falling apart, no doors on cabinets in bathroom. Horrible coffee selection and UHT milk. Great shower though. For the money charged we have stayed in much better condition Quest apartments. Bit sad unfortunately. Reception staff were amazing very helpful.
The locality was great for our needs.
The bed was v comfy and room was warm.
Good facilities in room just could have been better with two mor milk pottles!
The only negative is the extremely noisy plumbing while someone is showering.
It was my 2nd visit and I would
Choose it again
Excellent location for TSB Arena and other tourist attractions. There was good shopping within walking distance. The apartment was roomy and comfortable.
The front desk and room service staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.
The room, bathroom need updating.
Would suggest given the room size a bigger TV would be nice.
Bed needs replacement, very noisy
This is my 10 plus visit
I love Quest Wellington
Can’t wait for my next visit
Friendly and helpful
Staff were very friendly and helpful, recommending dining options nearby (Willis Lane was great). We had a slight issue with our internet connection, but this was very quickly rectified once we made the team aware of our problem. While parking is not onsite, it is a very easy walk to the TSB stadium. All in all would most certainly recommend The Quest and will definitely be back to stay.
The hotel that apartment concept that giving you options for laundry and dryer facilities in the room. The tiles at bathroom broken luckily not sharp to cause injuries. The lift movement up and down can be heard at night causing unpleasantness during sleep.
Friendly staff and historic building
Quest in Wellington on the corner of Hunter was an excellent choice... quiet, well presented and very good value for money. Amenities were very good for the price and comfort. Great experience.
First of all, the location is just perfect. It is in a beautiful old building and that means it is old inside as well - for the moderate price one cannot complain. The room was spacious and clean with a washing machine and dryer. I did not use the kitchen. The bed was comfortable and the heating was good and the window kept out the noise sufficiently.
Just minor things: the chairs are far too low for the table and the socket was half hidden behind a wardrobe.
Easy check in, central, good value for money
Accommodating
Broken tiles in bathroom. No radio/alarm clock. Ironing board damaged.
Great staff at front desk. Super helpful and accommodating.
