Pros:

The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of space to store bags and clothing. The location is excellent, in a safe neighbourhood with a lot of sites and shopping streets wihin walking distance.

Cons:

It would have been nice to have a coffee maker or a refridgerator

Disappointing stay
Pros:

For a special birthday stay in Lyon I had chosen the Simplon because of its good location to explore all of Lyon, its traditional appeal and its parking. The room was a good size and the bathroom was clean. The staff were all pleasant.

Cons:

We had two windows both fitted with one curtain each that did not fit across the window, they neither gave total privacy from the occupants across the street nor cut out the light from the street lights outside. (Apparently, all the bedrooms only have one drop of curtain for each window.) There are blinds, but these are old outside ones, which during our second night swung in the wind causing noise all night and broken sleep. We asked for assistance from the hotel to open the blinds, but apparently, there was no one to assist as the blinds are broken.
The bed, whilst clean, was obviously old, and squeaked at the slightest movement and had a huge dip in the middle.
We were given a free breakfast on our last morning as compensation, but I wished I had not fallen for the "traditional" feel of the photos and chosen another hotel.
The carpet to the first floor is threadbare.

La pieza era muy pequeña, no se podía tener una maleta a cada lado de la cama, hubo que dejar las dos en la entrada.
No tenía hervidor ni agua para huéspedes en la pieza.
