Pros:

Alloggiare al Hotel Castrocaro è un sogno divenuto realtà . Albergo con uno charme e qualità di altri tempi, ben adattato e ammodernato ai tempi attuali. Camera e bagni ampi, spazi comuni ovunque, la zona spa con acque termali ben attrezzata con anche sauna e bagno turco. La terrazza con le vasche d'idromassaggio. La Colazione variegata, squisita ed abbondante. La cortesia del personale.

Poor service that does not justify the price

The facilities were good and the location pleasant. That’s where the positives end.

Cons:

The experience was poor from the moment we arrived. We waited 30 minutes for someone to open the gate so we could park. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes. When I requested an invoice, staff issued it with the wrong address, and never corrected it. Breakfast was minimal and never replenished. There was no iron available, and when I asked about it, staff made me feel like I was asking for a special favour rather than a standard amenity

Pros:

Una tra le più belle strutture termali visitate negli anni,. Comfort, bellezza e qualità delle terme sono la prerogativa principale. Lo staff è sempre disponibilissimo, l'hotel è di una bellezza eccezionale, soprattutto nelle parti originali mantenute dall'epoca di costruzione. A tutto questo si aggiunge il valore delle magnifiche acque termali e la professionalità dello staff sia lato estetico che medico-ambulatoriale. In sintesi è sempre un privilegio poter usufruire del Grand Hotel Castrocaro!

At best a four-star hotel. Not a five-star hotel any more.
We have visited this hotel on several occasions over the years. Unfortunately, during that time, its standards have declined significantly—from what was once a five-star experience to something that now more closely resembles a three-star establishment.
The quality of service has deteriorated markedly and no longer comes close to five-star expectations.
Upon arrival, we were provided with only one bathrobe, despite the reservation being for three guests. After raising the issue, we received a second robe, albeit in the wrong size. Following a further request, the third robe was delivered only the next day—and again in an incorrect size.
At the bar, the bartender tends to overlook guests, appearing more occupied with inventory and administrative tasks than with customer service. The average waiting time simply to place an order exceeds thirty minutes—even when there are only one or two patrons present.
The rooftop bar and restaurant have been permanently closed, which is disappointing.
The breakfast selection is, frankly, inadequate for a hotel of this category. Even a below-average four-star hotel would typically offer a better choice.
During breakfast service, staff seem more focused on clearing tables than attending to guests. We waited nearly thirty minutes for the opportunity to place an order, despite making several attempts to attract a waiter’s attention.
In the jacuzzi area, which one would expect to be subject to strict hygiene standards, guests were permitted to bring a dog.
The hotel also appears unconcerned about guests openly smoking cannabis on the premises.
When concerns are raised, the response is invariably that the hotel is understaffed and that guests are welcome to escalate complaints to management. This reply feels rehearsed and is delivered automatically, without any genuine attempt to address the issue.
It is genuinely disappointing to see the direction in which this hotel is heading.
