Hôtel Villa d'Estrées - Saint-Germain

We were advised on check-in that the interconnecting rooms air-conditioning was not working, however a mobile device was insitu. Paris was experiencing very hot weather conditions and when I asked how effective was this mobile device at cooling the room, I was advised not as good as regular air-conditioning. I then asked were there any other air-conditioned rooms available and he advised yes at another hotel across the street. My family were offered a tiny, tiny room on level 1 and an even tinier room on level 5. The level 1 room had a bad odour and this might explain why the window was open. I felt the 800 euro, which I paid initially for the 2 large interconnecting air conditioned rooms for one night was not delivered. I asked management could we have a refund, as what I had booked, was not delivered. 20% was what the hotel offered. Very disappointed. I would also like to add that the foyer of the initial hotel was filthy.

Luftkonditioneringen var tillfällig lösning. Vi var tvungna att ha fönstret öppna för att slangen var i vägen. Så hörs allt från gatan nedanför.
Städningen var så där. Dammiga vattenkokare och kaffekokare!

The hotel has clearly recently changed hands and is undergoing renovations and so was not at all like the photos online. Rooms were clean and comfortable however decorated incredibly plain (not like the gorgeous interior shown online).

It was a bit of a building site still and there are details which, for the price, I would have expected to have been better. For example, the mugs do not even fit under the coffee machines in the bedrooms and there are no amenities in the bathrooms other than shower gel.

There is nowhere to hang out in the hotel (the lobby has a couple of chairs but no restaurant / bar). The breakfast area across the road is cramped for the number of guests there (you couldnt swing a cat!) and the breakfast was incredibly basic with the coffee machine not even working properly. I would have got the same if not better at a Premier Inn.

I find it astonishing that the hotel is charging these prices for these facilities and I would have given a lower rating would it not have been for the location. I find it dishonest that they are using old photos online and charging guests full whack before they have finished renovating the hotel.

The bedroom was perfect and very well decorated. The hotel was under renovation, except some dust the staff was very customer focused and extremely accomodating.
