Will definitely consider coming back to this hotel next time.
Pros:

A very nice hotel with a big compound and other 1-2 storey buildings probably meant for other events. Felt like i was living in a time when it was old Shanghai and this was one of the posh property within the French Concession Area.

Cons:

A bit further away from the Metro stations, closest would take 15mins walk. Fortunately I could use the public bicycles that saved a lot of time and energy, cutting the time to just 6 mins ride to the metro station.

Exceptional value for money hotel in beautiful grounds. Amazing buffet breakfast that changes daily.
Pros:

Breakfast was amazing. We stayed for six days and each day the breakfast offerings were different. And the choice at the buffet was as large as it was tasty.
The hotel grounds are beautiful with historic villas from the early 20th century. An oasis of green gardens and flowering magnolia trees in the middle of a bustling big city. Set in the charming quarter of the French concession, there are many bars, cafes, restaurants, shops all within walking distance.

Cons:

The staff were pleasant although the command of English could’ve been better.
The room was comfortable although the decor felt dated and somewhat florid with shiny metallic lampshades and lights that wouldn’t look out of place in a KTV / karaoke lounge. I shared the room with a friend and the bathroom didn’t afford much privacy with the sliding glass panels enclosing the toilet and bathtub. Would have been better if the glass panels were completely opaque. Also there were no hooks in the bathroom to hang the bathrobe and towels. We had to drape them over the bath tub.

Le petit déjeuner était de bonne qualité, le poisson et la viande étaient frais, ainsi que les nouilles et les raviolis. Mention spéciale à la gentillesse du personnel et à l’agréable salle de restauration, un vrai plaisir gastronomique à l’hôtel, les repas étaient variés, gourmands. L’hôtel est irréprochable en matière de propreté. Les chambres étaient parfaitement propres, ainsi que les salles de bain et les espaces communs. Literie impeccable, salle de bain soigneusement nettoyée quotidiennement, bravo aux équipes ! Piscine propre et chauffée et salle de sport bien équipée. Parfaitement situé, cet hôtel permet d’accéder rapidement aux lieux touristiques importants tout en bénéficiant d’un environnement calme. Un grand merci au personnel pour leur gentillesse et leur professionnalisme. Leur accueil chaleureux nous donne envie de revenir très vite !
