Very laid-back, peaceful resort. Great vibes.
Pros:

Our daughter and son-in-law were staying there and we came down for a night to visit them. It was such a great little resort. Very mid-century modern, comfortable beds, friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A Desert Gem With Soul, Style, and Heart
Pros:

Villa Royale is one of those rare places that feels like a true escape the moment you arrive. Tucked away in Palm Springs, it blends vintage charm with modern luxury in a way that feels effortless. The Spanish‑inspired architecture, lush landscaping, and intimate courtyards create an atmosphere that’s both serene and full of character.

The rooms are spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully curated. Every detail feels intentional — from the cozy bedding to the artistic decor — giving the space a boutique warmth that makes it easy to settle in. The property also shines in its pet‑friendly approach. The staff treats four‑legged guests with the same care and enthusiasm as their humans, and the amenities make traveling with a pet feel seamless rather than stressful.

The pool area is a highlight, offering a peaceful retreat perfect for lounging with a cocktail. The on‑site restaurant and bar deliver fresh, flavorful dishes and beautifully crafted drinks that encourage you to linger. And then there are the nightly fresh‑baked cookies — a small gesture that somehow becomes a cherished ritual. It’s the kind of touch that makes the place feel personal.

Another charming detail: the collection of books available to borrow. Whether you want something to flip through by the pool or a novel to unwind with in your room, it adds a cozy, home‑away‑from‑home feeling that sets Villa Royale apart.

What truly elevates the experience is the staff. They’re warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your stay special. Their pet‑friendly attitude, thoughtful recommendations, and easygoing hospitality create an environment that feels both elevated and welcoming.

If you’re looking for a getaway that’s stylish, intimate, and full of heart, Villa Royale is an exceptional choice. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit.

Restful stay in tranquil luxury
Pros:

The facilities are beautifully decorated in mid century modern style. The attention to details and upkeep of the property make it a relaxing sanctuary. There staff sweetly has a bottle of champagne and a sweet note for our anniversary upon our arrival. The food….omg….so good! We absolutely loved our stay here.

Villa Royale does not disappoint. It’s such a vibe.
Pros:

This is a gem! It has the coolest vibe. Fantastic service and the whole tone is set from sun up to sun down.
Let me set the vibe for you. You wake and walk out of your room (ours was so well done), walk by one of the fire pits past the pool to the outdoor breakfast by the fire. Sit there or take it back to your room. Breakfast spread hits 10/10.
Grab a chair and hang by the pool, enjoy chair side service or just the jug of cold water. Sun going down head across the pool to the hot tub, or up to the rooftop patio to watch it fall. Fab Onsite restaurant maybe and then settle in with fresh cookies at 8.
Such a vibe - think Boho Chic
It’s got such a great guest community feel since it’s so quaint without being in your face. Great parking. Quiet at nighttime for sleep. Awesome playlists. Great art all around. Strong WiFi. Lovely neighborhood. Walk to Bar Cecil.
Comfortable beds. Nice linen. Clean.

We asked for a room by the main pool but there are cute little nooks of rooms that are more private. Eventhough we were right there we felt our room was very private with a loving room, bedroom, bath and a back patio (we never used) chairs out front and in back. Room #12 it was a great choice.
I struggled choosing this hotel/location vs the Cottage House and The Thompson and we have no retreats on this trip with my husband. Villa Royale will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was a great pre holiday rush trip in early December.

Love this place and we would definitely visit again
Pros:

I absolutely love this place. It has the coolest vibe and the friendliest staff.

Cons:

The only thing I didn’t like was our room location. Next time I will request a room away from the main pool. It is way too noisy. The noise mainly came from the staff getting things ready for the day and special events.

Palm Springs Hotel That Feels Like Stepping Into Another World
Pros:

Due to a hotel-opening discount, we stayed at the Villa Royale on the day it opened. So, this review reflects a bit of the hotel's newness.

One of the things I liked was the Spanish Colonial architecture. We do love Mid-Century Modern, but there is a bit too much of that in Palm Springs. But that's just me. The hotel feels like a plush resort, but on a smaller (and perfectly nice) scale.

The room was large and sumptuous. All rooms are nearby the pool.

The on-site restaurant/bar, the Del Rey, is absolutely incredible. It's so nice to be able to walk mere feet to a dark, lovely, atmospheric restaurant. The staff are incredibly attentive, polite, and informative. Patrons come to the Del Rey who aren't guests, so that demonstrates the restaurant's appeal. They will accommodate you if you don't have reservations. But you can secure a better table if you do reserve.

The pool was strangely organized. They had one or two chairs poolside, and that's it. Again, this was opening day, and likely things have improved. More recently, we walked by the pool to get to the Del Rey, and it does seem to have more seating options.

The lobby, while small, is a cozy place to hang out for a while.

We do think that we should be granted a lifetime discount because we opened the place. But, hey, we'll live without it. The Villa Royale is definitely a destination hotel that will make your Palm Springs trip all the more enjoyable.

Serene getaway
Pros:

The highlight of my year is staying at the Villa Royale for my annual girls trip. It’s a beautiful, serene, historically charming hotel, with the exact right mix of modernization and original details. The staff are so kind and attentive. The main pool is beautiful and heated with a great pool bar and food, the two side pools are also picturesque (no heating in winter for the side pools but lovely to lay out with a book). I love the complimentary breakfast with bagels and lox, toast, mimosas, coffee, fruit, yogurt, chorizo and manchego, and hard boiled eggs. At night they offer cookies and milk.

This was my first time staying at the Villa Rosa section of the property and I really loved it. It was fun to have our own little getaway right across from the main building and the view of the mountains is even better on that side.

Keep in mind that- because it’s a historical property the bathrooms in the rooms are small (giant soaking tubs and double vanities just weren’t a priority in the 1930s), but well stocked. They’ll offer everything you need.
