Pros:

Guy behind the desk was very nice but rooms need a GOOD cleaning. Said there was a pool but was drained and had was used as a storage room.

The check in staff was wonderful. The room…not so much. Very dated, room smelled! Thought at first that it was just musty but as in there for a bit, smelled more like cat urine smell. The toilet was black in the bottom. The microwave looked like it was from 1950. Could hardly see out the windows since there was so much condensation.

The person at the desk was very friendly and helpful to indicate the closest door to our room. The beds were comfortable and the bedding and bathroom were clean.
The facility is not well maintained; needed painting inside, hole in the wall, unsightly landscaping, exterior paint failing.The room smelled musty.
Rated below average because it was not up to standards we are accustomed to.

The building is a former AmericInn, which looks almost identical to the AmericInn in Bemidji. The free breakfast was less than usual for hotels like this, but okay. For a more complete breakfast, I ate at the Hungry Duck in downtown Black Duck, which was good. The room was clean but could use some updating.

I would stay again. I believe it’s an area of limited accommodations available, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable but a little dated. There were mentions of problems relating to staff not showing up for work often, which made me fear how well the cleaning was done, but room was good.
