Pros:

The room was very clean and comfortable. Just perfect.

Cons:

The food. Just bad, not worth. Especially when there multiple nice restaurants around the corner.

Espresso machine was also broken, so they couldn’t even serve a proper espresso in the morning

True hospitality!
Pros:

What a fantastic stay! I am a team member who really takes notice of customer service and stay experience, and I have to say I have never felt so welcomed to a hotel! Jeffrey, the front desk supervisor, was so kind to me and my Dad, even striking up a conversation about hockey with us. We were in town for our first Sharks game, we are diehard fans so this trip was very exciting, and our stay made it even more enjoyable. The rooms were big and well-updated, the lobby was modern and easy to navigate, and the Secco restaurant was beautiful! In the restaurant, Leo and Nancy made our breakfast fun and memorable, with such positive attitudes and wonderful smiles. Our food was great too. All around, we had an amazing time, and we will be back next hockey season! Go Sharks go!

Better Than Expected thanks to Guest Service Agent Paul
Pros:

Front desk agent Paul really made my stay at this Hilton San Jose better than expected. The property is ideally located, clean, service standards are high. Breakfast in the restaurant was quick and good. Great way to start my day. I recommend this property. And thank you again, Paul for making a difference.

Cold showers. 100F
Pros:

This hotel has an attentive staff and a decent restaurant. The rooms are average to above average in cleanliness. Rooms are dated but with the convention center next door they probably don’t “need” to update. Lobby and public areas are more updated than the rooms. I have stayed here about 6-9 times in the last few months.
Beware however the water temperature and environmental cooling. Every trip has been marred by a less than hot shower. Finally on my last trip I called the desk and they sent up a maintenance engineer. He carried a thermostat. At the tap, on full hot, my shower was at 99.6 and my faucet at 100.1. For reference generally you want to see 120-140. When he sheepishly said it was ok I asked him what guidance he was provided for acceptable temp. He rolled his eyes and said the hotel tells us 100 is standard. So think that thru. The standard is 1 degree above your natural body temperature. The showers are tolerable but not enjoyable and I have asked my company to reconsider the continued use of this property. informal polling of coworkers resulted in them all in agreement that the showers were not very pleasant and the rooms not very cool during the day. I can only assume that with the aircon that never seems to get cold enough and the water that never gets hot enough that this is intentional by the property manager. I can understand and am willing to accept some limitations for energy savings but the cool showers are a deal breaker.

Worst Hotel Ever! No seriously.
Pros:

I can say, without hyperbole, the Hilton San Jose, is the most soulless, devoid of the spirit of hospitality hotel on earth. The staff revels in going out of their way to disappoint their guests and ensuring a good time is had by none. I stayed there during March Madness and the lobby bar doesn’t open until 3pm, and when they finally did, I stood patiently for 47 minutes waiting to order my drink. In my 48th minute, after still not being acknowledged, I gave up. I was never smiled at, looked at, spoken to, at 245 pounds I finally achieved invisibility!! Pretty incredible.

Unfortunately my experience was repeated each day I stayed there, never improving.

So, if you are looking to stay in a place where the staff treats you like garbage, please consider the Hilton. If you like being treated poorly and feeling like you are lesser, this is the place for you!!

The pillows are soft though.

Five stars all around
Pros:

We recently hosted an event at the Secco Patio Club at the Hilton San Jose, and the experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The patio itself is absolutely beautiful—spacious, well-designed, and perfect for creating a relaxed yet elevated atmosphere. It struck the ideal balance between comfort and style, making it a great setting for our guests to gather and enjoy the evening.

What truly stood out, though, was the service. The staff was exceptional—attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure everything ran smoothly. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and were consistently present without ever being intrusive.

The food was equally impressive—fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. Every detail felt well executed, which made hosting feel effortless on our end. Overall, it was a seamless and memorable experience, and we would absolutely host another event here.

The staff in the hotel were nice, everyone else outside was not
Pros:

Staff was very nice and accommodating, room was cleaned while we were out, very cozy.

Cons:

The darn convention threw everything off, our fault for being at the convention center hotel but getting to the parking lot was a giant pain and some of the traffic controllers were rude and extremely passive aggressive

Great Weekend Stay – Excellent Service and Spacious Suite
Pros:

I stayed at the Hilton San Jose this past weekend from Friday through Sunday and had a very positive overall experience.

Antonio at the front desk provided an excellent check-in experience. He was welcoming, professional, and kindly upgraded us to a one-bedroom luxury suite, which made the stay much more comfortable. It was a thoughtful gesture and set a great tone for the weekend.

I was traveling with a second guest, who is a cancer and stroke patient and has a service animal. The staff were very respectful and accommodating throughout the stay, which we truly appreciated. That level of understanding and professionalism makes a meaningful difference for guests who may have additional needs.

The suite itself was spacious, clean, and very well laid out. Compared to many downtown hotel suites, this one felt especially comfortable with a separate living area, dining table, and plenty of seating. The bedroom was quiet and comfortable, and the curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking downtown San Jose was easily one of the highlights of the room.

One area that could potentially be improved is the on-site restaurant, Secco. I ordered the three-egg omelette Saturday morning to-go and the Cali burger on Sunday before checkout. The food itself was fine, but for the price point of the entrees the quality and presentation didn’t quite match expectations. Guests should also be aware that Secco automatically adds a 10% gratuity to all to-go orders. While I understand service charges in certain situations, it felt a bit surprising given that the order was simply picked up to-go.

Overall, the hospitality from the team—especially Antonio—really stood out. Experiences like this are what keep travelers coming back, and I hope the management team recognizes the great service he provided.

As a Hilton Honors Diamond member who stays at Hilton properties often, this was a very comfortable and welcoming stay, and I would gladly return in the future.
