If I could give this hotel 0 star I would, the room and the whole hotel is dirty and smelly, there were cobwebs all over and even when we asked for it to be cleaned,it wasn’t.I would not recommend this hotel at all.The curtains are torn and would not close, the shower head was just dripping,I could barely wash properly. The light is the room is so dim and could barely see anything.I would attach pictures for reference.
Absolutely incredible stay in a beautiful part of Liverpool. The room was stunning — spotless, stylish, and felt like real luxury.
But what truly made it special was Mr Hassan. His level of care, kindness, and attention to detail is unmatched. He genuinely goes above and beyond for his guests, making you feel so welcome and valued from the moment you arrive.
Top-tier service all round, but Mr Hassan is the real gem. We will 100% be back!

Nothing more than a doss house. I might try the homeless hostel next time I'm in the area.
Falling apart, toilet stopped working, loads of dangerous black mold on windows. broken tiles on floor and walls, no light in bathroom not that it was very nice in there. taps not attached to bath correctly and bath overflow just hangin loose. dust and more dust everywhere. changed room for another once the toilet stopped filling. 2nd room slightly better but still very dusty and 2 windows latches broken. toilet cistern not attached to the wall, just balanced on the bowl. No tv due to no remote to finish setting it up so had to use ipad to watch tv as the main tv was just a setup screen and didn't have any controls on the TV itself. All in all this was a bloody awful experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
This establishment needs shutting down. The photos on booking.com bear absolutely no resemblance to what it is really like. The entrance smells damp covered up by air fresheners. There was no one at the small reception desk, eventually an Asian man who didn’t speak English appeared. He gave us our key to a room that was approx 4 mtrs sq. all the windows were open ( red flag ) the bathroom door wouldn’t close. The WC wouldn’t flush. Electrical sockets were loose on the wall . The room and bathroom were in a shocking state of disrepair and dirty. Do yourself a favour don’t believe the photos or any false feedback this place is appalling. How dare they charge £ to stay here. Apparently the environment agency who I reported it to advised that it isn’t a ( Hotel ) anymore it has been taken over by an agency that just lets rooms . No maintenance no security . We paid for 2 nights and left after one.
Rooms are completely unsanitary. The state of the room was not merely a disappointment, specially for what we paid!
We immediately flagged it with reception, who assured us someone would go clean the room before we left for dinner. When we got back to our room, it was in the same condition as when we left.
I found various types of human body hair throughout the bedsheets;
There were dead bugs trapped in the blinds and an active spiderweb with a dead spider suggesting a long-term lack of pest control and deep cleaning;
The desk, wardrobe, and sofa chair were covered in prominent stains, indicating that the room has not been properly wiped. Furthermore, the floor was littered with plastics and clearly not hoovered for at least a few days.
We didn’t use the shower because we didn’t think the towels would be clean to any standard. Upon leaving the next morning we saw the new “clean” towels for the rooms stacked on the carpet. A carpet which was also dirty.
Has anyone got a contact number for the manager here been trying to contact now involving a very dangerous guest
Rooms were dirty, unkempt and smelt of dogs. Toilet seat fell off. Advertised as bar/restaurant and lounge available, were all closed. No bulbs in bedside lamps. Bathroom was disgustingly.
10/10 experience in this hotel. Excellent price for a great location and very close to central Liverpool. 2 minute walk to lark lane and right on Sefton park for a morning walk. Very clean and secure! Friendly and helpful staff and would definitely recommend. Will definitely be back!
We arrived 6pm. Hassan, the 'Manager' was sitting on a chair in 'reception' area. It didn't look like a reception desk and he seemed to be doing check in etc via a lap top he was carrying around. All the doors to other rooms were closed and the air smelt of stale tobacco with a distinct aroma of 'weed' in the air. He was pleasant, polite and chatty offering us a choice of room 10 down some stairs a very small room or a bigger, front facing room 42 with a fantastic double window view over Sefton Park. It was dark and we were tired and hungry so took the larger room. We noted there were some disappointing features but decided after checking the bedding was clean we would be able to see more next morning. Easy walk to Lark Lane for many food and drink options. Although there did seem to be a lot of drunks and active beggars approaching as you walked by. On returning to the room there was no plug socket on one side of the bed which we needed for a medical device. The sash windows in our room would not open as the sash cords had broke. There was an ironing board but no iron. The hair dryer provided was filthy from several years of use. There was dust and mould on the bedroom and bathroom windows. A hot drink had been split by the bed at some point and now stained the skirting board. We chose not to use the shower as the grime was visible on the head and controls. All shampoo/soap containers were empty (other options provided but would have preferred the sachets to be emptied into the fixed containers for ease of use). There was no toilet brush provided. The wall tiles and floor hadn't been cleaned. When I moved the bin to put something in it, there was rubbish from a previous occupants there and bugs on the bin lid. The bathroom lock didn't work and there was no privacy blind at the window. It stated a bath mat was provided but none visible. Tiles that had come off the wall were propped up against the wall. We felt unsafe with the main door security but always carry a mobile lock for our own preference so popped that on. The tv didn't work properly with wires hanging down. We booked in for 2 nights and the coffee tray was not replenished. The pots not washed and the room not serviced. In addition when we checked in and tried to book breakfast we were advised the restaurant was not open, the bar was not open and breakfast unavailable. The photos on the website do not reflect the true interior of this once grand hotel and the garden needs tlc too, starting with stopping smoking and discarding cigarette butt's in front of the entrance door! No tourist/travel information on display. No fire safety, no welcome to the hotel etc etc...very poor. In addition the double fronted view we were promised was obscured with condensation from the windows that wouldn't open so kack if ventilation and no radiators on in bedroom or bathroom. Didn't see any staff on duty during entire stay other than Hassan at check in. He said call his mobile if needed after doors locked at 11pm.
Great hotel. Staff were fantastically helpful and welcoming, will be back soon.
Doesn’t really look anything like the photos when you type the hotel in.
The water from the tap wasn’t flowing it kept spitting aggressively. There was a stain on one of the towels we hadn’t used.
The reception was hardly a reception as there guy just had a laptop on his desk and nothing else.
My boyfriend tried to phone them multiple times to arrange some balloons or flowers in the room, they never picked up once out of the many calls we tried to call them.
He also booked a deluxe room but was tiny with a little window.
Definitely not worth the amount he payed which is a shame.
However location is only a 10 minute journey from the centre and the beds are very comfy.
Unfortunately I didn’t take photos because I wasn’t planning to write a review, we only stopped the 1 night.
Very basic room and could definitely use and update to furniture. It was clean and tidy but, the draw curtains were not attached to the rail and just hanging, the radiator knob in the bedroom was broken, a few lights weren’t working and the water for a shower was not very hot. We travelled from Sunderland and when arrived, there was no one on reception. We tried to call the mobile number given but that went straight to voicemail. My partner sent a text and about 10 minutes later, a gentleman named Hassan appeared apologised and said the mobile had ran out of battery (not good if you’re expecting guests). The toilet didn’t flush properly either. When we were leaving in the morning, there was such a strong smell of weed. Not good at all. Such a shame considering it is right opposite the beautiful Sefton Park.
Dear owners,
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my recent stay at the Aigburth Hotel on Dec 05 -09, under booking confirmation 5072305658. My experience at your property was unacceptable, unsafe, and far below any reasonable standard of hospitality. I am therefore requesting a full refund.
Upon arrival, the hotel appeared completely unstaffed. There was no one at reception at night, in the morning, or later in the afternoon, leaving guests without support or even access to basic necessities. I am six months pregnant, and not being able to obtain fresh drinking water placed me in an extremely distressing and unsafe situation.
The first room provided was in an appalling condition. It had a strong, unpleasant odour, and the amount of dust present made it resemble a construction site. It was clearly unsanitary and unsafe. Guests in front of me also complained, and the elderly couple travelling with me refused to stay in such conditions.
Management then moved us to the front of the hotel and offered what they referred to as a “suite,” which was equally unacceptable. In addition, the manager repeatedly referred to me as “big boss,” a comment I found inappropriate and insulting.
The alleged suite contained:
Mould on the windows
Leaves on the bathroom floor
Bugs inside the lighting fixtures and elsewhere in the room
Cobwebs throughout the space
I was travelling with elderly dependants, who were exhausted and had no alternative accommodation at 11pm. We had no car and nowhere else to go at that hour. I did not feel safe in this hotel, either physically or hygienically.
The following day, I was forced to spend $200 on an Uber to hire a car and move everyone to a safe, clean hotel—one that cost the same but actually met basic standards. As we left, the manager followed me outside and attempted to offer a third room, another “bigger suite,” which I declined. At that point, I had no confidence in the hotel’s ability to provide safe drinking water for me, my unborn baby, or my elderly relatives.
This entire experience was humiliating, distressing, and completely unacceptable, especially given my pregnancy and my responsibility for vulnerable travellers. The fact that I have even had to write this complaint after such conditions—and after not being offered an immediate refund—is extremely disappointing.
Given the serious health, safety, and hygiene failures, and the total lack of functioning staff, I am requesting a full refund for booking.
This complaint was never taken by customer service!!
The room smelt of wet dog and had black mould, the smoke alarms were covered by toilet roll, the main lights didn’t even work, you could hear every noise from every room, the bed was uncomfortable, the window had green moss growing on it and was drafty, the lock never felt secure and someone actually came into our room whilst we were sleeping, the manager refused to accept responsibility, became verbally abusive and threatened to call the police when issues were raised.
Lovely welcome, and efficient service. I was upgraded to the business suite, which was huge, lovely clean crisp bedding, massive bathroom and everthing you may need.. Would definitely stay there again..
This hotel is barely 3-star. It was unclean, untidy and unkempt. The description online is not accurate and the place is in significant need of upgrade. The photos are clearly taken from years ago. The lobby area is dirty and the doors are covered in grime. The hotel manager was sitting at a chair in the ‘glasshouse’ and after 48 hours the table was covered in dirty crockery and food wrappers. It had been cleaned at all. The glasshouse was littered with rubbish bags, a mattress on the floor and curtains. Sitting on the bed - you went straight through to the frame. Mattresses are cheap and you wouldn’t want to sleep on them. This is not a place anyone should consider staying at. I have requested a refund for dishonest and inaccurate advertising (don’t believe the photos) but the hotel manager has refused to comply as of yet - hence this very negative review. Please look elsewhere for somewhere to stay.
First room we were given the door didn't lock and there was water pouring through the air vent in the bathroom moved us to a different room but in the middle of the night our door which has a key pad to open, opened and a man tried to enter our room twice , in 25 years of coming to Liverpool this is probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in so much so we left at 06,30 the next morning to go home avoid this place
My wife and I stayed here for one night while attending a birthday party in Liverpool.
The building is very impressive and was once a wedding venue. Unfortunately it has seen better days and needs a lot of money spending on it.
The whole ground floor is basically an empty shell. The reception desk is not manned but there is mobile number to call when checking in.
The lift was out of order when we stayed but I'd also read previous reviews mention this also.
The room was clean and functional but was showing signs of years of neglect. We opened the window and the wooden frame came away from the glass at the bottom.
Overall it was OK, a bit pricey at £180 for 1 night but OK. I hope the new owners plan to invest and try and restore this place to its former glory.
From the warm welcome as soon as we arrived Hassan and his Son could not have been more helpful and friendly. The hotel is undergoing some work to renovate this beautiful Victorian building, the rooms are lean and comfy and the real feel of a family run hotel makes it a great place to stay. Eating In lark lane round the corner is fantastic and a walk around the beautiful Sefton park is essential, great location it will be my place to stay on every Lpool visit
