The beds are good

Stayed at Hotel La Fortezza and had a really solid experience overall. The location is super convenient—close to the train station and about a 20-minute walk to the Duomo—while still being in a quieter neighborhood, which we really appreciated after busy days out.

The hotel itself is newly renovated, very clean, and has 24/7 reception. The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. We stayed on the first floor and found the beds soft and comfortable, and the showers were great (though the shower handle did try to pop off once).

A couple small notes: the city tax is paid at checkout (we’ve more often seen it collected at check-in), and the mini fridge is included/free, which was a nice perk.

For getting to the train station, we recommend walking on the right side of the park with the Ferris wheel—this route had less incline and better sidewalks compared to the left side, which was steeper and more worn down.

Overall, a great stay—comfortable, convenient, and good value.

This hotel was super nice. There was a front desk team (very friendly) and the cards for the rooms are so easy to use. The room was beautiful and bathroom super nice. I highly recommend this stay!:)

This hotel is VERY nice - we happened to stay while they were renovating in one of the newly completed rooms. Amazing, modern upgrades that you don't often find at this price level in Italy. Spaces rooms. Totally renovated. Keycard entry and modern amenities. The breakfast buffet downstairs was delicious and included in your stay. The location was an easy 15 minute walk from the train station right near a park. It's another 15-20 minute walk to the heart of downtown Florence.

Hotel molto pulito e gradevole. Staff super accogliente e disponibile. Camere ristrutturate con bagni molto comodi e completi di tutto. Anche lo staff della colazione disponibili e pronti a soddisfare ogni richiesta. Vicinissimo al centro raggiungibile a piedi e in tram. Consigliatissimo!

The hotel is located two minutes from tram stop 1 which can take you close into the city centre and about 10 minutes walking from tram stop 2 which could take you directly to the airport.
My room was clean and very spacious with plenty of storage space, lots of hangers & a very clean & modern bathroom.
There’s a safe and a mini fridge with two complementary bottles of water. There’s also a kettle to make coffee/tea but flimsy paper cups not reusable/ceramic mugs.
The bed is relatively comfortable, although I personally found the sheets, a little too rough and scratchy.
The only downside was the room temperature. Florence was 25 Celsius and the heating was on in every room. I did ask on my 2nd night for the heating to be turned off, but then it became stuffy as there’s no other ventilation, so I had to leave the window open all night. Which also means you hear the constant outside traffic.
Breakfast was decent, just eggs, cereal, yogurt and lots of cakes and pastries.
I did find all the staff very friendly and helpful especially at reception and in the breakfast section.

Hotel accomodations were lovely and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located near the train station and also the airport. We really ejoyed are stay.

About a 10-15 minute very easy walk into the centre of Florence/Duomo square. After exploring around I think I'd much rather stay 10 minutes out than in the bustling city center, where cars cant access. Nothing was a problem with the staff they were great, from organising taxis to storing bags. We had newly renovated rooms (we had 2 rooms) & the beds were exceptional, very comfortable.
We discovered a cafe just down the road Valu Cakes & Bakery - highly recommend

Très bon accueil, souriant et serviable. Très belle chambre rénovée. Literie très confortable, belle salle de bains. Possibilité de parking en dehors de la ZTL. Nous avons apprécié recevoir des recommandations de lieux pour dîner aux alentours, puisqu'il n'y a pas de restaurant dans l'hôtel. Petit déjeuner très varié, aux produits frais de qualité. Situation géographique à 15 min à pied du nord du centre historique. Nous avons été ravis de notre séjour.

It was a very clean and modern hotel. The stay was fine. It was a nice hotel. It’s not ideal for maneuvering with a stroller as every time you enter you have to walk up a long flight of stairs. The hall ways are very narrow. But the rooms were very clean and solid. Shower was great. Bidet was excellent. Breakfast was included but was just ok. As I’ve said several times throughout this process, the ongoing construction was disappointing. It was on every floor. The entire building was essentially under renovation. I almost felt like they should just close it down until it’s done. Was noisy at times. They also were sawing right outside my window on the outdoor stairwell. They had a clear view of my room (unless we closed the curtains which we did). The location is also not great. However, it IS right next to the tram that you can take. So it’s do able.. however, I obviously wish we could’ve just walked to the main areas of the city instead of taking the tram. But overall it wasn’t too bad doing that. Just was an extra step.

What a gem of a hotel. Location superb with a bus and tram terminus within a 5 min walk. Hotel is currently undergoing a complete renovation but this does not affect your stay. The rooms are well furnished, clean, bright and amenties provided are kettle for tea and fridge with bottled water. The tea is replaced but not the bottledxwater. Bathrooms have large shower, bidet, hairdryers and shower gel and soap. Beds very comfy with 2 pillows.
Staff are excellent, welcoming and helpful. English and French were spoken. Breakfast available to book separately if required.
Comments - no coffee was included only English Breakfast and Earl Grey and no milk. We didnt ask for any so im sure it would have been provided. Cups on the tea tray were cardboard cups. Would have been nice to have a real cup but I appreciate it keep costs lower.

Friendly greeting during check in, followed by issue-free stay.

Hotel is remodeling, but it was a minimal inconvenience. Rooms are modern and bathroom was fantastic (best shower ever). I do hope they can maintain some of the classic visual charm i saw online though.

Breakfast was very good, a few more savory items might have been nice though.

Originally thought it was a bit out of the way, then discovered a very convenient tram line at the end of the block. Excellent if coming in/out of train station.

Very happy with the stay.

We stayed two nights at La Fortezza because of its location -- easy access to transport options to the airport at the end of our Italy trip, yet still within walking distance (1 mile) to the heart of Florence or to the train station. The room was very clean & comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was fine. But the best part of our stay was the reception staff — all three of the folks we encountered at the front desk were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, as well as bilingual, just what you want when staying in a new city in a new country.
