A room with a fireplace next to the sliding glass door to our own outdoor “box”, snuggled in seaside fauna and flora, where we could enjoy a drink or coffee, and gaze beyond Moonstone Beach Drive to a majestic cypress at the sea cliffs edge, and the beautiful, almighty Pacific Ocean beyond. One morning foggy and moody, by noon, deep ultramarine blue, surrounded by sunlit nature. A short walk to the nearby restaurant / bar for good take-out and lunch. A delightful walk on the boardwalk along all of Moonstone Beach. Topped off with a perfect birthday dinner and dessert at the always-amazing Sea Chest Oyster Bar!
What’s not to like?
Great location. Rooms were nicely decorated, modern and very clean. Nice amenities in the bathroom. Room included a mini fridge and coffeemaker with Starbucks coffee and mini-moo creamers (not powdered). Nice gas fireplace in room.
The property and location were great. They had a nice bonus room by the pool with a fireplace, where they served coffee, fruit and coffee cake in the morning. On the first morning there was no coffee cake left, and no decaf coffee. On the 2nd morning, the lobby and coffee room were scheduled to open at 7am. We waited until 7:30, a there was no staff to open the lobby or breakfast room, or check us out. We went into town for coffee, and came back about 8am to heck out, and there was still no staff. We were sent a check-out email link that did not work. We left the keys in the room and left.
I followed up with a phone call about 10:30 am to make sure we were checked out. They offered no explanation as to why no one was available in the morning.

The location is perfect, parking is easy next to your room, and the rooms were comfortable inside. The pool was warm, and there were various lounge spaces throughout the hotel, which were nice to use to enjoy the view.
The doors slam very hard, and I found them disrtuptive in the morning when others on the hall would wake up and leave, waking us up. I highly suggest the hotel make the doors more gently closing. "Breakfast" is included, but it's more like a light snack. I would suggest the hotel invest in at least greek yogurt and some cereal boxes to consider this a breakfast.

Location on Moonstone Beach is excellent. Our room was very large, clean, and comfortable. Pool area is very nice. Lots of cable stations, not always the case in Cambria.
Our only complaint was problem with cellphone service from our room. This is not unusual in Cambria, where cell service can vary within a few yards on the actual coastal sections. WiFi worked fine, but could not sweats use the phone from our room.
The breakfast was okay. Coffee cake, muffins, cereals, nutrition bars and coffee. But it could get picked over quickly. Nice hospitality room, complete with fireplace. The breakfast hours go later than many places, but you still had to get in there to be h if getting what you want. That said, the coffee cake and muffins were good.🤗
The room itself was generally fine, but the service we received at check-in left a very poor first impression and put a damper on our vacation.
We arrived at around 3 p.m., but nobody was at the front desk. We waited approximately 20 minutes, during which other guests arrived and waited as well. When the staff member, an older woman, finally appeared, she offered neither an explanation nor an apology.
We were first in line. After asking for our name, she requested our booking confirmation number. I had not prepared it beforehand, as previous hotels had usually checked us in using our names or passports. It took me less than 30 seconds to find it on my phone, but she was already telling us to step aside so she could check in other guests.
The more concerning issue was her response when we asked about the credit card charge. I understood that our Booking.com reservation had already been paid in full, so I wanted to clarify whether the requested payment was a deposit or another charge. English is not our first language, and we politely tried to confirm the details. Instead of helping us understand, she repeatedly said she did not understand what we meant and abruptly ended the interaction without providing a clear explanation.
Questions about payments deserve a clear, courteous answer. Having other guests waiting does not justify making us feel rushed or dismissed, especially after we had already waited for an unattended front desk.
Our interaction with a different staff member the following day was much better, so this complaint specifically concerns the woman who checked us in. I hope management addresses her conduct. Based on this experience, I would hesitate to stay here again, particularly if I needed assistance or clarification at check-in.
Rooms are bigger than at most motels. Boardwalk along the bluffs easy to access. You can walk to the nearby restaurants. Pricey but you are paying for easy access to the shoreline. Fully worth it for that!
Cambria is a nice little town. It's very convenient to Hearst Castle which is a must see. The Fireside inn is comfortable and steps from the beach.
We were very disappointed with this hotel. We booked king size room and were given a queen size bed. While checking in, they couldn’t find the key to our room and kept asking if we were part of “Amber’s party”. We assume they gave our room to other people who wanted to be next to each other. Upon my husband going to the office to tell them we were not in the room we booked, they insisted the bed in the room was a king and would not do anything about it. There was no apology for putting us in the wrong room. We have a king size bed at home for reference. Later that evening, we found a tape measurer and confirmed the bed was in fact a queen.
The next day, my husband went back to the office (next door to the queen size room we were given) and was told we would receive a $50 refund per night for the incorrect room and they couldn’t give us the correct room because they were fully booked up. Later that afternoon, I received a knock on the door to tell me that they couldn’t refund us at all because we book through American Express. We were given a $30 bottle of wine and a postcard for our troubles.
Additionally, the included breakfast (pastries) was completely gone by 8:30am both days we visiting.
Not worth almost $800 for a weekend. I would not recommend staying here unless you enjoy being gaslit by poor customer service representatives.
Wonderful facility. Clean and well-furnished. Great location! Right at the beach! Watch the ocean while drinking coffee on your patio! Friendly and helpful staff!
Great location and friendly staff but not worth the high price. Breakfast starts late, no protein options and coffee is not a priority. The beach boardwalk across the street is phenomenal.

Poor breakfast offering - not continental at all. Disappointing
This is the perfect place to stay in Cambria. Right on the water allowing us to explore the rugged coastline. Clean, quiet, and nice continental breakfast. We will return.
