Kluney Manor

Very poor quality of rooms. The main cot had broken head rest and the extra bed was rusted and pathetic looking. The food tasted good but the spread was poor. On Sunday morning the breakfast had idli, dosa, bread and omlette, cornflakes, tea and coffee. And for this spread we had to wait for dosa to be ready. Not enough food to serve customers. We were waiting for 10 mins between each dosa we got. In all the experience was very poor. No hot water coming from taps for bath. They gave us hot water in buckets and we were kept waiting for that too.

The most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. I felt like we were staying in a fairy tale. Very relaxing and soothing. Good food good service good hot water good tea. What else do u need? They set up a fireplace on request which feels surreal. Must visit

Experience is, more or less satisfactory, except restaurant. Though breakfast was supposed to be served at 08.00 AM, always it was served after 08.30 causing extreme difficulty to board the 09.15 toy train and 09.15 bus to Kannur (Kerala).
Punctuality is VERY POOR.

Entire stay is quite amazing, however, we had a problem with hot water connection in the room. Up on informing to the hotel staff, they changed the room. They have amazing restaurant.

Our team citrus 79 booked the entire property of 29 rooms of 3 different styles for our reunion. The property management assured us that the whole property would be for our use. When we checked in on December 9 th and around 4 pm the reception area was shifted out and a film shooting unit took over the place to prepare for their shooting. From then on till December 10 th night our peace was lost. No one from property management took responsibility for any complaints made. There was shortage of heaters. In this cold winter the hotel did not have enough heaters to be made available even though they levy extra fee for use of heaters. Love electrical wires were passing through the corridor and the veranda was filled with sofas and other heavy items hindering free movement. The mosque by the shooting crew was unbearable gir guests staying in vintage cottages and guests had to remind the person in hotel to stop noisy carpentry work.
The hotel management seeet talks you and never delivers on its promise. So any group event organisers please take double precaution before you book the hotel. The quality of vegetarian food was below par.

We have a long association with "Hammock Holidays" who continues to plan our holidays since last 10 years. Ramananda from 'Hammock Holidays' booked us at Kluney Manor but somehow, we were a bit doubtful reading some of the recent reviews on trip advisors. All our doubts were converted to delight during our 2 nights stay at this wonderful property. The property is vintage and well maintained. Staff is very courteous and go out of the way to make your stay comfortable. The garden and surrounding is well maintained. The food is exceptionally good with a wide varieties of Indian and Chinese. Breakfast spread however can be improved. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would like to visit again.
While we received outstanding service from the entire staff, some special mentions of Prem, Ram , Jenny and Mushtak (the Chef )

Rooms are good and well maintained but the response of the hotel staff is worst. The guy in the reception has no patience and no welcoming look. Restaurant at night is full and no adequate staff and have a irritant face. I would not recommend this hotel if you want to have peaceful staff.

Miserable service...
A glass of milk ordered for a three year old kids was served almost after an hour and half. Finally when we requested to please help us since the kid was getting so tired, the answer was they didn't have a free stove. With the whole restaurant crowded and soo many room occupied, we could just see two men serving the whole ppl.

Rooms provided did not have a working kettle. No complimentary tea , coffee sachets not even a bottle of drinking water.
Complimentary breakfast was with idli, Vada and bread, omelette...

However, if your purpose of stay here happens to be taking good photographs, you would be getting an excellent ambience.

Classy Heritage Property in ooty.. Very and clean Big Spacious Rooms. Amazing well maintain Gardens and Property.. Amazing Stay @ Ooty near city and more like a private party place.. Food needs improvement. Great Super value for money.. 3rd visit to ooty and this was the really classy and special.

We had visited Klueny Manor, Ooty in December 2021. We reached there late night to know that they cannot find our booking. They finally arranged a room after some time.
The room was horrible. Sofa and bed was unclean. Curtains, bedsheets were tore.
They also used to keep all trash (mainly food) outside room and in restaurants lying there overnight.
They did not even have right arrangements for drivers.
Overall bad experience for stay but good food :)

We had went for lunch here with family with great expectation but it was horrible experience with us ever.We had ordered for Hot N Sour Soup and Fried rice along with Noodles and Biryani.The soup was like red chilli paste is dissolved in hot water we requested to change then he bring Manchow and it was like sweetcorn soup.The fried rice was totally uncooked even we were not able to chew properly.When we requested to change or modify the service personal Sarwanna denied to accept our request as he said it becomes like that only.Only one person was there in restaurant he just kept the food on table and it was like self service restaurant.And at the end he got the bill on white paper along with GST added in that.There was no card payment option in hotel as he said we only accept cash or G-Pay.
Cant expect such behavior and service from such good hotel I will not suggest anyone to visit this place.You will definately get disappointed.
I am writing this review because I am also from hospitality industry.

I think this is the most affordable vintage property one can have in ooty , it's 200 year old property huge garden and courtyards , variety of rooms , we stayed in standard which was not up to the mark so shifted to Duke next day , madam was supportive , they get award for best gardens every year , there is not much of mountain view from room but their marriage hall side have some views . I am sure with some improvement in their basic category rooms can extract more money from customers

Another improvement area is that they are still that old school
We just requested for semi fried egg inplace of ommelete they denied
They said it's not possible I mean come on this was the first time where in eggs to order they will serve only ommelete not fried eggs , bizzare 😭

Hotel is beautiful with gardens well maintained. Major area where the hotel lacks is good management.They promise but cant deliever.Food quality especially the breakfast is below standard
Would advice to avoid as with the same budget,much better options are available.

We had booked3 rooms from 18th dec to 20th dec. it was booked in the name of Chandru and we were promised all room in the same area.An advance of 5 thousand was done through g pay on 11th dec . We where promised 3 rooms in the same area. What happened when we reached was a different scene.

At first they said the rooms were not booked and then they said only two rooms were booked - complete confusion among the staff despite having a proper booking.
Finally they agreed we had booked 3 rooms and the confusion was because they had taken over booking.

We got the rooms after waiting for one hour Room sizes pathetically small and in total contrary to what was promised.

We had to walk up and down and in spite of all that we did not get any support.
I am a native of Ooty and this is my 5th visit to Kluny. Since one room was very bad we asked for a room change and they said it is not possible after confrontation with the staff we decided to move out and the front office staff Bala agreed to refund the booking amount. We where made to wait 45 minutes and they Bala says he will transfer the amount the next day. We are still waiting for the refund and when I call them they are giving lame excuses. This place is was good I repeat it was good but now with new staffs and don’t care attitude manager (Jessi) this place will be closed soon .
I hope the management takes notice of this and at least get a feedback from customers like us . (My phone number is available withe Bala).
Friends avoid this place and if you have done any booking please confirm with them before going and ask for the allocated room number.
Being born and lived in Ooty for 25 years of my life i feel ashamed that we have a place like Kluney manor managed by such pathetic staff. hope the management will take notice of the same and do something to improve the quality of the staff.

This is a 200 year old property built by the British during their days. Slightly away from the main city and a steep incline to reach the property. The rooms are big but they somehow get very cold and their small room heaters don't do the job. Food is good and overall a decent stay.

Rooms and hotel staff is very nice and Cooperative. What a lovely place full of greenery. Beautiful place and food severed is also awesome and very tasty. Overall all a very lovely natural beauty place.

Wonderful place for a wonderful weekend to spend. I liked the hospitality and cleanliness of the resort, good management, this is the second time I am staying the klunneys property, the management is changed and it's worth , breakfast was simply awesome

We were nearly about 60 of us elderly medicos from Madras Medical College who thoroughly enjoyed our stay in KLM. The victorian ambience and excellent service. Fantastic tasty food. Clean spacious rooms. Lower deck rooms are not fit for the elderly. Quite steep to climb up & down. The lawn is nice. Office staff and housekeeping are very polite. The main grouse is no running hot water supply ( only three hours in the morning). The dining experience is great. Simple but good food. KLM neated tucked away from the noisy polluted part of Ooty. We were given a package for three nights and hence cost-effective. We all had an enjoyable time thanks to Kluny Manor & weather God's.

I am just back from a 4 day stay at Kluney Manor. This was a college reunion of doctors.. we had famous doctors from abroad and well known doctors from all over India. I had booked the full resort for 60 of us.
As soon as all landed, the first impression was of ethereal beauty. Their lawn and garden are so so good. The service was excellent. The boys were so well mannered, respectful and active.
The food was superlative.Absolutely no complaints...We used the lawn and the dining hall.. absolute class.
The maintenence of the rooms could be a little better. But they had taken all pain to do a good job.
I must mention Mr Jhani, mrs Jessy, Vishal of F&B,mr krishnamurthy,and every one rose.
Thank you all. I would go there again and again.

I have been visiting Ooty since more than three decades now and this time I visited this place as we had our Madras Medical College 1975 batch Alumni Reunion. About 50 of my classmates had come and stayed here for two nights and we all had a memorable time.This is a heritage hotel and I stayed in the classic heritage room adjacent to the reception which had a canopy bed and old classic wooden furniture.Service is courteous and the decor is good as I have always been fascinated by colonial structures and vintage places and heritage buildings. This is situated atop a hill has a lawn has a decent dinning room and the lounge is good.The reception and a few things need renovation and a little attention.
