Our stay was fantastic they decorated our mother's room as it was her 80th, there should of been a charge but I had trouble trying to make the request..by phoning and emails so they did it free..would defo go back
Over priced bar prices and had to wait a while as only one on the bar
The hotel was lovely and the staff were helpful and friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable.
our particular room was situated at the rear of the hotel at the far end from the reception, situated a few hundred yards to the rear of the hotel is a nightclub that plays loud music till 6 o'clock in the morning making sleep rather difficult.
The location. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable.
Nothing not to like.
The hotel may look scruffy from outside but the interior is very comfortable and the bedrooms are very modern and spacious. The hotel is situated directly in front of the leisure gardens with great views across to the pier.
The lift was a bit shaky and needs to be cleaned up.
Central position, large rooms some with king beds just needs renovations.
Bedding not up to standards.
Staff were excellent and even upgraded our rooms which were excellent, location good. Food in the evening was good as was breakfast
Been coming for years but the hotel has really upped its game the entertainment was excellent 10outof 10. Keep it up
Will be back. More often.
Everything
Loved everything, nothing i didnt like!
This is a proper old fashioned hotel, unlike the modern 'box' hotels. It has a large lounge area with comfy leather seats, bar, large ballroom/function room, wide corridors and, if you choose to use the stairs, these are wide and quite impressive in themselves. My room was clean, a decent size and had a large bathroom. Breakfast was as you would expect and great value. There is also cheap parking on site.
All in all, I don't know why you wouldn't stay at the Royal Clifton, I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Southport.
Nothing much really.
Room
We were located to a different room.
The restaurant closed 5 minutes before we had decided to eat there for breakfast but the two wonderful staff accommodated us.
Our initial room 140 was too far from reception. The room was small, damp and cold and the radiator didn’t work. The bed was damp. Then the key didn’t work, several times. It was a long trek back to reception to get it activated. No telephones in the room. No hot water despite running it for a long time. The bathroom was very tired and desperately needs updating as does room 140 and 6 with a pink suite although the latter was more acceptable. Parking was at a minimum. The bar was closed before midnight on a Saturday night and I could not purchase any bottled water on my return from reception. The breakfast at £12:50 per head left a lot to be desired in quality.
Hotel bit run down in places but room clean and as expected. Pillow not great n bed not that comfy. Overall though as expected for the price.
The bed. The mattress overlapped the base and very soft so concerned I’d fall out.
The room was a smallish not much room
