Best Western Plus All Suites Inn

I don’t like the fact that there is only one entrance into the hotel and our room was all the way in the back of the hotel. There was mold on the bathroom door.

We booked a specific room through booking.com. It was supposed to be an extra large room and was supposed to include a pull out sofa. We have kids. We need more beds. Check in was at 4pm, we arrived at 3pm. We were told we were in luck because our room was ready and we could check in early. For an extra charge. Always nickeling and diming for an extra charge after we are already paying Santa Cruz prices to sleep there for a night. We paid the fee so we could set our stuff down and take our kids to the beach. I refrained from asking them if we checked out an hour early the next morning did we get a discount? When we viewed our room, it was not extra large and no sofa. We informed the front desk only to be told it was booking.com fault for posting the wrong room description. We were offered a rollaway bed. For an extra charge. When we returned that evening, the parking garage was full so we had to find street parking. The rollaway bed that we paid extra for had no pillows. I went to the front desk to request pillows only to be immediately told by the front desk that they had no extra pillows. They just had this response ready. I would describe this property as entitled and “politely”inhospitable. It is the busy season in a popular area and they made it clear they don’t need our business because they have plenty of business anyway. They had the opportunity to do the right thing for us and did not bother doing it. I later called Booking.com about the incorrect room description and they assured me that it is the property itself that creates the room descriptions and submits them, and updates the booking site on their availability. Clean hotel, but customer service matters to us. We miss the good old days when customers mattered.

We were in the first floor and the people staying in the second floor were too loud and too late, 2-3 AM to be exact. The shower area is one straight floor with only curtains and the water went all over the place that we had to used the towels to prevent the water to go outside the bathroom. The WiFi did not work.

The bathroom didn’t have any counter space. We had to bring a small table in from the bedroom.

I think the housekeeping staff is overwhelmed. It didn’t seem that a common area routine was in place. A simple walkthrough of those areas 2 or 3 times a day would have really improved the precaution of your hotel. On our floor (3rd) there were 2 rooms that had used towels and bagged garbage outside their doors the length of our entire stay. We noticed the elevator got progressively dirtier over our stay. It didn’t help that it was raining and muddy footprints kept building up.

The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. However, this was hardly the staffs fault. I’m assuming it was due to another guest as it was a false alarm.

One of the drawers in the dresser kept opening about an inch due to the bottom being uneven or the floor was slightly at a slant, I don’t know which.

Also, the footprint/distance between the toilet and bathroom door was so small you had to step all the way into the bathroom to shut the door, and I’m a fairly small person.

Again, none of the above was the fault of the staff. They were friendly, helpful, apologetic about the alarm (even though it was not their fault), and provided a clean welcoming environment and a fresh breakfast in the morning.

I wish we had a window to the outside instead of the hallway/lobby. No air flow, smelled kind of stagnant.
