Hotel Indigo Florence by IHG

We stayed here for one night and overall had a good experience. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, which made a positive first impression. The room was a decent size, comfortable, and had a nice view to street.

However, we felt the price was quite high for what was offered, especially as breakfast was not included. Another downside was the noise from the tram and the street outside (including horses passing), which could be disturbing at times.

Overall a good stay, but slightly overpriced for one night.

We loved this hotel for many reasons- location, staff, beautiful decor… however.
I know Italy isn’t really big on air conditioning but the room was so hot & stuffy. There is an AC controller on the wall, but clearly doesn’t do anything. It was warm outside during the day but chilly at night, so we opened the balcony door to try and cool the room down, but then it’s noisy from the cars & trams outside. This was in March- god only knows what it would be like in the height of summer.
Also the WiFi didn’t work at all during our stay, not really a big deal for us but some people might rely on it.
But please- sort out the room temperature, I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you need aircon.

Stayed from the 1st to the 6th of February and couldn't have better experience!
Every staff member was very welcoming. Each time we walked by the reception the staff would look at us and greet us.
The room was lovely, very well decorated and with good amenities and spotless clean everyday. Breakfast food was amazing and had a lot of variety! The Location is perfect, very close to the stop of the tram T2 from the airport and can easily walk to all the tourist attractions.

We have to highlight:

Tommaso from the Front Desk. He checked us in, was wonderful, very helpful and friendly and checked us in smoothly.

Pier Francisco from the breakfast, who greeted us in the morning was also very friendly, helpful and attentive. He recognized I was also a colleague from IHG, showed interest, and also questioned if we were enjoying our time and the city :)

The lady from the restaurant (sadly I didn't catch her name), who attended to us on the evening of the 1st of February was very kind and professional. She explained us the courses we were choosing, the wine and also the tiramissu - which shows not only that she knows very well the menu and what she is serving but also that she wanted us to know how the courses we were choosing were made and also how their dishes are different.

Overall couldn't have been a better stay! Will recommend this hotel to everyone who goes to Florence!

Breakfast great. Staff all lovely. Common areas nice and clean. Room clean. Good facilities. Hotel noticed it was my wife's birthday and brought a nice cake out when we were having breakfast - really appreciated the gesture. Housekeeping were great - we didn't need room doing when we were there for 4 nights so just put the DND sign on the door and they respected us and didn't bother us - thank you! Hotel generally quiet - could hear clonking around from the room above but the room was well insulated from noise in corridor or next door rooms. Hotel v helpful with looking after bags when we arrived early, and called to let us know when the room was available. Also upgraded us as were IHG frequent travellers. Everything was spot on 10/10 apart from... THE TEMPERATURE!

BUT - room (429) was insanely uncomfortably hot. I cannot stress how unconfortably hot it was. We had to sleep with no covers on us and were still sweating & couldn't sleep much at all. Really really badly effected our stay. Air conditioning didn't work - was set to HEAT mode in central system and apparently nothing hotel could do other than give us a fan. No note on the thermostat in the room to mention this so even though on arrival we set it to -2 degrees, to cool the room, it turned out it was just pumping out hot air. Asked front desk, they said they would turn off the heat. For the next day the AC fan just didn't work - so I just left it off. Room still insanely hot. Left it that way for rest of trip. This is February, not freezing outside, or hot either. Outside temp was about 14 - not particularly hot or cold. We didn't make a fuss other than ask front desk if our AC was broken - and got a fan for the final of our 4 night stay, helped a bit but was still way too hot - didn't want to make a fuss as was wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary, so I kept a lid on how disappointed & sad about it I was, as did my wife. We had a lovely time in florence regardless, but not the restful sleep we'd hoped for - and is a pretty basic expectation for a decent IHG hotel like this.

I'd recommend the hotel manager spend a night in that room, take a thermometer. Just have a normal functioning AC like you'd expect.

(Had to have window closed at night as room was facing front with road and trams going past. )

Anyway, hotel was lovely apart from that - please sort out your AC system though. If you do please let us know as we WOULD stay again, but not until then. Thanks x
