Stay was great, breakfast was great, rooms were clean.
The rooms and hallways were old and not in a charming old European way. Our room had water stains along the wall and wall paper pealing. Carpet was old with holes in it.
Comfortable, clean, pleasant staff, good choice for breakfast
Shower temperature - cold to Luke warm
Unpleasant smell in the bathroom
Clean comfortable good restaurant
Nothing
Friendly staff, room adequate. Breakfast was very good, liked the continental choice. Nice lounge and bar area. Great location. Attractive spa facilities and swimming pool.
Decor needed updating especially in corridors. Basic offering of tea and coffee, have been supplied with superior drinks tray at more humble hotels. Evening meals in Brasserie were not very appealing or tasty. Cocktails were nice but quite expensive. QR code for hotel information did not link through and so couldn't view menus etc. and there was no printed information.
Lounge, although a very comfortable environment, was rather cold.
Unique hotel, good speedy check in, nice spa facility. Beautiful area.
Could be more breakfast options
The bistro.
Spacious and comfortable public areas. Good quality and reasonably priced evening meal.
Shower in bathroom was lovely.
Room had damp on one wall with wallpaper peeling off in one area which was a shame, as I noticed redecoration taking place in some areas.
The room and the food were excellent
The hotel was shabby and in need of renovation a
Toilet not flushing as 2 years ago in the same room
Bedroom smelt of damp as soon as we walked in
Extractor fan in bathroom extremely noisy
Breakfast was beautiful
The bedrooms are very dated
Plenty of choice
The bathroom was on a lower floor (split level) and the steps down to the bathroom were creaky and noisy. Also, it always took several attempts to flush the toilet.
The gym and spa are very good. The breakfast was pretty good too. The reception, bar and spa staff were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel is a bit dated and in need of a bit of modernisation. The view from the window was of an extraction pipe.
Location excellent , parking , loads of spaces , breakfast , room, pool, staff, check in all good
Everything was as I expected for an older hotel
Nothing
Horrendous Experience – Avoid at All Costs!
I stay in hotels weekly for work, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.
On arrival, I was sent to a room on the fourth floor. The moment I opened the door, I was hit with unbearable heat. I genuinely thought the radiator must have been on, but it wasn’t. There was no air conditioning, no fan and absolutely no ventilation. Sweat was running down my face within minutes.
I went back down to the porter to explain that the room was simply too hot to sleep in and requested to be moved to a lower floor. I was told the hotel was full and “there’s nothing I can do.” He admitted they know how bad the fourth floor gets, which made it even more outrageous they’re fully aware of the issue but still charge £200 a night with no solution in place.
I asked for a refund so I could find another hotel. I was told only management could authorise that. I tried calling around, no luck finding an alternative nearby and I didn’t trust that I’d ever get a refund if I left (and rightly so, since I’m still waiting on a promised call from the manager, two days later).
With no other option, I went back up to try and sleep after already running on little less than 6 hours sleep in two days from my travel. When I moved the bed near the window for any bit of relief, I discovered toe nails and tissues under the bed, clearly the room hadn’t been properly cleaned!
At around 00:23, the porter kindly brought me a fan and a glass of ice water. He was polite and visibly embarrassed by the situation, but it wasn’t his fault management is clearly absent and negligent. Even the shower didn’t work properly the water came out boiling hot with no way to cool it.
After a terrible night with barely two hours of sleep, I checked out just gone 6am. A new staff member greeted me and asked how my stay was. I said “appalling” and asked to speak to the manager. Again, I was deflected, told they’d be in at 9am and would call me. Still no call. No apolo
