I had informed reception that I was treating my partner to a birthday break away and was told room 25 was a beautiful room, all I can say is beauty is in the eye of the beholder! My heart fell when we entered to find heavy dull greeny brown curtains a tall black old fashioned fireplace, not what we were expecting for a 4* hotel. I had perused all the photos on the website showing beautiful bright colourful rooms and was extremely disappointed. We had looked forward to going out for a meal and returning to the hotel for a nightcap, but, not to be, the bar closed at 8.30 p.m!! There was no mention of this in the brochure and had I known I would not have booked this hotel. I will end on the plus points, friendly helpful staff, and a very good cold buffet and cooked breakfast.
Excellent hotel, amazing staff and great food. Very good value for money, with an ideal location for Bowness and the lakeside activities. Highly recommend. Cannot fault, thank you
My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night and we had a lovely time! The staff were super attentive and gave us a warm welcome. The location couldn’t be better and included parking which is handy. The breakfast was incredible and really yummy.
We both would love to stay here again
Stayed for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year. Booked last minute as let down by other accommodation.
Staff and hotel warm and welcoming on arrival. Excellent sized clean and warm room. Breakfast outstanding. Perfect location only short walk to lake and town. Will stay again.
We stayed at Burn How for 2 nights in November, arriving on Saturday evening. We were allocated room 25 on the ground floor and the hotel was busy but given a parking space outside a room that was being refurbished.
The room was a good size, shower over the bath and nice warm radiators. The bed was pretty comfy and the room welcoming, overlooking a garden area.
The location of the hotel is great, about a 5-7 minute walk to the centre of Bowness where there are many pubs, bars and restaurants. The lake is even closer.
Breakfast was very good, and had just about everything as an option.
The staff were lovely and I can’t fault the service and friendliness we received. When in the area again, hopefully when it’s not as wet, we would definitely stay at Burn How again as the location is perfect for exploring the lakes.
Just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Disappointed doesn’t cover it.
Our room was really dated, and screaming out for a refurb.
The carpet hadn’t seen a hoover for goodness knows how long. The dust was thick, the windows disgustingly dirty. Black mould on the patio door.
The duvet cover was about twice the size of the actual duvet.
The towels were never changed for the duration of our stay.
Housekeeping came on our last day, changed the waste bin in the lounge area, put some biscuits out, when we mentioned the dust he went out, came back with a dirty towel and flicked over the furniture.
I did speak to the manageress before we left, and in my opinion she didn’t appear to be surprised.
I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
The breakfast was moderate, presented nicely but that’s about all.
The staff were pleasant, and helpful.
Once again we have nothing to complain about.
The breakfast was fabulous.
The staff were lovely and very helpful.
The room as always was spotless.
We e stayed here a number of times and have never been disappointed. We usually visit early or late in the year . Think we should try May/June as the gardens are beautiful. Must be lovely to sit out in them . We’ve stayed in numerous rooms . The last one being the junior suite. Which was very comfortable.
All the staff are lovely . So friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are fabulous. All cooked to order and plenty of cereals, yoghurts ,fruit etc.
We will be back ☺️
Arrived 24th Oct been to this hotel quite a few times .
Had a great garden room which had been refurbished, very comfy and clean.
Breakfast is lovely and plentiful.
Staff are very nice and always cheerful and helpful.
Definitely be back .
Common areas are excellent, well furnished with views of the gardens. Staff are friendly and professional. Room was a good size. Shower was excellent with quality fittings. Beds comfortable with good bedding. What really let's the room down is the fitted furniture, tired to the extreme, doors not aligned, draws poor, trim missing. Really spoiled our stay not the place you want to go back to at the end of a day. There are so many positives about this place. And yes I know cost has to come into it, but replace the fitted furniture and you have the perfect product.
What a lovely hotel this is.
We had a lovely welcome from the young gentlemen on reception, he also gave us a reduced rate, the weather had been awful but we decided we still wanted to go for the weekend. Our garden room was perfect, right across from reception and we had a double bed and a single for our teenage son. WiFi, tv on the wall, tea and coffee making facilities, plenty of space, a modern bathroom with plenty of fresh towels. Walking distance into Windermere, we do love this part of the UK, this hotel was a new one for us to stay, we will definitely stay here again. Thanks for our wonderful autumn 🍂 stay.
Great location with easy access to the Lake, shops and many places to eat or drink….some with live music. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly and made sure your stay was enjoyable. The breakfasts were lovely with plenty of variety.
Staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. Room was huge with the biggest bed I’ve ever seen. Comfy too. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice. Can’t find anything negative
Second occasion we've stayed at Burn How. Room was very comfortable. Staff were fabulous. Very friendly and helpful, I would say about the best hotel staff we've ever came across.
Food (breakfast) first class. We eat out the rest of the time.
All in all made our break so much more pleasurable. Thank you Burn How!
Stayed for 3 nights and would definitely return. Great location- 5 minutes walk to lakeside and pier area - a further 5 minutes to the shops and restaurants. It is a slight uphill climb back to the hotel from the lakeside
Rooms are chalet style in the grounds so you do have to walk outside from your room to get to the main building for breakfast or to go to the bar / lounge area.
Parking is by each of the individual rooms but a word of warning that depending on your vehicle some of the spaces are quite small.
Many of the rooms are accessed via steps. We had a room on the ground floor of a block of 8 rooms. Lovely room with two double beds and French doors onto a seating area. Only downside was we could hear the people in the room above moving around.
Breakfast- wow. By far the best we have had in a hotel. So much choice for both cold and hot options. Hot options all freshly cooked and beautifully presented.
All staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Bowness
Lovely hotel.
Friendly and helpful staff. We had the family room which was private, spacious and also had a warm cosy feel. Would highly recommend staying at this hotel.
Staff could not do enough for the guests!
Ok
We have stayed here previously but normally in a family room this time we stayed in the main house
Our ground floor room was lovely very comfortable bed and a lovely garden view
The staff are all so friendly and helpful and the breakfast as always was amazing so much to choose from and the cooked breakfast is absolutely fantastic
The gardens are also beautiful and so well cared for lovely spot to relax
Just a few minutes walk to the lake and shops but such a peaceful and quiet place to stay
We (wife and I) stayed at the Burn How garden hotel in Bowness for 3 nghts, staying in room 3 which has free parking for 1 car right outside the room door.
The room is large and very clean,with free wi-fi, flat screen t.v, wardrobe,drawers ,desk,and tea/coffee making(kettle)
The bathroom has a bath/shower combination.
The bed is large and comfortable.
Rooms were cleaned every day,and the staff were very friendly and worked hard to make sure are needs were met.
The room has a patio which overlooks a lovely well maintained garden.
The breakfast was excellent, there was a great selection of fruit, berries, yoghurts, cereals, tea/coffees and the cooked breakfast is made to order.
The hotel is only a 5 min walk to Bowness prom with resturants and bars and water sports.
We would definately stay here again.10/10
