The heritage and uniqueness
I wanted to stay in the main part of the hotel but we were given an upgrade and moved to the neighbouring building
Excellent location in the heart of the city.
Not much to not like.
Die zentrale Lage des Hotels
Die Betten waren hart.
This historic Victorian hotel (some discrete restoration is in progress) offers a colonial hotel experience. The hotel is over 100 years old with functional covered verandah and rooms facing outwards (they have a view) and facing inwards (no real view). The lobby is very welcoming with couches and two open fireplaces which encourage interaction with other guests. The room decor is period (some might call it busy) with wallpaper, etc.
The breakfast buffet was a nice surprise with baked beans, sauteed mushrooms, scrambled and poached eggs, fresh fruit, proper greek yogurt (not ultraprocessed or sweetened), pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, etc.
The spa area consists of 3 small outdoor pools all supplied by a geothermal bore with temperatures varying from very warm to warm, and indoor private pool that must be booked, and a small sauna. Beware-geothermal water has enough sulphur to tarnish silver (but not gold) rapidly so my advice is to remove jewellery.
There is a nice lakeside walk nearby.
The spa does not have a shower and bathrobes must be requested at the front desk (there are none in the room). Rooms are upstairs and there is no lift - the hotel is over 100 years old - but the friendly staff will help.

Nothing in particular
Beautiful old hotel.
Nothing as such. Can see that the exterior will need some maintenance at the back. Bathroom too needs updating.
The main building is stunning and the apartments in the adjacent building are really spacious
