Never again
Pros:

The new Duty Manager, Kelvin is the best thing about this hotel.
We booked for 3 nights in Jan - Thursday - Sunday.
Thursday night we were unable to get to sleep due to a 12 month construction contract (effective from Spring 2025) taking place on the road outside - something that wasn’t mentioned anywhere when booking, despite both Cork County & the construction company involved publishing articles on their respective websites outlining the works - a quick google search was all it took to find this out. We called down to reception at 10pm, after a long day of travelling to ask how long the construction noise would continue into the night and was advised by the receptionist that it would be best to move rooms.

The new keycard took over 15 minutes to arrive and once we’d found the new room ourselves, the keycard did not work. I went to Reception to have it activated which Kelvin did promptly. In the interim, the receptionist who had initially suggested we move rooms, appeared and informed me she was of the opinion I was privileged, spoiled and that she “didn’t give one sh*t about my problems”. When I asked for her name to make complaint regarding her language, she tore her name badge off its pin and threw it at me across the desk - Kateryna. She justified this behaviour by telling me she was having a panic attack. She continued in this threatening manner until I called the Garda.
We were greeted in the new room by heavy bass playing from the hotel restaurant below, but I was so fed up at this point, I didn’t see the point in returning downstairs to ask that this be turned down. The music went off at 11.30pm but was back on again at 7.30am Friday morning.
Same issue with the music on Friday night. But again, it was turned off at 11.30pm.
Fast forward to Saturday night and the music continued past 1am. I went downstairs to ask the night porter where it was coming from. There appeared to be some sort of lock-in / staff social happening in the restaurant. He advised me that the music was from the restaurant and he would turn it off. At 2am the music could still be heard from our room on the first floor. I used my booking app to message the hotel and follow up on my conversation with the night porter an hour earlier. This message was ignored despite me having received prompt responses from using this messaging feature prior to our arrival. The restaurant eventually went quiet around 3am (the website states food service stops at 9.30pm and the bar closes at 11.30pm). Music back on at the original volume at 8am Sunday morning.
Furniture was moved around every night and could be heard being scraped across floors. Kelvin did arrange a complimentary dinner in the hotel restaurant for us following the issues on Thursday night but in short, I would not stay here again, nor could I recommend it to anyone. I would be grateful if management would contact me to discuss a refund.

Pros:

We recently had a family dinner at The Address Hotel Cork and it was a really lovely experience. The food was excellent well cooked generous and enjoyed by everyone at the table. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, perfect for a family night out.
A special mention to Megan who looked after us. We had a few very demanding children and the poor girl was run off her feet, but she handled everything with patience, professionalism, and a smile. Nothing was too much trouble.
We’ll definitely be back and would happily recommend North to anyone looking for great food and genuinely good service in Cork.

Work Christmas Party
Pros:

We were attending our work Christmas Party in the Bell Room and there were over a hundred of us. It was our first time hosting our party there and we honestly had a fantastic night. The food was amazing, and the dinner and party setup with the music and drinks worked perfectly.

The room felt warm and welcoming and the managers were so attentive throughout the service, which really made a difference when you’re looking after a big group. We will definitely be recommending it to friends and family and I’ll be pushing to have our party there again next year.

Terrible experience - avoid
Pros:

We had a reservation in the North Bar at The Address in St Luke’s that was booked months in advance for our annual Christmas get-together - a group of 16 people. When booking over the phone, reception told me we could come in to view the setup to ensure there was enough space. I went up immediately and was shown a lovely snug area, which they said was typically used for larger bookings. It was perfect for our group, so I confirmed the booking and paid a €160 deposit.

Fast forward to last night. When we arrived, instead of the snug, we were shown a long line of small tables pushed together beside a fire escape. We immediately noticed that three people, not part of our party, were already seated in the snug. I raised this with who I believe was the bar manager, but she was not helpful. She said that when she arrived, the tables were already set up like this and that it hadn’t been specified on the booking that we wanted the snug - despite this being explicitly discussed when booking.

We asked if we could move into the snug once the other group finished, as it looked like they were nearly done (they left about 20 minutes later). Given the size of our group, the snug would have allowed us to actually enjoy the evening and speak to one another. A few minutes later she returned and said no - her boss had said it wasn’t mentioned in the booking, so it wasn’t possible. She then asked, “Is that okay?” - as if we had any real alternative. A very poor start to the evening.

Once our full party arrived, we tried to make the best of it. The waiter took our drinks order - three cocktails, the rest beers and soft drinks - but we didn’t see those drinks for 30 minutes. Eventually, some people gave up, went to the bar, and were served immediately by the same bartender who was meant to be preparing our order. Water was also an issue: two jugs were placed on the table and never refilled.

When the food arrived, it only made things worse. Portions were very small and the quality was poor. The pizza genuinely tasted like a frozen supermarket pizza thrown into the oven. Steak dishes arrived without sauce, which came about 10 minutes later - long after most people had already eaten their steak. One curry dish had no vegetables at all, just meat, sauce, and rice. The “truffle fries” were particularly bad - essentially plain fries with a light sprinkle of cheese. Overall, the food was dreadful. Out of 16 people, the vast majority were unhappy.

We had hoped to stay on for drinks, but decided instead to ask for the bill as soon as everyone finished eating and went elsewhere to salvage the night.

On the way out, reception asked about our experience and we were honest. We also overheard another group voicing similar complaints, which says a lot.

This was a real disappointment. We’re local to the area and had been looking forward to trying The Address - a place we’ve walked past countless times.

Unfortunately, our once-a-year Christmas get-together ended up being memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Afternoon tea was a huge disappointment
Pros:

Booked afternoon tea for 11 people at €32.50 pp it was extremely underwhelming. The restaurant setting was lovely the area we were given was also nice. The staff we welcoming and friendly. The cutlery and tea cups were stained but nothing major. The food was a massive let down. The menu online was completely different to what we received. We received sandwiches with old stale bread that was probably unused from breakfast that morning with plastic cheese and cheap deli ham. They looked like they were prepared by a school canteen lady. Thrown on the plate. The sweet treats weren’t any better. The place was not busy either. The manager was very apologetic after we complained which was nice of him to admit it wasn’t up to the standard he expects. Would not at all recommend here for afternoon tea unless something drastic changes.

Avoid North restaurant
Pros:

Hotel is in a beautiful setting and a beautiful building. However experience in the North restaurant has been poor over the past 12 months. In recent months staff appear under pressure and food is very average. Also staff are constantly pushing trollies of used plates and cutlery and left overs from another part of the hotel through the North restaurant which is unprofessional and sloppy. Sometimes there are even slop buckets on these trollies passing through the restaurant as you are eating. Staff are also in and out getting their own lunches from the kitchen. Eating in this restaurant is far from a pleasant experience. Attention to detail is poor and trollies of dirty plates and slop buckets passing you as you eat every 5 minutes demonstrates a lack of customer first approach in terms of giving a pleasant eating experience. This really needs to be addressed. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Worst meal ever, by some stretch.
Pros:

It is hard to overstate how absolutely foul the food was. 3 awful courses of inedible cold food. I have never eaten such vile dried out fish. Shame on the kitchen for sending out fish that looked and tasted as if it had been sitting under lights for two days.
Service was very pleasant but completely inexperienced.
The decor is lovely as is the building, but the foulness of the food means I wouldn't darken the place again.
A complete PR disaster for the hotel for those that attended.
Such a pity in such a lovely building in a great setting, that the kitchen is abysmal.

The Address Hotel
Pros:

The food was average and took forever. What made our evening amazing was the service of Killian on the floor and Amy behind the bar. 5 stars for that service alone!

Beautiful and charming Victorian Building
Pros:

Beautiful and charming Victorian building! My partner and I booked a room for Cork Jazz/ graduation.. upon arrival we were kindly upgraded to the Bridal Suite. The room was gorgeous, comfortable bed with great views of the city. Would highly recommend, only a 15 minute walk into town. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the cocktails in the bar were very enjoyable!

Stylish Stay with Scenic Views in Cork
Pros:

My mom and I were blown away by the beauty and charm of this hotel, perched atop a hill in the St. Luke's neighborhood with sweeping views over Cork City. We were fascinated to learn that the building once served as both a convent and a hospital, which added a unique sense of history and charm to our stay.

Our room exceeded expectations—spacious, nicely decorated, with a large bathroom and a balcony offering stunning views of the city. The interior design throughout the hotel was elegant and thoughtfully curated.

However, there were a few downsides worth noting. The rooms lacked centralized air conditioning, so we had to sleep with the windows open for ventilation. The TV in our room was also quite small and didn’t work properly during our two-night stay. Additionally, the front desk staff weren’t particularly warm or welcoming—unlike most places, we weren’t greeted upon arrival or approached unless we initiated conversation ourselves.

That said, the on-site bar was cozy and stylish, and the bar and restaurant staff were notably friendly and attentive, which made up for the otherwise reserved service.

Pros:

Hotel lobby was great but the room smelt of damp and musty, couldn’t open the windows due to being above the kitchen and the vent noise. No hot water in the morning to shower! Disappointed as the hotel is large and looks great from the front. Staff were pleasant.

Pros:

Would stay again but definitely wouldn’t eat here - Clean modern and comfortable rooms with easy parking! But North restaurant poor at both dinner and breakfast. Food was ok but dinner front of house staff were dreadful, very poorly organised, slow, rude and kept forgetting what had been asked or what they were supposed to be doing. At breakfast, options for food were very low and very limited with lots of items running out and not being replenished, even when asked if there was more available.

Don't bother.
Pros:

The hotel looked fantastic, but the entire place had the smell of carpet freshener, which was inescapable.
The room has no air conditioner and there is no bar fridge to keep my recently pruchased juice cool. My companion and I visited the restaurant where there were approximately 15 other patrons to be advised that there would be a 30-minute delay for food. I enquired why there is a delay when only 15 patrons are in the restaurant and was advised that there are fewer staff working today.
We were given a menu, and the waiter left our table.
After an extended delay, my companion left the restaurant, saying they couldn't be bothered waiting. Patrons who arrived after me were being served, and when I asked if I could please order, the staff said they assumed I had already been assisted. I ordered a pizza and a glass of wine, and I then waited considerable time for my drink to be served.
Approximately one hour after arriving at the restaurant, my meal was delivered.
The pizza was very tasty, but the experience left a very bad taste!

Pros:

Hotel was in a good location, hotel was charming. First night dinner was excellent. Next morning breakfast and service was terrible (1 out of 5 the most). Food selection was non existent, took the staff forever to refill the buffet and staff looked like they wanted to be somewhere else, definitely not friendly. Would not do that breakfast inclusion again.
