Pros:

Mixed bag. Initially, staff was rude, and then later became nice once I stood my ground. Everything is reasonably priced, and a reasonable value. Restaurant is above average. They must have small margins because they are a bit stingy. Staff was very helpful to me, calling taxis and getting me tour guides and such. Of course I paid for these services. All in all, I would probably stay again, now that I understand the property better. However, if you want something fairly nice, then look around. This property was under major renovation when I was there, and the noise was skull-crushing --- and right outside my hotel room.

Pros:

I was on an extensive journey around India and stayed at numerous hotels in numerous cities. Shree Ganesha Residency was definitely my favorite. The hotel is very conveniently close to Dashashwamedh Ghat and Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. While it's on the main street of Varanasi, the hotel is hidden away enough for quite and comfort. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The common area is beautiful and spacious. The restaurant 1916 is wonderful the food is excellent and safe. The staff is friendly and courteous and made me feel welcomed. During my stay I became ill with food poisoning (at a different place outside Varanasi) and the staff was helpful and caring after my hospital stay. I plan to return to Varanasi and I will definitely stay at Shree Ganesha Residency again.

Pros:

Stayed for three nights at Shree Ganesha Residency. It was a great and comfortable stay. High five to all the staff! Prime location and walkable to all the ghats and temples including Kashi Vishwanath. Prime location for awesome Benarasi food and delicacies and shopping. 5 stars!!!
