Visited the hotel for a pre-booked Sunday lunch. The menu offered 2 or 3 courses.
My husband and I enjoyed the latter.
We were made to feel very welcome , the staff were very smart, polite and attentive.
We had drinks at the bar as we were a little early .
The restaurant was very festive with Christmas music playing in the background.
Our starters were of a good standard, my husband had home made vegetable soup and bread , which he enjoyed . I had hosin duck with salad dressing, it was perfect, very tender..
We both chose the festive turkey and trimmings , vegetables were cooked to perfection and the cauliflower cheese was delicious.
We both had pudding , sticky toffee sponge with ice-cream for my husband and apple pie and custard for myself . The pie was perfect , full of sliced apples and the pastry the best I had sampled !
Thank you for a very pleasant meal , we shall return !
Had the most delicious afternoon tea.
This was a gift for my wife’s birthday and the experience was great from the moment we arrived.
The staff were friendly and restaurant where the tea was served was decked out with Christmas decorations and Christmas crackers on the table.
The selection of sandwiches was for every taste. The cakes was the most delicious verity.
All in all a great experience.
This place has gone downhill. I recently booked a 3 course meal through Groupon, and had a dreadful experience with the reception staff. Initially they (the reception staff not groupon) cancelled the booking, then after telephoning they said customer bookings are honoured but customers need to telephone in. Then another person lost the diary and booking so wanted me to email him my original booking. On the third occasion all I got was grief while the man complained at Groupon and blamed everyone else but himself. Apparently they are losing money on every booking, so dont want any customers. Its a ridiculous situation and just terrible to have poor customer service like this. I really feel for the staff but they do need to get things sorted out with Groupon.
Went for Sunday dinner on a groupon deal, very nice and staff were very good, all 3 courses were lovely especially for the price we paid,Beautiful place
A memorable 80th birthday celebration lunch on Remembrance Sunday at this historic hotel. From the warm welcome to the final farewell, everything was excellent.
Special mention of the chef. A treasure, indeed. The food was an imaginative twist on classic quality.
A surprise song chorus and birthday treat from all the staff made the day extra special.
We booked a groupon for 3 course sunday lunch for 4 people including a drink at a bargin price ( less than £20pp) . Beautiful venue, very attentive and friendly staff. We had wine , ham hock terrine, roast beef with all trimmings and apple crumble . Menu a little different to advertised on groupon but we were still happy. A real bargin for what we paid and we would certainly go back on the same deal. My only slight niggle was the main course could have been a little hotter. Even so highly reccomended.
Had an afternoon tea here. Very nicely presented and a good selection. Good parking on the front . Nothing was too much trouble and the owner had a conversation with us after our tea. Very interesting . We would return .
It all sounded lovely. A private room with own entrance. Bar and restaurant facilities. We entered the car park which looked like a secondhand car showroom as so many cars for sale. There was a vehicle parked directly in front of the entrance to the courtyard which was where we were put with the number plate UW1ANKER. Not nice!! We received a text with a code to get us into the front door of the two units where we were located where we found our key in the door (as told). There was a small dollop of dog poo just to the right of the door. We entered the room which reeked of mustiness and damp and found a tin of roll up cigarettes on the floor. The bed, whilst clean, felt damp and the bed itself was so uncomfortable. Every time you turned over you got a spring up your rear end. I wouldn't use the shower as I thought I would come out dirtier than when I went in - full of black mould literally from top to bottom. We were unable to get replenishment of any hot drink sachets as the reception was closed. In fact, for the whole of our two nights stay we didn't see any member of staff at all. All in all a very unpleasant experience which we won't be doing again.
Nice selection of sandwiches and cakes, very nice seating area and attentive staff with nothing too much for the customers needs.
A very pleasurable way to send a Thursday afternoon sat in the bay window enjoying afternoon tea here at the Donington Manor, one of the best I have had. Many thanks to James and his team for making us welcome, we will be back.
Wunderschön.
Nah bei Donington Rennstrecke
A very pleasurable way to spend a Thursday afternoon, sat in the front bay window at the Donnington Manor for afternoon tea, one of the best I’v had. Many thanks to Mark and his staff for making us welcome and the service provided. We will return.
An enjoyable afternoon tea for two. Nice food, well presented. Lovely selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. I recommend it.
We were sent a text
Very good staff and provide quick response when dealing with an issue.
Good place and l would stay there again
This was the 4th time I have stayed at the Donnington Manor whilst attending events at the nearby Race Circuit.
It really fits the bill for what I need, just 5 miles from the circuit, good parking, and despite a big party on at the hotel during my stay, my room was really quiet.
Afternoon tea for my husband and I today 1 august 2025 ! It was awful ! It was an anniversary gift ! The sanwiches were out of the freezer , cold limp lettuce leaves tasteless tomatoes , cakes still partially frozen ! 2 scones that were partially frozen no clotted cream just jam and whipped cream ! We had to ask for our Prosecco nobody offered more tea or even hot water ! My husband did eat it as he was very hungry but I’ve worked in catering most of my life and I would never serve anything so bad ! Very very disappointed we won’t be returning Thats for sure ! Staff need training on how to greet and serve customers ! Worst afternoon tea ever
