Beautiful castle with tons of places to explore. This was my second time here, and I’ll definitely come again. It’s also close to Bacharach and St Goar which are great areas to explore as well.

What an awesome location high above the Rhine and the town of Oberwesel, and what a wonderful hotel in a large historic castle. The views were astonishing, the rooms were luxurious and full of history and antiques, the food was excellent. The hike to and from the town was refreshing, and there are lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore, including the historic tower. If you've always wanted to stay in a castle on the Rhine, this is the perfect place.
Everything was 10/10 from the beginning in terms of the staff: the wonderful concierge at the reception who showed us our room, the friendly servers in the restaurant, the helpful women in the breakfast room. We even got a very thoughful present for our wedding anniversary! No detail was forgotten in terms of style and ambience. You are greeted with a carafe of sherry, apples and a Mozart chocolate when you enter your room. It was extremely clean and there are enough towels, even bathrobes and house slippers are available.
The only problem was, and this was perhaps particular to our room, is that it was quite small and next to some heating pipes in the wall. With the windows closed it became extremely stuffy and hot in the room, so we had to sleep with the windows slightly opened, causing a constant draft. Also the fan of the elevator next to the room in the hallway could be heard througout the night so if you are a light sleeper, it might not be optimal.
Special experience. Staff amazing. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Old castle implies somewhat less facility of movement within the lodging (double bed agains a wall on one side, at night one needs to climb over the other, a bit tricky for elderly people). Overall experience absolutely worthwhile. Highly recommended.
While traveling there are some places that call you back to see them. This beautiful castle lodging is one of them. We hope to see you soon again and loved everyone who’s helped us there!!
Stunning views. Service was amazing. Sauna in the room was a lovely bonus-we used it every day. Restaurants on site were both wonderful. We ate there most evenings.

The castle and the surrounding gardens were incredible. Little nooks and crannies everywhere you look…terraces and balconies galore…libraries and period furniture pieces accentuated the mood..
Liebevoll eingerichtetes Zimmer, sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal, insgesamt ein wunderschönes Ambiente und natürlich eine traumhafte Aussicht.
