The location was good, and the portion size of the ackee and saltfish was generous. The weather during the stay was fantastic, and the bed was comfortable. Some of the staff were also great and very pleasant.
A few bottles of water in the fridge would have been welcoming!
Being double-charged for food was already frustrating, and I actually had to challenge the staff about an overcharged bill that I recognised myself, which makes me wonder how many other bills may also have been incorrect. I completely understand that we are living in a cost-of-living crisis, but paying almost $1000 and then being served something as basic as a burnt fried egg was just terrible. What made the experience even worse was how a member of staff treated my child. A woman there made my child feel manipulated and inferior, to the point that my child did not want to return to the restaurant because they were afraid of being pestered again about bill payments. That was extremely disappointing and completely unacceptable.
The cleanliness of the room was also poor. The bath had not been cleaned properly at all. Even after this was reported to the front desk, the staff member who came to clean it simply wiped a rag up and down quickly and left. The dirt around the bath was still clearly visible afterwards.
Considering the hotel knew the room was going to be occupied for seven days, you would expect it to be properly cleaned and fully up to standard before guests arrive. Unfortunately, that did not seem to be the case.
The food overall was average at best. It wasn’t the worst, but it certainly wasn’t great either. The bacon was burnt almost every morning, and some of the food lacked flavour. A dish that actually had good taste was the ackee and saltfish, which was only available once during our stay.
The bathroom door was also very inconvenient. Instead of a normal hinged door, it was a heavy sliding door on a rail that had to be pushed back and forth. It frequently got stuck, especially when you were inside the bathroom, and you had to push it outward quite forcefully to get out. A standard door would have made far more sense.
Finally, the room clearly had not been dusted properly. There were cobwebs floating in the corners. A part refund would be appropriate.

This was my husband and me first time staying at Toby's Resort in Montego Bay. Our experience was a great one, we were extremely pleased with the service. We checked in on Sunday 3/1/2026 and was met by a super pleasant associate by the name of Tradeshia (I am sorry if I spelt your name incorrectly.) Dealing with her gave us a relaxed and welcoming feeling. She was very helpful, pleasant and polite. The 2 managers that we communicated with were Exceptional! Allicin and Charlene caused us to say "Yes"to returning to Toby's ☺️🥰. Thank you ladies for your help in making our visit a wonderful visit.
We went to their restaurant everyday we were there and met the absolute Best server! His name is Worrel. We LOVE! Worrel. He served us Sunday straight through to Wednesday, but he was off on our last day. He is Amazing! Extremely professional, kind and attentive. Oh my goodness, what excellent service he gave. We plan on returning in July and hope to see all of the Wonderful employees that we encountered on this our first visit.
We are Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton members, so we were wondering how is this place going to be. Well, they did not disappoint. The room was clean, they supplied everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and the hotel is a safe place to stay.
I agree that the furniture in the room needs to be upgraded, but if that's my
only complaint, then I have no reason to complain. Our housekeeper Juliet provided us with excellent service. Our room was cleaned every day.
Need a place to stay? Please consider Toby's Resort, it is clean and safe. If you are like us, staying in certain hotels is not our cup of tea. But! Toby's did not disappoint. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We'll be back.
