PROTEA HOTEL BY MARRIOTT STELLENBOSCH ANNOUNCES EXCITING ADDITIONS TO THEIR CONFERENCE FACILITIES

On 29 May 2023, Protea Hotel by Marriott Stellenbosch will break ground on an ambitious construction project that will add two new conference venues and a new executive suite to their existing conference offering.
There are already several compelling reasons why Cape Town is the #1 Convention City in Africa and why the Winelands, in particular, draws thousands of conference delegates every year, surrounded as it is by picturesque vineyards, rich heritage, gourmet cuisine and majestic mountains all within an hour’s drive from Cape Town city center. Now, there is one more.
“When our new additional conference areas are complete,” General Manager, Deleur Stander, reported, “we will have a total of 1500m2 of conference and exhibition space, making us the largest conference and exhibition facility in the Winelands … and this excludes our public spaces.”
The hotel currently offers 7 conference venues, 4 executive suites and 176 apartment style rooms. With the completion of this project in September, there
will be an additional 450m2 of meeting and exhibition space, an additional executive suite, bringing the total number of suites to 5, as well as beautiful new bathroom facilities. All of this will be undertaken by Isipani Construction, headquartered in Paarl.
At the same time, the Cultivar Restaurant is being refreshed, redesigned, and refurbished.
In addition, Protea Hotel by Marriott Stellenbosch, continues to pursue its Earth-friendly policy through the installation of 489 solar panels on the extended roof and carports, generating 322kw of energy which represents a saving of 341 metric tons of CO2 annually. The solar project will be undertaken by Viridis Ipsum Green Technologies.
During the construction period, the conference facilities at Protea Hotel by Marriott Stellenbosch will be closed, but rooms and Die Wingerd restaurant will largely operate as usual.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.

ESTÁDIA ÓTIMA, POLÍTICA COMERCIAL INACEITÁVEL E ABUSIVA
Pros:

O Protea Hotel Stellenbosch tem qualidades inegáveis. As instalações são amplas, bem conservadas e com acabamento de qualidade, transmitindo um ambiente agradável e sofisticado sem ser excessivamente formal — ideal para famílias. Os quartos merecem destaque especial: espaçosos, extremamente limpos e com mobiliário novo e em perfeito estado. O café da manhã é farto e variado, com opções quentes e frias em abundância, adequado tanto para adultos quanto para crianças. A equipe de atendimento, de modo geral, é simpática e demonstra disposição para ajudar.

Cons:

Ocorreu um problema grave que não posso ignorar: o hotel exigiu a reserva de 02 (dois) quartos para uma família composta por dois adultos e dois filhos de 3 e 4 anos — crianças pequenas que dormem com os pais. Não há como justificar essa exigência. Ela serve única e exclusivamente ao interesse comercial do estabelecimento, sem qualquer benefício real para o hóspede.

Ao chegar, a equipe percebeu o absurdo da situação e concedeu um upgrade nos dois quartos — gesto simpático, mas que não resolveu absolutamente nada. Um quarto melhor que não será utilizado continua sendo um quarto pago desnecessariamente. O upgrade foi, na prática, um enfeite em cima de um problema que o próprio hotel criou.

A proposta de compensação apresentada posteriormente foi igualmente decepcionante: a devolução de metade de uma diária, em uma estadia de duas noites — o equivalente a apenas 25% do valor total cobrado indevidamente. Em outras palavras, o hotel reconheceu o problema, mas optou por reter 75% de um valor que jamais deveria ter sido cobrado. Uma política justa seria o reembolso integral do segundo quarto.

A compensação oferecida é simbólica e demonstra que o hotel prioriza sua receita em detrimento da satisfação real do hóspede. Recomendo fortemente que famílias pesquisem a fundo as políticas de ocupação antes de reservar.
