Spacious and clean!
The room was not vacuumed, there was a roach in the shower, furniture was missing trim, the toilet seat was dirty, the room smelled, and there was no hot water in the shower. I did not enjoy the stay.
Do better with the breakfast area. It wasn't clean like it should. You know you're getting heavy traffic so adjust accordingly. Overall, I would come back.
Location was good.
I paid booking.com but the hotel has no record of it. I would like a refund.
Location of hotel was excellent
Entering hotel room, the tv was already turned on with the volume on. That seemed rather odd, turns out, the only way to turn off the tv was to unplug it.
No shower curtain. At all.
When I took these issues to the front desk, I was informed that they’d make a note of it. And that was it.
Room was clean
Pool was ice cold, we could not get in. Gym was closed for maintenance. Breakfast was not good, there were only a few items. I asked for cream cheese as they were out, they said we don't have anymore.
DO NOT STAY HERE. The only thing “decent” about this “hotel” is the location since we were going to Busch Gardens.
It is falsely advertised as a “newly renovated hotel with fitness amenities and hot buffet breakfast”. Upon arrival to check in, we asked about breakfast and were told that the kitchen is “currently” being renovated and that there is no stove so grab and go breakfast would be placed in lobby. In addition, when asked about the mentioned fitness facility we were also told “it was under renovation”. Communication to guests would have been the ethical and professional step to take to inform them that the hotel is “under renovation”.
I wish this is where the red flags and disappointment ended. After leaving reception area, it was apparent from musty smells, trash filled hallways/elevator and the dirt on the floors, that it was not being renovated let alone managed properly. It did not look like it was ever cleaned. We were given three different rooms before we found one that we could stay in since we arrived at night time. After unpacking, I went to use the bathroom in the room for the first time and there were tiny, curly black hairs all over the toilet seat. The carpets were disgusting and the tubs felt like there was sand in it. Not to mention, there is a train that is right next to this hotel that runs throughout the night.
We only initially booked it given the advertisement and it is in an inclusion package with Busch Gardens. I regret booking this hotel and urge others to stay clear of this hotel.
Breakfast was fine. Dining facility looked very tired and had a bad layout with beverages in a separate room from the food. Strange
First, I am reviewing this place for what it is. A budget hotel. I paid $70 a night for 1 night mid week stay In April. Im not taking off stars for chipped paint, outdated look, scratched surfaces. I dont care about that when I book a budget hotel.
The place was clean, bed was comfy, took had soap, shampoo, conditioner, plenty of towels. I didn't use the microwave or fridge, but it was there. Only complaint was that the tub was slow to drain.
The front desk kindly kept the pool open later so my kids could swim since we arrived at 9:30- huge bonus for us! Pool was large, enclosed, but detached from the main building. No pool towels were left, but I went to the front desk and they gave more. Pool was very cold- not heated, but my kids dont care about that. Plenty of seating.
Breakfast was very basic. Not a hot breakfast, but toast, muffins, bagles, cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs and fruit. It was fine, but im not picky and usually eat oatmeal for hotel breakfast anyhow. The "resturant" area was a little creepy looking because it seemed abandoned and it had a weird smell.
So, I would honestly stay here again because the price was right and I just need somewhere clean to sleep.
Location, price, quiet.
The condition of the hotel shows wear and tear not attended too. Th “breakfast” was of poor quality.
Don't trust what you see for their online descriptions and photos. There is no restaurant and bar. The last 2 mornings, there was no breakfast. The ice machine on the 1st floor didn't work. It took forever to get hot water. As a handicap, they had put me on the 2nd floor way at the back of the hotel causing major walking and no walk-in shower as requested.
The worst hotel we've ever stayed in. My husband and I just spent two nights here this past weekend. Room 321. We are very easy-going people and never post negative reviews. BUT this was the most dingy and inhospitable experience we've had at any hotel and we've stayed in most of the Williamsburg hotels.
To start, upon arriving in our hotel room, the tv wouldn't turn on. After several visits to the front desk, we found out the remote needed new batteries. Not a huge deal, but just annoying to have to deal with to start our stay. The room was very cramped, old, outdated and not very clean. There was trash still in the trash can from the previous guests! Peeling paint and many stains on doors and walls. You have to bump into the toilet to get out of the shower and to close the bathroom door. The shower was obviously clogged because the water wouldn't drain so you were in about 2 feet of nasty standing water while showering. There was mold on the shower fan.
Another concerning thing to me was that we never ever saw even one housekeeper the entire 2 day stay! At most hotels you're constantly bumping into housekeepers in the hallways or elevators. When we showed up for breakfast in the morning, they just said there's no breakfast today. No breakfast both days we were there without any explanation why. That's included in the cost of the hotel, you can't just decide there's no breakfast! There were a few muffins, bagels and some juice sitting out on a table in the lobby(which does not seem sanitary to me), that was it.
The mattresses are very thin, springy and old, and the pillows are lumpy. The sheets had stains on them. The floors in the lobby looked very dirty with many stains. The pool was super old and dodgy looking; I wouldn't use it despite bringing my bathing suit and hoping to swim. The fitness room was also closed which we had hoped to use during our stay.
Honestly the ONLY good thing about this hotel(and the reason we took a chance on it, despite all the negative reviews) is the close proximity to Colonial Williamsburg- it is within walking distance.
We will never be staying here again. Avoid this place like the plague!
HI we attended an event here and we were all pleased with this hotel. The lobby was very inviting with lots of room to sit and talk. The front desk personnel were very friendly and when I requested some items for my room those were delivered promptly. This hotel really is within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg and we enjoyed going over there at all times of the day. The breakfast was great and there was ample room for us even though there were teams in town as well. This hotel has a much larger pool than you usually see these days which I very much appreciated. This location puts you very close to all of the attractions in the area and it was usually no more than 10 minutes to where we wanted to go. I would stay here again.
Our room was invaded by another guest in the middle of the night. When I asked how did this happen the man simply said im sorry ma'am. That apology doesn't cover my kids lives or mine as I am pregnant with twins. I have never been so scared to sleep in a hotel after this experience. None of the exit doors are locked so it could of been anyone that came into rooms amd not to mention my daughter woke screaming get out because of nightmares. I am still waiting on the refund that was noted on my paperwork the next morning. Be cautious and make sure you lock the top locks if staying here. I only got 3 hours of sleep staying here because I was scared to go back to sleep. Completely unacceptable.
Staff location cleanliness comfortable the dining room atmosphere
There was nothing we did not like although there was a small drip of water under the countertop in the bathroom but it did not disturb or bother or put anything at risk
