We were lucky to have one of the refurbished rooms which was so lovely. Everything was clean, tidy and beautifully presented. The bathroom had both a bath and a shower and was quite spacious. We had some bar food and a drink which was nice and the gent behind the bar was very friendly and chatty.
This is a very old building which I think adds to its charm. It is going through a renovation to put new life into an old building. The only improvement I think would be to the breakfast service. The staff were great and the food was lovely (and a great variety too) but the lids that you have to take off to access the food was troublesome and frustrating. If you were staying on your own you would struggle as there is nowhere to put the lid down to then use the utensil to pick up the breakfast item whilst holding your plate. It would be advantageous to have a hinged serving plate. The serving area seemed way too small for the restaurant area and covers.
all in all it was a lovely stay and I would return.
We had a very comfortable stay , the rooms are decorated to a high standard and the bathroom is incredibly clean.
We are dinner in the restaurant , the food was of a good quality and value for money.
Breakfast was ok.
Caring staff
Food options were ok but no steak which was a shame. It was the first night for a new waitress, my girlfriend and I found the little bold man who was front of house quite patronising and loud in front on guests. Completely uncalled for and unprofessional
Its a noce hotel, located in a historic building with beautiful surroundings. The room rates are also quite friendly
Property probably about 1910 to 1920. Very good condition. Looks and feels well maintained.
Staff excellent. Very friendly.
Food very good although Chicken Parmesan at dinner far too big a portion.
Loved our stay. We will go back.
John and Felicity Allen.
We loved the hotel
Unfortunately put in a room with other rooms being refurbished. Arrived after 4hour journey needed to rest but consistent banging and drilling which did not stop until just before 6pm although notice said work being done between 9 -5 pm. We seemed to be the only ones occupying a room in this section of hotel wasn’t told when we booked. Not one to make a fuss but felt like the poor relations!
Excellent hotel, staff and facilities and would highly recommend this hotel. Well done to all.
Nice property with spacious pub and garden outside the dinning area. The kitchen supplies meal and I think the price is fair with the qualities. We had dined in hotel restaurant for two nights.
Beautiful location and the Hotel was well run with friendly staff and in very good condition clean and large rooms. It was great value for money with a spacious Bar and Dining area with a well kept garden for sitting outside. Station close by and only a short trip to the beautiful Guilford
We, my son and grandson, had a lovely evening and stay, meal and service was great, friendly staff. Family room was excellent, very spacious and comfy beds.
Both the Hotel and restaurant were very nice. The room was clean and beds were comfy but I personally didn’t like the pillows and the carpet was threadbare in places.. some of the furniture and bathroom fittings had seen better days so definitely not top marks. Restaurant and bar were great and the food was excellent. Parking was easy so that was a bonus.
Nice hotel
Comfortable room cleanliness excellent although we had a chipped bathroom sink the plumbing was noisy .
The cooked breakfast was good. The selection of fruit was limited and no brown bread or rolls .
We were offered a room change but as we had settled into our room and it was late we decided not to move. I think the room should have been checked prior to our arrival.
Perfect stay after a night at the Opera at West Horsley Place - would use again.
It was a very good hotel . All the staff that we came across were very, very helpful cannot fault this hotel
Beautiful is a short word to describe the hotel. We really loved it, a little far from the city (40min by train) but it's totally worth it. In fact, it is the perfect opportunity to get to know the "non-tourist" part of the city. We would definitely return!
Room was spacious and had all the essentials needed. Especially grateful for the fan this weekend as it’s been warm. Would have liked to have been able to open the windows wider but understand they are restricted for safety reasons. Bed was very comfortable had 2 great nights sleep. Food was lovely, we had breakfast included all very fresh and lovely quality. Prawn risotto was amazing! Hotel is beautiful inside and outside. All members of staff polite and lovely. I would stay again.
.
A very friendly and welcoming check-in. Room was a nice size and clean. All the staff were attentive and the food was very nice as well.
