This place is terrible!!!!! Do not stay here , the WiFi doesn’t work , the bathroom had stains and the food is terrible 1 star
This hotel is very noisy, the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbours conversation and t TV sets blaring away.
Also noise from outside until 1 a.m. making sleep impossible, such a pity because the food was nice and the staff were friendly but I still couldn't recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday, I left after a week feeling absolutely shattered and desperate for a good night's sleep!
We came here for a family holiday I was worried after reading the reviews but the hotel is clean and tidy the rooms are cleaned every day staff are friendly you close to all shops which is great we had a pool view you do hear entertainment at night time but you will if you are roomed next to the entertainment hotel is dated but it’s clean tidy it does not smell what so ever as some people have said so please take no notice of the negative reviews the hotel wouldn’t be packed if it was as bad as what people are making it out to be so book this hotel and enjoy your holiday
Overall this hotel was very poor the food was of standard the rooms will not equate with the basics of a holiday I will definitely not recommend this your families are couples who are traveling holiday
Rooms are fine. Beds are comfortable . Walls are paper thin you can hear everything. Food is average. € 10 euro for 30 minute sauna is robbery
Worst hotel i have had the misfortune to visit and I was a construction contractor. Full of drunk teenagers. The place is filthy and it's right on a busy road. The staff are very rude and unhelpful, we stayed one night and that was only because we had no other choice. We checked out 1st thing following morning after asking staff for help they basically said nothing they can do so tough if you dont like it.
The rooms are disgusting they are dated and dont thjnk they have been properly cleaned for months
If you don't like loud noise from groups of students , then give this hotel the biggest wide berth. The food is good and the staff are lovely. But and it's a big but, companies should not send pensioners to this hotel under any circumstances, it's awful
Worse hotel we have ever been too. We was ready to go home 2days after we arrived no sleep for the first 2 nights with students swimming in the pool at 4am sounding in and out their rooms.. we managed to change rooms but then the younger school kids came what a nightmare hotel Never agaig
Enjoying the whole experience. Pool games are great n pass the time. Great staff. Daniella and the guys at pool side are great fun n encourage everyone. I'm loving it and deffo coming back. Thank you
Pour un soit disant hôtel 4 étoiles !! C’est à revoir ! Je n’ai jamais vu ça.
Je déconseille fortement.
There were several water polo teams during our stay that we had not been made aware of prior to arriving. They made constant noise throughout the hotel and over took the pool. We had several sleepless nights. It was intimidating walking around the hotel with a child when there were groups of young adults running up and down the stairs and loitering in hallways.
We complained multiple times to staff with no real resolution. We even requested an earlier flight back from Jet2 because we just wanted to go home, however they were unable to facilitate us.
There wasn't enough entertainment for children, it states that there is a schedule but we didn't see any activity on the days we spent there.
The pools were too deep for families, the shallow end is so small and the indoor pool was closed the entire time. The pool was supposed to close at 8pm but there were people using it for most of the nights after this time.
The hotel had a funny smell and the rooms were not cleaned efficiently, only the beds made. The rooms were dated and the beds were way too hard. The air con was terrible.
The local beach is essentially gravel and uncomfortable to walk on and you have to pay for umbrellas and beds, it's also a 30 minute walk from the hotel.
This hotel is designed for 18-30 year olds without children.
The only positive is that the food was always nice and there was a wide variety.
Would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
I’m not a wealthy man, so I don’t travel with my wife and daughter expecting five-star luxury. We’ve stayed in all sorts of hotels, motels, and B&Bs. But the H·TOP Royal Star? Easily the worst of them all. If this is “Royal,” then I dread to think what the budget option looks like.
First red flag: no real YouTube review videos of the place. Now I know why. Nobody survived long enough to upload one.
We booked with Jet2 Holidays (our third time with them, shame on us), and once again their “support” was about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Our flight left at 5:55 a.m., meaning a delightful 2:00 a.m. wake-up call. Who’s hungry for breakfast at that hour? Not us. We grabbed some sleep on the plane, landed in Girona, and then got slapped with Problem No. 1: the car rental desk. Apparently, wealthy people don’t just rent cars — they need a full life story told at the counter — so we stood in line for over an hour before finally getting keys.
We rolled up at the hotel just after noon, checked in, and were told: “Your room will be ready at 2:00.” Fine. Off to the beach, which was actually the best part of the day. At 1:00, starving, we dashed back for lunch — only to be told, “No lunch, just dinner.” So, we’d been awake since 2:00 a.m., had eaten nothing but airplane air, and now had to wait until dinner. Brilliant start.
Next, the lifts. Two tiny lifts for the whole hotel, each with space for about five humans (or three humans and one suitcase). We queued 20 minutes just to avoid carrying three 20kg suitcases plus cabin bags up five flights of stairs. At the hotel entrance, we’d already noticed a crowd of smokers puffing away, because that’s the only designated smoking area. Nothing says “holiday in paradise” like dragging your luggage through a fog of Marlboro.
Finally, the room. First attempt: key card doesn’t work. Back down five floors. Second attempt: success! Except… only two beds, even though I’d booked for three. Back down again, this time with another unlucky guest whose key also failed. Eventually, they wheeled in a third bed. By then, I’d done enough stair runs to qualify for the Barcelona marathon. Oh, and the room was so small that only one suitcase could be opened at a time. Cozy, if you like that sort of thing.
But the real gem? The bedding. It stank of human sweat, especially the pillows. Nothing says “sweet dreams” like wondering whose head last fermented on your pillow.
Dinner? A comedy show. Tomatoes as green as Granny Smith apples, served at both dinner and breakfast. In Spain! Tiny glasses for wine, tap water that tasted like pool chlorine, and chips that somehow managed to be cold at the exact moment the restaurant opened. Poached eggs? Forget it. Flavour? Forget it. The salads looked okay, but let’s be honest — nobody books a Spanish holiday to eat cold lettuce.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse… the last two nights turned into a full-blown youth hostel. Several hundred teenagers arrived for a nearby sports competition. Picture this: doors slamming, shouting, running in corridors at 2 a.m. Forget sleeping — it was like trying to nap in the middle of a school playground at break time. Romantic holiday with my wife? More like supervising a school trip we didn’t sign up for.
To sum it up: Royal Star? More like Faded Lightbulb. Between the sweaty pillows, green tomatoes, and teenage riot nights, this place deserves a medal — for teaching me never to book here again.
Don't EVER go to this hotel, it is a hostel not a hotel.
Htop Royal Star, is the worst hotel in Lloret.
If you stay here you will regret it.
There are so many bad reviews please look at them on TripAdvisor and believe me when I say the bad ones are true and fact.
Everything is Filthy, smelly, stinks of cigarettes everywhere, old, mouldy, disgusting food, unsafe for kids, no lifeguards at poolside.
This hotel is used as a summer camp for foreign teenagers making noise until 5am.
If you value your sanity don't go here.
You will have teenagers trying to climb your balcony at 3am running up & down the corridors banging on doors, moving furniture, screaming, shouting, singing, swearing, throwing bottles.
Walls are paper thin.
Management does not do anything about it.
Customer service is appalling and they hold no level of hospitality.
They cater for the summer camps over the other guests.
Hotel says 4* believe me, even 2* is too much.
Don't be fooled by the photos.
It is a hostel not a hotel.
Came here on holiday with my family for a week, half board. Not usually one to write a review but thought credit was due.
Great selection of food - pastries, fruit and cooked breakfast. Tea - choice of dishes, salad and desserts. Most foods were tasty and catered for my family.
Staff were friendly, didn’t have any problems at all. Staff provided entertainment round the pool daily and there was something on at the bar each night (some better than others but didn’t spend every night watching hotel entertainment).
There were 2 outdoor Pool areas, they were a bit small but were usually fine and not overly busy. I must admit there wasn’t loads of sunbeds, but we always managed to get a table/ chairs or a few sun beds.
The decor of the hotel was a bit dated but didn’t affect our holiday experience at all, the rooms were what you would expect really, good air con. The room was basic but clean and the house keeping was great for us! The beds were quite hard, but it wasn’t really that bad. There was quite a lot of noise in the hotel at night from people coming in late but we stayed in peak season, in a lively touristy area. Lloret de mar as a town was busy with young people, I think it was one of the busiest places I’ve ever seen when it came to young people going out on an evening in the town.
The location of the hotel was great - about 10/ 15 min walk to the bars/ cafes/ shops/ beach - if you turn left out the hotel, it’s more lively than the right side - the area to the right seemed a lot quieter. The water park was really good - we went a couple of days and really enjoyed it.
I don’t know why there is so many negative reviews for this hotel - we really enjoyed our holiday.
The staff are very friendly, closed to the beach and shops.
Very clean and the restaurant buffet offer a good variety and quality.
The only concern is the main swimming pool is too small.
The hotel is not a 4 star but the service is 5 star especially the pool side entertainment. Special mention to Daniela and Claudia for the general entertainment for my daughter she had a blast. Considering the poor state of the hotel I could not fault the service from the house keepers to the life guard (he loves a whistle !!!!) to reception doing the upmost to deliver high standards in a 2 star hotel. Would not come back but the staff have been brilliant.
Walked in and the smell was disgusting,
Beds felt like sleeping on bricks , something black on bathroom roof looked like mold very hard to find a space to sit around the pool .
Awful place, food under cooked, life guard loves to blow his whistle when children playing, no floats allowed rooms dated
