This is our 14th year staying at this hotel in January / February and each year it seems to get better and more welcoming.
Whilst predominately a business hotel, it’s a great place to stay if you are on holiday as has amazing views, is a 20 minute walk to the Waterfront and close to Long Street as well so great for exploring CT.
Although the pool and sun deck is fairly small, there is always enough space and you get the sun all day so great place to relax.
Westin Lounge on the 19th floor is really nice with stunning views and a nice relaxing atmosphere for a few pre dinner drinks and canapés. Staff in the lounge are exceptional.
Rooms are very nice, clean and spacious and have either a mountain or Waterfront view.
Breakfast is varied and great and the staff super friendly.
It’s great value for money considering where it is so highly recommend.
Overall another great stay here and we will be back next year.
Special thanks to Mincha and all her team for looking after us so well and always making us feel so welcome and valued.
We can’t wait to see you all again very soon.
From an unwelcoming welcome, to exceeding expectations, to impressive staff with disability, to another disappointing farewell!
As a South African returning “home”, my experience was on the colder side of lukewarm!
The cold reception my wife & I received was just that 🥶 cold. Thanks Anelisa.
Beside the fact that there was a lack in pre stay communication which was fixed - I had completely forgotten to ask for a sea view room (but neither was I offered/asked). I was checked in to the roof top view of CITCC.
I did ask if I could change the room whilst I was in the room & life saver Luyanda, managed to swop my room to sea view. Enkosi.
The Westin Cape Town - “Club Lounge” is not the International standard of what international expats are accustomed to, so I definitely would NOT recommend anyone choosing that option cause it’s not value for money.
Not to mention the missing personal most of the time! Until 4pm when afternoon “happy hour” starts. Club lounge ain’t all that but indeed stunning views!
What was impressive was the lounge / coffee bar on the ground floor. There is a lovely lady called Thondeka who only uses sign language. What a wonderful addition to any hotel and would recommend this hiring to any tourism related entity. The menu is great too.
Time for check out - average checkout by Thulisa. But the cherry on the top of the below average service at the hotel, the most miserable lady who should NOT be customer facing, in fact she should not be anywhere near people that’s how miserable she is. Didn’t have the energy to
Deal with her attitude so turned to Lemisa who was much more approachable.
I can honestly say that flying into Cape Town for 36 hours to celebrate a friends milestone birthday and choosing Westin over my own home or any other hotel was the biggest mistake.
Work trip to Capetown. Excellent location. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room. Gym small but effective. Sauna, rooftop infinity pool and jacuzzi are awesome.
Conference facilities and staff excellent. WiFi very good.
Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed my stay here, from the room (suite, but also had regular room for a night, which was fine), the convenience of the spa, including free/complementary indoor warmed pool, sauna and steam room access which I used nearly daily. And then, the restaurants on property also were absolutely delicious, my favorite was the café with lots of yummy grab and go options as well as teas and coffee. The security, porters, and front desk staff all go extra mile to be courteous and supportive as well. The hotel is also only around 10 to 15 minutes walk to two major hotspots in the city, the V&A waterfront with shopping, malls, and entertainment, or the downtown with lots of things to do there as well. Would definitely recommend/stay again.
We had an incredible experience in this property over Christmas. Everyone we encountered on the Westin team went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.
Beautiful impeccable facilities. We had a junior suite and access to the concierge lounge.
The concierge lounge has a lovely buffet which allows you the opportunity to order some dishes - see attached menu. It also offers a happy hour from 5 to 7 which varied every day.
There no longer is a shuttle to the V&A since COVID but it is an easy walk of Uber/taxi ride to get to.
The Christmas lunch was exceptional in variety.
This property is well maintained with nice, friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and great location. A lot of things such as shopping and food are in walking distance. A pretty quiet hotel that seems well managed. Definitely upheld the Westin standard! Close to most of the attractions you will want to partake in and still manages to acknowledge patrons while it being busy with other patrons and events. No complaints here. My Marriott status was acknowledged and I was upgraded to a executive lounge floor with access to the executive lounge. It has breakfast and in the evening light bites to eat and some snacks with water, juice and beer available complimentary. No liquor though. I got a manicure at the spa, it was basic nothing to brag about but the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. But actual manicure was nothing like you would get at a real nail salon but it was good enough to get you though a last minute occasion. The views from the rooms was nice.
I have stayed at several Westins worldwide. This one is by far the best, and the most conspicuous feature is how happy, helpful and content the staff at The Westin Cape Town appear to be, indicating that management treat them well and that they enjoy working at the hotel.
Our family stayed here for 5 days before commencing a safari and felt that this was the perfect city base to explore what Cape Town has to offer. Upon arrival there are several doormen to open doors for you, assist with bags and directions, and to provide friendly greetings that set the tone for a pleasant experience. The lobby is spacious and so are the rooms; all the moreso given that we were fortunate enough to enjoy a Platinum upgrade to a suite.
The Executive Lounge was excellent, with evening service including a good variety of hot cooked food items (meat and seafood items) that were substantial and high quality (not just the boring ham and cheese that is usually all you get in US/Europe/Australia), a sommelier who would conduct a wine tasting, and a few candy jars including a surprisingly delicious jar of butter cookies.
The breakfast selection in the main restaurant included the usual stations cooking eggs, pancakes, crepes and waffles, alongside bacon, sausages, sushi, salad, pastries, breads, and Asian items that rotated daily that ensured no 2 days were exactly the same. The Koeksisters and the Snowball were the highlight of the pastry table.
The wellness facilities here are especially good. The gym is well-equipped and sizeable, whilst the sauna and steam room impressed due to their large size, cleanliness, high temperature and steam flow. As a special bonus, the sauna enjoys a panoramic view of the city and water to the north.
We would like to specially acknowledge the outstanding efforts of two staff. Rafeeq at the Concierge desk, who was most efficient at corresponding with us by email prior to arrival to discuss sightseeing options and to assist with booking a private driver to take us to the Cape of Good Hope and to Franschhoek. Secondly, Sarah, who we interacted with as the Executive Lounge Manager and also the Manager of the Restaurant at breakfast time, was very friendly and went out of her way to ensure our first visit to Cape Town and stay at the Westin was memorable. In addition to ensuring our dining experience was excellent, she assisted by personally making takeaway tea/coffee in the Lounge for us to take outside as we started our day sightseeing, and also in providing paper bags on the last day so we could take some breakfast pastries with us to enjoy on the drive to the airport.
First, I want to commend the lovely staff and the great amenities the hotel offers. The service has been exceptional, and the facilities are impressive. However, the view from our room has significantly impacted our experience. Unfortunately, we were given a room that overlooks a roof, which, while manageable for a night or two, is quite disheartening for an extended stay.
As I’m attending a conference, my husband is here to enjoy the city, and we were both hoping for a more pleasant view during our time at the hotel. Although we booked using the conference rate, I can’t help but feel that there were many other rooms available at that price with much better views.
It’s disappointing that such an important aspect of our stay was overlooked. I understand the hotel is full, but I believe it would have been thoughtful to consider our request for a better room, especially for a longer stay. This has unfortunately affected our overall impression of the hotel.
I hope this feedback can help improve future stays for guests
The room was not clean and I had to call supervisor when this happened for the second time. The bed was stained and the sheath was very unclean. It was like someone has walked on it intentionally with the shoes on. The worse was when the supervisor told me that she is going to report back to me and she did not bother. I have complaint to expedia and asked for a refund butt the hotel did not reply to multiple messages from expedia.
Went on a company trip. Great service, location and hospitality. Facilities are top notch with focus on minute details
The staff at this hotel were amazing. Very helpful and also very friendly. The room was very clean and tidy and we had a turn down service every night. I would really recommend this hotel for a city break in Cape Town or for a longer stay. The V & A Waterfront was walkable and great location for Table Mountain etc. Great hotel, great staff and a memorable exchange for the start of our holiday in South Africa.
Our family stayed at The Westin Cape Town in August 2025, and it was truly one of the highlights of our entire trip. From the moment we arrived, the staff were exceptionally accommodating, thoughtful, and helpful. They made every detail of our stay feel special, ensuring that our family was comfortable and well taken care of.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning views of the city and harbor, but what made the experience outstanding was the warm hospitality and attention to detail. Whether it was assistance with our plans, small touches in the room, or the kindness shown throughout the property, the service went above and beyond.
Our trip to Cape Town was unforgettable, and the Westin played a big part in that. We are so grateful for the care and professionalism of the team, and we would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cape Town—whether for family, leisure, or business.
Great location in the business district. (5 minute uber to the waterfront area). Staff is friendly and efficient. Hotel is modern (complete with new lobby renovations). The main floor breakfast is extensive. Highly recommend upgrading to the club lounge level. In addition to a more private breakfast, the lounge has great table mountain and waterfront views, comfortable seating areas, and a special cocktail and small bite appetizers (with a local flair) each evening. Our room was good sized, and the bed was comfortable. The lobby and entrance were well staffed and completely safe. Bonus if you want the tourist experience - the hop on/hop off bus has a stop across the street (and a canal boat stop is outside the hotel entrance)
We loved this hotel. The breakfast was very good. The lounge had fantastic views. Rooms were comfortable and the staff was attentive. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Cape Town, we would stay here again.
Excellent location with great views and close proximity to V&A Waterfront. Big thanks to the hotel for giving us connecting rooms as a family.
Great
We stayed at The Westin CPT for 5 nights. Location is great and the room is spacious. The hotel is 6 mins away (by Uber) to V& A Waterfront.
Our heartfelt thanks to Francine (Thirty-7 Showkitchen) cafe for her warm welcome each morning. We enjoyed our chat with her. Amazing breakfast spread & staff.
A colleague, my wife and I stayed for 7 nights in January 2025 as a site visit for a Jan 2026 group trip (7 rooms, 12 adults for 10 nights). The hotel was great for our needs (diverse breakfast options, good location, nice/clean rooms, walkable/lyft to museums 7 waterfront, etc)., unfortunately the PRICE has nearly doubled recently so we cannot justify using this hotel.
Side note: Tried calling hotel 2x about price change and potential group rate (phone rang and rang, no option to leave a message). Emailed from Westin main page about group rate options and haven't heard anything in 2+ months.
My reservation was secured by credit card in April for a stay in September on the hotel's website (Marriot Bonvoy profile). I received an email last week from a Westin 'Events Executive' stating that I will receive a payment link by email to make payment for the booking. They already had my credit card details, but this primitive system still seems necessary despite all the fraud/scams going around. Nevertheless, there was no follow-up email/payment link (even checked my spam folder).
Then 2 days later I received an email that my reservation was cancelled, which also reflected as such on my Marriot Bonvoy profile. What kind of a shambolic system is this? I emailed the same Events Executive who then sent me the payment link (I should add that she unprofessionally addressed me by my first name spelt incorrectly which created further doubt). I made the payment, she sent me a receipt and stated that the booking is confirmed once more. However, the reservation still does not appear as an upcoming trip on the Marriott website as it did before this poorly handled mess. I still await an updated booking confirmation requested from her 4 days ago.
Hopefully the stay (if any still exists) will be better...
What a lovely hotel! This Westin in Cape Town didn't disappoint! It's an all-glass 19-storey hotel connected to the International Convention Center. You have a great view of the terminals, marina and wharves. It's decently located - a 25 minute leisurely walk gets you to the Victoria Waterfront, the super-sized mall and complex.
The lobby is very spacious with high ceiling. Anyone can go up since you don't need a card key to start the elevator but at every floor, there are glass doors which only open with the card key, which I thought was well thought out. If you had guests, you didn't have to go down to the lobby to pick them up.
The regular room is quite large, which is a relief if you're carrying several luggage pieces and you need to open them all up on the floor. There is backlighting everywhere in the room - behind the headboard and behind the TV wall. Behind the headboard is a large botanical mural which gave an elegant air to the wall. The TV screen is large, with several watchable channels. There is a sufficient number of strategically-located wall outlets, with both traditional South African, European and US plug standards. The ac panel is east to operate. Decor is modern, What impresses is the wall-to-wall floor-to-ceiling window - you already got a clue when you view the all-glass facade of the hotel from outside. The curtains overlap, which gives you full black out.
We also appreciated the T&B, with separate covered enclosures for shower and for toilet. There's full sets of towels, all monogrammed. We also appreciated the White Tea brand dispensers in the tub and the shower area. There were other small nice touches - lavender mini-spray for the bed; nespresso-style coffee machine; dummy cards on the power slot so you didn't have to use the room key; wine glasses. A few minor negatives - there was no hand wash dispenser in the wash basin area; the light fixtures were a bit on the dark side, presumably because of the thick lamp shades so that even with all the lights on, the room was still on the dim side.
We were similarly impressed with the breakfast food spread at Thirty 7 on the ground floor. The spread was so varied - we can't even remember the last time we had such a wide selection. 5 stars for the breakfast buffet.
But most impressive was the service orientation of the staff - the lobby people were so helpful, they even accompanied us across the street to guide us towards the waterfront; we were quickly given a checkout extension; the wait staff in Thirty 7 were also super-friendly and so quick to serve.
I've no doubt we'll book Westin again if ever we visit Cape Town again!
