Great place to stay if you want to get a true feel for the culture. Excellent beach that felt private. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They made sure we had what we needed for the villa to include cleaning, towels, etc.
Staying out of season was challenging in that the available markets/grocery was limited so buying needed groceries to use with the unit kitchen was impossible for many items. The restaurants were limited with the property but the food was great and other restaurants are available nearby, although limited likely due to off season.
Only complaint was that Jake’s restaurant unlike Jack Spratt restaurant, which I understand is also owned by the property, presented our meal tabs in US instead of Jamaican dollars which added in my estimation about $8 to $12 per sitting for 4 people. When asked they did show the Jamaican dollar cost on our tabs but when they tried to run the credit card charges in Jamaican dollars, many times the card readers at Jake’s would reject for currency mismatch. I did not experience this at any other venue in Jamaica and have not experienced this traveling anywhere else in the world.
It was very frustrating, and we never got a clear explanation why certain card readers couldn’t process the charges in Jamaican dollars.
Love this place
We had a bungalow away from the main area so our wifi didn't work in the room. The door latch on the bathroom door didn't latch properly, so the door wouldn't stay shut. The latch on the window next to the door also didn't latch, so it could easily be opened from outside. The entire property seemed easily accessible to anyone but I did feel safe. The room was really lovely and private and the view was amazing. The bed was comfy but the mosquito net was pointless. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.
Overall, I would stay here again as long as I have enough mobile data on my phone to keep a wifi connection.
Best choice in Treasure Beach. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Service is where they shine.
Jakes has a great rustic chic vibe, and very friendly staff! We felt safe and cared for, and appreciated the attention to details and consistent effort to make our stay pleasant. Special thanks to staff Stacy-ann, Janet and Cecil !
Amazing small hotel
One of the most relaxing places on earth for us.
This place is the one that’s existed in my dreams and only wish we could have stayed longer.
What an amazing find! Loved the chilled atmosphere and smiles …. the ever ready willingness to help … the quality of service. Shimming and his staff went out of the way for I make our stay special. A special shout out to Janet for the memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!
Very laid back bohemian style hotel with a great array of rooms. Close to the beach and local restaurants. The hotel offers several excursions to nearby attractions such as Black River and YS falls. Very much enjoyed my stay off the beaten track
Wonderful stay at Jakes (including the resident gecko or 2). Beautiful properties and facilities. Great food and lovely staff. Location is fabulous away from the busy tourist areas with plenty of good dining choices locally.
Jake's was colorful and beautifully landscaped. All the staff was friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed for a relaxing week in Treasure Beach.
It's a magical spot. Beautiful, colorful, cottages and villas all with easy access to the beach, pool, activites. The staff is friendly and the vibe is laid back. You can easily do a lot or do nothing. It's a very special place.
We loved the vibe and uniqueness of Jake’s. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. And Treasure Beach still feels like small town, authentic, old time Jamaica. I’d recommend Jake’s to anyone that wants an experience that’s different from the sterile ‘all inclusive’ resorts. Thank you for a very memorable week!
I took my dad and my sister, and we had a wonderful time! Definitely we will be coming back!
This is a beautiful resort made up of quaint cottages/rooms. Every room is it's own destination.
Treasure Beach is quiet compared to MoBay and Negril, but there are plenty of walkable restaurants and nightclubs/bars.
The bed is a little too soft but the staff, service were awesome. The restaurant was very good too
You don’t have many options nearby
Beautiful sunset
This is a fabulous resort for those who walk the road less travelled. It's not about anything other than peace and good vibes.
We stayed at Treasure Cot at Jake’s with our 1.5 year old for 2 weeks in November and had an amazing time. The house is old and rustic but that’s part of the charm. Right on the beach and a short stroll down the local road from the main Jake’s property. Our house team (Tracy and Oshane) were so lovely and welcoming to our family in every way. Tracy prepared 3 wonderful local meals everyday for us - making modifications for our toddler where relevant. They were happy to chat and entertain visits from our toddler throughout the day. We also had a nanny arranged through Jake’s, Carlene, who was an absolute delight. We’ve been home for a few weeks and our little one is still talking about her “Carly”. At Jake’s itself, we enjoyed the spa on a few occasions and loved the cocktails at the bar. A terrific trip - we local forward to returning in years to come.
Safe, beautiful, hospitality that is unbeatble!
